• The conjugal relationship of amorous love called parakīya-rasa is the unparalleled perfection of love exhibited by Lord Kṛṣṇa and His devotees. The highest perfectional stage of the conjugal relationship, enriched by many sentiments, gives the maximum relishable mellow to the devotee.
• Sahajiya’s superficial imitation can create havoc on the path for the advancement of one’s spiritual relationship with the Lord.
• Materialistic conditioned souls do not understand the transcendental exchanges of love, but they like to indulge in sense gratification in the name of devotional service.
• Many great souls recommended with great emphasis that one develop the spontaneous love of Godhead
• Manaḥ-śikṣā says that one should simply worship Rādhā and Kṛṣṇa with all attention. One should not be much interested in performing Vedic rituals or simply following rules and regulations.
• The human form of life is the best position for devotional service, only in this form can a living entity revive his eternal relationship with the Supreme Personality of Godhead. If one takes advantage of this highest kind of material form, one can regain his position of devotional service to the Lord.

(SB 2.1.28)

EACH UNIVERSE HAS A REPRESENTATION OF THE VIRAT FORM

There are innumerable universes floating on the Causal Ocean, and in each of them the representation of the virāṭ form of the Lord is there along with innumerable suns, moons, heavenly demigods, Brahmās, Viṣṇus and Śivas, all of them situated in one part of the inconceivable potency of Lord Kṛṣṇa, as stated in the Bhagavad-gītā (10.42).

(SB 2.1.29)

SB IS THE POSTGRADUATE STUDY

Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam is the postgraduate study for the student of the Bhagavad-gītā. Both of them are the science of Kṛṣṇa, the Absolute Truth, and so they are interdependent.

WORSHIP OF THE LORD APPEASES THE DEMIGODS

The conception of the virāṭ-puruṣa, or the gigantic form of the Supreme Lord, is said to include all the dominating demigods as well as the dominated living beings.  Even the minutest part of a living being is controlled by the empowered agency of the Lord. Since the demigods are included in the gigantic form of the Lord, worship of the Lord, whether in His gigantic material conception or in His eternal transcendental form as Lord Śrī Kṛṣṇa, also appeases the demigods and all the other parts and parcels, as much as watering the root of a tree distributes energy to all of the tree’s other parts.

Consequently, for a materialist also, worship of the universal gigantic form of the Lord leads one to the right path. One need not risk being misled by approaching many demigods for the fulfillment of different desires. The real entity is the Lord Himself, and all others are imaginary, for everything is included in Him only.

By worshipping the Lord even the demigods are worshipped. One offers respect to the demiGods. And offers Krsna prasadam to the demigods. Everyone in the material world has a temporary body. When a person is born you see the body, the body is changing and the body disappears. Krsna’s body never disappears and never deteriorates. The real entity is Lord Himself. If you worship Krsna then everything that is dependent on Krsna is worshipped. Everyone wants material prosperity – health, wealth, peace, happiness and sense gratification. They don’t want to go to Krsna , there are rumors that if you go to Krsna you will lose everything. Every product has the description, makes it sound like it is God’s gift to humanity and you must have it. If you go to this man God you will get rich… business will do well, it is the same thing as when you go on the internet to find a product, every product has a shining description. Whoever promises sense gratification, people go to them. Ex – Bhagwan OSHO. You don’t have to follow any rules you need to increase sense gratification, you will do more and then eventually stop. To join the Asharam you have to give everything you earned to them. Women started controlling the ashrams. These are all crazy ideas. Anything related to sense gratification low class people get attracted.  Famous French scholar Lafayette. He wrote a critique on the constitution. When people figure out that they can vote for themselves perks, then the government will fail.  Prabhupada called credit cards a bankrupt card. Credit companies are backed up by Government.

Unless people understand who Krsna is and worship Krsna, they will deteriorate to using religion for sense gratification. Example – Prosperity theology. The way you become rich is by tiding, giving money to the church. The only one who becomes rich is the pastor.

CC – PHD…
Virat rupa – description is given in BG 11 th ch and SB canto 2. This subject matter is the way to preach to materialists and atheists. If they can hear about Virat rupa. Now I can understand why we are always talking about energy…. “all those energies are coming from Krsna. People can gradually come to the conclusion of Krsna is the Source of everything. Einstein’s unified field theory is also similar…

Everyone is interested in sense gratification. The highest sense gratification is sex. Yesterday we were talking about this in SB 1.1.1 purport last 2 paragraphs.

(SB 1.1.1) IN MODERN CIVILIZATION, SEX LIFE IS THE FOCAL POINT FOR ALL ACTIVITIES

Śrīla Viśvanātha Cakravartī Ṭhākura specifically deals with the original and pure sex psychology (ādi-rasa), devoid of all mundane inebriety. The whole material creation is moving under the principle of sex life. In modern civilization, sex life is the focal point for all activities

(SB 1.1.1) SEX LIFE IS NOT UNREAL.

Its reality is experienced in the spiritual world. The material sex life is but a perverted reflection of the original fact. The original fact is in the Absolute Truth, and thus the Absolute Truth cannot be impersonal. It is not possible to be impersonal and contain pure sex life.

(SB 1.1.1) THE IMPERSONALIST PHILOSOPHERS HAVE GIVEN INDIRECT IMPETUS TO THE ABOMINABLE MUNDANE SEX LIFE

Consequently, the impersonalist philosophers have given indirect impetus to the abominable mundane sex life because they have overstressed the impersonality of the ultimate truth. Consequently, man without information of the actual spiritual form of sex has accepted perverted material sex life as the all in all.

There is a distinction between sex life in the diseased material condition and spiritual sex life. This is described in the verse CC ADI 4.33 – 4.34

CC ADI 4.33

Then, by hearing about the pure love of the residents of Vraja, devotees will worship Me on the path of spontaneous love, abandoning all rituals of religiosity and fruitive activity.”

MANY GREAT SOULDS RECOMMENDED WITH GREAT EMPHASIS THAT ONE DEVELOP THIS SPONTANEOUS LOVE OF GODHEAD

Many realized souls, such as Raghunātha dāsa Gosvāmī and King Kulaśekhara, have recommended with great emphasis that one develop this spontaneous love of Godhead, even at the risk of transgressing all the traditional codes of morality and religiosity.

MANAḤ-ŚIKṢĀ SAYS THAT ONE SHOULD SIMPLY WORSHIP RĀDHĀ AND KṚṢṆA WITH ALL ATTENTION.

Śrī Raghunātha dāsa Gosvāmī, one of the six Gosvāmīs of Vṛndāvana, has written in his prayers called the Manaḥ-śikṣā that one should simply worship Rādhā and Kṛṣṇa with all attention. Na dharmaṁ nādharmaṁ śruti-gaṇa-niruktaṁ kila kuru: one should not be much interested in performing Vedic rituals or simply following rules and regulations.

King Kulaśekhara in his book Mukunda-mālā-stotra (5):

“I have no attraction for performing religious rituals or holding any earthly kingdom. I do not care for sense enjoyments; let them appear and disappear in accordance with my previous deeds. My only desire is to be fixed in devotional service to the lotus feet of the Lord, even though I may continue to take birth here life afterlife.” (Sounds exactly like nadhanam najanam… Sri Vaishnavas and the Gaudiya Vaishnavas have the same Sidhanta may not be the same sampradaya)

You cannot jump to the raganuga bhakti on your own. You will have to be trained by a GOPI in a bonafide way. The goal of the International Society of divine love says the goal of life is Prema and we will give you right away.

CC ADI 4.34

“Kṛṣṇa manifests His eternal humanlike form and performs His pastimes to show mercy to the devotees. Having heard such pastimes, one should engage in service to Him.”

This material world is only a perverted reflection of the spiritual world, where everything is manifested without inebriety.

SPIRITUAL WORLD

There everything is in its original existence, free from the domination of time. Time cannot deteriorate or interfere with the conditions in the spiritual world, where different manifestations of the Supreme Personality of Godhead are the recipients of the worship of different living entities in their constitutional spiritual positions. (different rasas)

In the spiritual world all existence is unadulterated goodness. The goodness found in the material world is contaminated by the modes of passion and ignorance.

HUMAN FORM OF LIFE IS THE BEST POSITION FOR DEVOTIONAL SERVICE

The saying that the human form of life is the best position for devotional service has its special significance because only in this form can a living entity revive his eternal relationship with the Supreme Personality of Godhead. ( even the demi gods have difficulty in reviving the relationship with Krsna)  The human form is considered the highest state in the cycle of the species of life in the material world. If one takes advantage of this highest kind of material form, one can regain his position of devotional service to the Lord.

LORD APPEARS IN DIFFERENT INCARNATIONS TO RECIPROCATE THE DIFFERENT APPRECIATIONS OF LIVING ENTITIES IN DIFFERENT STAGES OF EVOLUTION

The Lord’s pastimes are differentiated according to the appreciating capacity of the different types of bodies of the living entities. The Supreme Lord bestows the most merciful benediction upon human society when He appears in His human form. It is then that humanity gets the opportunity to engage in different kinds of eternal service to the Lord.

The Lord appears in different incarnations — as a fish, tortoise and boar, as Paraśurāma, Lord Rāma, Buddha and so on — to reciprocate the different appreciations of living entities in different stages of evolution. The conjugal relationship of amorous love called parakīya-rasa is the unparalleled perfection of love exhibited by Lord Kṛṣṇa and His devotees.

Special natural appreciation of the descriptions of a particular pastime of Godhead indicates the constitutional position of a living entity. The highest perfectional stage of the conjugal relationship, enriched by many sentiments, gives the maximum relishable mellow to the devotee.

SAHAJIYAS

A class of so-called devotees known as sahajiyās try to imitate the Lord’s pastimes, although they have no understanding of the amorous love in His expansions of pleasure potency. Their superficial imitation can create havoc on the path for the advancement of one’s spiritual relationship with the Lord. Material sexual indulgence can never be equated with spiritual love, which is in unadulterated goodness. The activities of the sahajiyās simply lower one deeper into the material contamination of the senses and mind.

Kṛṣṇa’s transcendental pastimes display eternal servitorship to Adhokṣaja, the Supreme Lord, who is beyond all conception through material senses. Materialistic conditioned souls do not understand the transcendental exchanges of love, but they like to indulge in sense gratification in the name of devotional service.

Dont think that material sex and spiritual sex is the same, just because the word sex is there. If we do that we become like shajiyas. The highest thing in the spiritual world is the lowest abominable thing in the material world.

Marshalls law of economics – if you want to have a steady work force you have to deal with married work force. Married people work like donkeys to maintain their family. They have debts, they buy washing machine…
If you get married you have to work hard until they grow and be independent.  After that If you live properly, vanaprastha, sanyasi.. Somehow other you are maintained by Krsna and you have all the time for Krsna.
In the past did not have to work like that.. The nature cooperated  and they naturally sustained. (BG 3.10)

(BG 3.10) KRSNA HAS PROVIED US EVERYTHING IN THIS MATERIAL WORLS SO WE CAN LIVE WITHOUT ANXIETY AND FOCUS ON SELF REALIZATION AND GO BACK TO GODHEAD.

The prajā-pati is Lord Viṣṇu, and He is the Lord of all living creatures, all worlds, and all beauties, and the protector of everyone. The Lord created this material world to enable the conditioned souls to learn how to perform yajñas (sacrifices) for the satisfaction of Viṣṇu, so that while in the material world they can live very comfortably without anxiety, and after finishing the present material body they can enter into the kingdom of God. That is the whole program for the conditioned soul.

SB 2.1.26 Notes – 03/20/21

KEY TAKEAWAYS FROM HH HARIVILAS MAHARAJ’S MORNING BHAGAVATAM CLASS ON SB 2.1.26

  1.  The conception of the universal form of the Lord gives a chance to the materialist to think of the Supreme Lord, but the materialist must know for certain that his visualization of the world in a spirit of lording over it is not God-realization
  2. if anyone wants to realize the Supreme Truth by conceiving of the universal form of the Lord, he must cultivate the service attitude. Unless the service attitude is revived, the conception of virāṭ realization will have very little effect on the seer
  3. Supreme Lord is abhijñaḥ or svarāṭ. These two words distinguish the Supreme Lord from all the other living entities. No other living entity is either abhijñaḥ or svarāṭ. That is, no one is either fully cognizant or fully independent. Even Brahmā has to meditate upon the Supreme Lord in order to create.
  4. Atheists like Rāvaṇa or Hiraṇyakaśipu had to undergo severe penances before they could flout the authority of the Lord. But ultimately, they were rendered helpless and could not save themselves when the Lord appeared before them as cruel death
  5. Whenever men neglect the authority of the Lord, nature and her laws are there to penalize them. This is confirmed in Bhagavad-gītā (Bg. 4.7)

  9. The Supreme Lord is all-perfect is confirmed in all śruti-mantras
  10. God is asamordhva. No one is equal to or greater than Him
  11. Only the mahātmās can understand that the Supreme Lord is the primeval cause of all creations.
  12. Mahārāja Ambarīṣa was advised therein to read regularly Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam if he desired liberation from material bondage.
  13. This Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam will gradually elevate the unbiased reader to the highest perfectional stage of transcendence. It will enable him to transcend the three modes of material activities: fruitive actions, speculative philosophy, and worship of functional deities as inculcated in Vedic verses.

SB 2.1.26 TRANSLATION:

Persons who have realized it have studied that the planets known as Pātāla constitute the bottoms of the feet of the universal Lord, and the heels and the toes are the Rasātala planets. The ankles are the Mahātala planets, and His shanks constitute the Talātala planets.

CLASS NOTES:

IF ANYONE WANTS TO REALIZE THE SUPREME TRUTH BY CONCEIVING OF THE UNIVERSAL FORM OF THE LORD, HE MUST CULTIVATE THE SERVICE ATTITUDE.

The conception of the universal form of the Lord gives a chance to the materialist to think of the Supreme Lord, but the materialist must know for certain that his visualization of the world in a spirit of lording over it is not God-realization. The materialistic view of exploitation of the material resources is occasioned by the illusion of the external energy of the Lord, and as such if anyone wants to realize the Supreme Truth by conceiving of the universal form of the Lord, he must cultivate the service attitude. Unless the service attitude is revived, the conception of virāṭ realization will have very little effect on the seer. The transcendental Lord, in any conception of His form, is never a part of the material creation. He keeps His identity as Supreme Spirit in all circumstances and is never affected by the three material qualities, for everything material is contaminated. The Lord always exists by His internal energy.

THE UNIVERSE IS DIVIDED INTO FOURTEEN PLANETARY SYSTEMS.

Seven upward planetary systems –  called Bhūr, Bhuvar, Svar, Mahar, Janas, Tapas and Satya, are upward planetary systems, one above the other.

Seven downward planetary systems –  known as Atala, Vitala, Sutala, Talātala, Mahātala, Rasātala and Pātāla, gradually, one below the other.

In this verse, the description begins from the bottom because it is in the line of devotion that the Lord’s bodily description should begin from His feet. Śukadeva Gosvāmī is a recognized devotee of the Lord, and he is exactly correct in the line.

Simply looking at material nature does not mean that you are meditating on God. If you look at it for sense gratification, we don’t see it correctly. A sane person looks at a child with affection and protects the child. A pedophile looks at a child to exploit the child. How you can meditate on the universal form of the lord. For those who are materialistic like pantheists, everything is God or many gods. As long as their desire is to exploit nature, they are not meditating on God. Another person who meets the devotee and hears from the devotee and is asked to meditate on the universal form of the Lord, due to their tendencies and is given the opportunity to perform devotional service.

Unless the person gets engaged in some devotional service there is no chance of understanding Krsna. Even if they are brilliant and smart. Understanding Krsna is a big subject. That is why Srimad Bhagavatam exists. It took 1 year to read 1st Canto. If we read at this pace it takes 20 years to read the whole SB. It could take lifetimes to understand SB. Going back to verses in the past will help.

Vyasdeva is the incarnation of Narayana Himself. He was not satisfied in spite of compiling and writing – 4 Vedas, Puranas, Mahabharata, VedantaSutra. Narada muni instructs to write Srimad BHagavatam. He wrote commentary of all the vedas and vedanta sutra in the Srimad bhagavatam. There are many people cheating others that they are God. People get cheated because they do not understand who God is.  Lord shows Virat rupa to help people who accept anyone and everyone as God. They should ask if you are God, then show me your universal form. That is the litmus test. That saves a person lot of time and trouble. It is like a blue jackal. There are many blue jackals in this world today. Although all the information is available. They ignore BG and SB. Two things that are extremely important to understand Krsna. Abhigya and Svarat.

(SB 1.1.1) SUPREME LORD IS ABHIJÑAḤ OR SVARĀṬ. THESE TWO WORDS DISTINGUISH THE SUPREME LORD FROM ALL THE OTHER LIVING ENTITIES.

janmādy asya yato ’nvayād itarataś cārtheṣv abhijñaḥ svarāṭ

These two words distinguish the Supreme Lord from all the other living entities. No other living entity is either abhijñaḥ or svarāṭ. That is, no one is either fully cognizant or fully independent. Even Brahmā has to meditate upon the Supreme Lord in order to create. Then what to speak of great scientists like Einstein! The brains of such a scientist are certainly not the products of any human being. Scientists cannot manufacture such a brain, and what to speak of foolish atheists who defy the authority of the Lord? Even Māyāvādī impersonalists who flatter themselves that they can become one with the Lord are neither abhijñaḥ nor svarāṭ. Such impersonalists undergo severe austerities to acquire knowledge to become one with the Lord. But ultimately they become dependent on some rich disciple who supplies them with money to build monasteries and temples. Atheists like Rāvaṇa or Hiraṇyakaśipu had to undergo severe penances before they could flout the authority of the Lord. But ultimately, they were rendered helpless and could not save themselves when the Lord appeared before them as cruel death. This is also the case with the modern atheists who also dare to flout the authority of the Lord. Such atheists will be dealt with similarly, for history repeats itself. Whenever men neglect the authority of the Lord, nature and her laws are there to penalize them. This is confirmed in Bhagavad-gītā (Bg. 4.7) in the well-known verse yadā yadā hi dharmasya glāniḥ. “Whenever there is a decline of dharma and a rise of adharma, O Arjuna, then I incarnate Myself.”

(SB 1.1.1) THE SUPREME LORD IS ALL-PERFECT IS CONFIRMED IN ALL ŚRUTI-MANTRAS

That the Supreme Lord is all-perfect is confirmed in all śruti-mantras. It is said in the śruti-mantras that the all-perfect Lord threw a glance over matter and thus created all living beings. The living beings are parts and parcels of the Lord, and He impregnates the vast material creation with seeds of spiritual sparks, and thus the creative energies are set in motion to enact so many wonderful creations.

(SB 1.1.1) GOD IS ASAMORDHVA. NO ONE IS EQUAL TO OR GREATER THAN HIM

Another name for God is asamordhva, which means that no one is equal to or greater than Him. Paraṁ satyam, or the Supreme Truth, is He who has no equal or superior. This is confirmed in the śruti-mantras. It is said that before the creation of the material universe there existed the Lord only, who is master of everyone. That Lord instructed Brahmā in Vedic knowledge. That Lord has to be obeyed in all respects. Anyone who wants to get rid of the material entanglement must surrender unto Him. This is also confirmed in Bhagavad-gītā.

(SB 1.1.1) ONLY THE MAHĀTMĀS CAN UNDERSTAND THAT THE SUPREME LORD IS THE PRIMEVAL CAUSE OF ALL CREATIONS

When an intelligent man surrenders unto the lotus feet of Kṛṣṇa and knows completely that Kṛṣṇa is the cause of all causes, as confirmed in Bhagavad-gītā, then only can such an intelligent man become a mahātmā, or great soul. But such a great soul is rarely seen.

Only the mahātmās can understand that the Supreme Lord is the primeval cause of all creations. He is parama or ultimate truth because all other truths are relative to Him. He is omniscient. For Him, there is no illusion.

(SB 1.1.1)MAHĀRĀJA AMBARĪṢA WAS ADVISED THEREIN TO READ REGULARLY ŚRĪMAD-BHĀGAVATAM IF HE DESIRED LIBERATION FROM MATERIAL BONDAGE.

In the Padma Purāṇa also there is reference to the Bhāgavatam in a conversation between Gautama and Mahārāja Ambarīṣa. The king was advised therein to read regularly Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam if he desired liberation from material bondage. Under the circumstances, there is no doubt about the authority of the Bhāgavatam. Within the past five hundred years, many erudite scholars and ācāryas like Jīva Gosvāmī, Sanātana Gosvāmī, Viśvanātha Cakravartī, Vallabhācārya, and many other distinguished scholars even after the time of Lord Caitanya made elaborate commentaries on the Bhāgavatam. And the serious student would do well to attempt to go through them to better relish the transcendental messages

(SB 1.1.1)THE ORIGINAL FACT IS IN THE ABSOLUTE TRUTH, AND THUS THE ABSOLUTE TRUTH CANNOT BE IMPERSONAL. IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO BE IMPERSONAL AND CONTAIN PURE SEX LIFE.

Śrīla Viśvanātha Cakravartī Ṭhākura specifically deals with the original and pure sex psychology (ādi-rasa), devoid of all mundane inebriety. The whole material creation is moving under the principle of sex life. In modern civilization, sex life is the focal point for all activities. Wherever one turns his face, he sees sex life predominant. Therefore, sex life is not unreal. Its reality is experienced in the spiritual world. The material sex life is but a perverted reflection of the original fact. The original fact is in the Absolute Truth, and thus the Absolute Truth cannot be impersonal. It is not possible to be impersonal and contain pure sex life.

SB 2.1.25 Notes – 03/19/2021

KEY TAKEAWAYS FROM HH HARIVILAS MAHARAJ’S MORNING BHAGAVATAM CLASS ON SB 2.1.25:

  1. In the Bhagavad-gītā, it has been proven that the original transcendental and eternal form of the Lord is Śrī Kṛṣṇa, the Absolute Personality of Godhead, but by His inconceivable internal potency, ātma-māyā, He can expand Himself by multifarious forms and incarnations simultaneously, without being diminished in His full potency.
  2. Lord Kṛṣṇa, manifested His virāṭ-rūpa just to convince the less intelligent class of men, who cannot conceive of the Lord as appearing just like a human being, that He factually has the potency of His claim to be the Supreme Absolute Person without any rival or superior.
  3. The virāṭ-rūpa was particularly exhibited by the Lord just to give lessons to such foolish men so that one can accept a person as the incarnation of Godhead only if such a person is able to exhibit such a virāṭ-rūpa as Lord Kṛṣṇa did.
  4. There is lot more to the material world than one can perceive. This universe, as well as many other hundreds of thousands of universes, are each covered by sevenfold material coverings of water, fire, air, sky, ego, noumenon and material nature, just like a huge football, pumped and covered, floating on the water of the Causal Ocean, wherein the Lord is lying as Mahā-Viṣṇu.
  5. All the universes in seed are emanating from the breathing of the Mahā-Viṣṇu, who is but part of a partial expansion of the Lord, and all the universes presided over by the Brahmās vanish when the Mahā-Viṣṇu withdraws His great breath. The material worlds are being created and vanished by the supreme will of the Lord.
  6. The materialistic person may concentrate his mind upon the virāṭ or gigantic form of the Lord in his own interest and as recommended by Śukadeva Gosvāmī, but he must be on his guard not to be misled by pretenders who claim to be the identical person as Lord Kṛṣṇa but are not able to act like Him or exhibit the virāṭ-rūpa, comprehending the whole of the universe.
  7. Māyāvādī sannyāsīs address each other as Nārāyaṇa. Whenever they see another sannyāsī, they offer him respect by calling oṁ namo nārāyaṇāya (“I offer my respect unto you, Nārāyaṇa”), although they know perfectly well what kind of Nārāyaṇa he is.
  8. Nārāyaṇa has four hands, but although they are puffed up with the idea of being Nārāyaṇa, they cannot exhibit more than two.
  9. Since their philosophy declares that Nārāyaṇa and an ordinary human being are on the same level, they sometimes use the term daridra-nārāyaṇa (“poor Nārāyaṇa”), which was invented by a so-called svāmī who did not know anything about Vedānta philosophy. (Vivekananda).
  10. Therefore although all these Māyāvādī sannyāsīs who called themselves Nārāyaṇa were actually unaware of the position of Nārāyaṇa, due to their austerities, Lord Caitanya Mahāprabhu enabled them to understand Him to be Nārāyaṇa Himself.
  11. “Unless one associates with a pure devotee, he cannot be influenced to understand devotional service.” These Māyāvādī sannyāsīs were fortunate enough to meet the Supreme Personality of Godhead in the form of a devotee, and certainly, they were greatly influenced by the Lord
  12. A highly realized person never says anything that has no meaning. Māyāvādī philosophers claim to be the Supreme Personality of Godhead, and this has no meaning, but Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu never uttered such nonsense. The Māyāvādī sannyāsīs were convinced about His personality, and therefore they wanted to hear the purport of Vedānta philosophy from Him.
  13. Daridra Narayana, Guru Sakshad Hari, Manava Seve Madhava Seva, God cannot be known, God is Arupam – These are all false premise theories by Mayavadis. They use a series of verses from Bhagavadgita, Srimad Bhagavatam, and other scriptures and misinterpret the meanings to give their own interpretation of these theories. People who never studied Bhagavad Gita, Srimad Bhagavatam, believe this and go along with them.

CLASS NOTES:

SB 2.1.25 TRANSLATION

The gigantic universal form of the Personality of Godhead, within the body of the universal shell, which is covered by sevenfold material elements, is the subject for the virāṭ conception.

LORD HAS MULTIFARIOUS OTHER FORMS, AND ALL OF THEM ARE IDENTICAL WITH THE ORIGINAL FOUNTAINHEAD FORM OF THE LORD, ŚRĪ KṚṢṆA

(Param brahma, param dhama…. Arjuna, Narada, Bhishma, many others have accepted Krsna is the original Supreme Personality of Godhead) He is complete, and although innumerable complete forms emanate from Him, He is still complete, without any loss. That is His spiritual or internal potency.  (Alternate Translation of Om purnamidam….)

THE LORD MANIFESTED AS VIRAT RUPA TO SHOW THAT FACTUALLY HAS HAS THE POTENCY OF HIS CLAIM TO BE THE SUPREME ABSOLUTE PERSON WITHOUT ANY RIVAL OR SUPERIOR.

In the Eleventh Chapter of the Bhagavad-gītā, the Personality of Godhead, Lord Kṛṣṇa, manifested His virāṭ-rūpa just to convince the less intelligent class of men, who cannot conceive of the Lord as appearing just like a human being, that He factually has the potency of His claim to be the Supreme Absolute Person without any rival or superior.

Prove to me that God is everything. I do not accept Vaikunta, Goloka… People cannot accept the little blue boy is the supreme God, all this is fantasy, I do accept there is a higher energy that encompasses everything. To who says this, we can show Virat Rupa. These atheistic people only believe in matter. The sum total of all the matter is Virat Rupa.)

THE MATERIAL WORLDS ARE BEING CREATED AND VANISHED BY THE SUPREME WILL OF THE LORD.

Materialistic men can think, although very imperfectly, of the huge universal space, comprehending an innumerable number of planets as big as the sun. They can see only the circular sky overhead, without any information that this universe, as well as many other hundreds of thousands of universes, are each covered by sevenfold material coverings of water, fire, air, sky, ego, noumenon (imperceptible things, electromagnetism, BG 7.2, both phenomenal and numinous, Srila Prabhupada explains that not only that there is a visible part of the universe, but there is part of the universe that we can’t see. There is a lot more to understanding Krsna than people can even imagine.) and material nature, just like a huge football, pumped and covered, floating on the water of the Causal Ocean, wherein the Lord is lying as Mahā-Viṣṇu. All the universes in seed are emanating from the breathing of the Mahā-Viṣṇu, who is but part of a partial expansion of the Lord, (Krsna, Balaram, 1st Chaturvyuha, Narayana, 2nd Chaturvyuha, Maha Vishnu, Garbodakasaya Vishnu, Ksirodakasayi Vishnu…..) and all the universes presided over by the Brahmās vanish when the Mahā-Viṣṇu withdraws His great breath.

ONE CAN ACCEPT A PERSON AS THE INCARNATION OF GODHEAD ONLY IF SUCH A PERSON IS ABLE TO EXHIBIT SUCH A VIRĀṬ-RŪPA AS LORD KṚṢṆA DID.

The poor foolish materialist can just imagine how ignorantly he puts forward an insignificant creature to become His rival incarnation, simply on the allegations of a dying man.  The virāṭ-rūpa was particularly exhibited by the Lord just to give lessons to such foolish men so that one can accept a person as the incarnation of Godhead only if such a person is able to exhibit such a virāṭ-rūpa as Lord Kṛṣṇa did. (SB 2.1.24 – other reference)

Paundraka acted like Narayana by pasting two more arms. There are others who say they are God, but only have two arms. One should ask them to show the all-encompassing Virat rupa to be declared as God. Srila Prabhupada is giving us this knowledge on how to bring Atheists and Asuras to Krsna Consciousness

The impersonalists, demons, atheists,  if they do not want to see Krsna or Narayana, they can see the God encompassing the whole universe, the Virat rupa. They will eventually get to understand Krsna. Let them meditate on the Virat Rupa.

The Mayavadis started by putting Lord Caitanya by putting him on the defensive side. By telling Him that He is not being a proper sanyasi because he is chanting and dancing like a sentimentalist. They say real sanyasi studies Vedanta. Lord Caitanya convinces them why he is chanting and dancing by saying that His guru thought He was a fool and he cannot study Vedanta and just chant and dance. He does it with a very sweet speech and beautiful form.  Speech is the number one quality by which you can judge a person. He brings them on his side by humility, sweetness, Sastric evidence…

CC ADI 7.99: After hearing Lord Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu, all the Māyāvādī sannyāsīs were moved. Their minds changed, and thus they spoke with pleasing words.

CC ADI 7.105: “Dear Sir, by Your influence our minds are greatly satisfied, and we believe that Your words will never be unreasonable. Therefore You may speak on the Vedānta-sūtra.”

In this verse, the words tomāra prabhāve (“Your influence”) are very important. Unless one is spiritually advanced he cannot influence an audience. Bhaktivinoda Ṭhākura has sung, śuddha-bhakata-caraṇa-reṇu, bhajana-anukūla. “Unless one associates with a pure devotee, he cannot be influenced to understand devotional service.” These Māyāvādī sannyāsīs were fortunate enough to meet the Supreme Personality of Godhead in the form of a devotee, and certainly, they were greatly influenced by the Lord. They knew that since a perfectly advanced spiritualist never says anything false, all his words are reasonable and agree with the Vedic version.

Govinda Bhasya is the commentary on Vedanata Sutra by Vaishnavas. There is no need for commentary, but they do so as they have to refute Sankaracharya’s commentary.

CC ADI 7.101: “Dear Sir, there is no objection to Your being a great devotee of Lord Kṛṣṇa. Everyone is satisfied with this. But why do You avoid discussion on the Vedānta-sūtra? What is the fault in it?”

CC ADI 7.102: After hearing the Māyāvādī sannyāsīs speak in that way, Lord Caitanya Mahāprabhu smiled slightly and said, “My dear sirs, if you don’t mind I can say something to you regarding Vedānta philosophy.”

CC ADI 7.103: Hearing this, the Māyāvādī sannyāsīs became somewhat humble and addressed Caitanya Mahāprabhu as Nārāyaṇa Himself, who they all agreed He was.

Nārāyaṇa has four hands, but although they are puffed up with the idea of being Nārāyaṇa, they cannot exhibit more than two. Therefore although all these Māyāvādī sannyāsīs who called themselves Nārāyaṇa were actually unaware of the position of Nārāyaṇa, due to their austerities Lord Caitanya Mahāprabhu enabled them to understand Him to be Nārāyaṇa Himself. Lord Caitanya is certainly the Supreme Personality of Godhead Nārāyaṇa appearing as a devotee of Nārāyaṇa, and thus the Māyāvādī sannyāsīs, understanding that He was directly Nārāyaṇa Himself whereas they were false, puffed-up Nārāyaṇas, spoke to Him as follows.

Shringeri temple, Keshava Bharati took sanyaas from them. They are treated like God. The spiritual master is treated as God. God in the flesh. The spiritual master is Sakshad Hari. They study the Sarira Bhashya by Sankaracharya.

Daridra Narayana – was introduced by Swami Vivekananda and Gandhi popularized it.

What is the scriptural reference… They take a verse from Srimad-Bhagavatam: SB 3/29… they misinterpret. Just because Paramatma in everyone’s heart, everyone is a God. Atma becomes Paramatma. Because it is nice to think that way. But yet, they are doing this. Dummies who never studied SB go along with them.

I am present in every living entity as the Supersoul. If someone neglects or disregards that Supersoul everywhere and engages himself in the worship of the Deity in the temple, that is simply imitation.

One who worships the Deity of God in the temples but does not know that the Supreme Lord, as Paramātmā, is situated in every living entity’s heart, must be in ignorance and is compared to one who offers oblations into ashes (Reference:http://gitabase.com/eng/SB/3/29)

Swamiji says the same thing in His famous poem translated as: To a Friend:

These are His manifold forms before thee,
Rejecting them, where seekest thou for God?
Who loves all beings without distinction,
He indeed is worshipping best his God.

Sri Bhagavan also orders to prostrate before all beings in Srimad-Bhagavtam.
‘Sarvam Vishnumayam Jagat’ (Everything in this world are a manifestation of Lord Vishnu), ‘Yatra yatra jivas tatra tatra Shivah’ (Every being is a manifestation of God) are very well-known sayings. The Destroyer has also mentioned ‘Manava-seva is Madhava-Seva’.
In other scriptures, like Gita and Viveka-Chudamoni also, seeing God in all beings and working for the welfare of all beings are highly praised. For example, nthe Gita says:

MANAVA SEVA MADHAVA SEVA:

everyone is misinterpreting this. They did it through multiple misinterpretations of Bhagavadgita, Srimad Bhagavatam, Shiva purana. This is very clever and demoniac. This diminishes Krsna to nothing.  This shows how people misinterpret things and create a false premise.

People who usually pass along like GOD. They let their disciples believe it.
When disciples start saying things, if the guru does not stop them, that means he is bogus.

GURU IS SAKSHAD HARI:
In the Spiritual master prayers, it says Guru is Sakshad Hari – That does not mean Guru became God. If he represents the same words as Krsna and Acharya,  he should be given the same respect as God, but that does not mean he is equal to God.
Prabhupada has gone through great effort to smash all these false premise theories.

GOD CANNOT BE KNOWN:

That means He cannot be known through speculation but can be known through Acaryas.

GOD IS ARUPAM:

that does not mean he has no form. He has no material form, he has spiritual form. We should listen to the Goswamis’ explanations. Srila Prabhupada says it in BG 7.7

(BG 7. 7) GOD IS ARUPAM
The impersonalist, however, argues on the strength of the Vedic version given in the Śvetāśvatara Upaniṣad (3.10): tato yad uttara-taraṁ tad arūpam anāmayam/ ya etad vidur amṛtās te bhavanti athetare duḥkham evāpiyanti. “In the material world Brahmā, the primeval living entity within the universe, is understood to be the supreme amongst the demigods, human beings and lower animals. But beyond Brahmā there is the Transcendence, who has no material form and is free from all material contaminations. Anyone who can know Him also becomes transcendental, but those who do not know Him suffer the miseries of the material world.”
The impersonalist puts more stress on the word arūpam. But this arūpam is not impersonal. It indicates the transcendental form of eternity, bliss and knowledge as described in the Brahma-saṁhitā quoted above. Other verses in the Śvetāśvatara Upaniṣad (3.8–9) substantiate this as follows:

“I know that Supreme Personality of Godhead who is transcendental to all material conceptions of darkness. Only he who knows Him can transcend the bonds of birth and death. There is no way for liberation other than this knowledge of that Supreme Person.

“There is no truth superior to that Supreme Person because He is the Supermost. He is smaller than the smallest, and He is greater than the greatest. He is situated as a silent tree, and He illumines the transcendental sky, and as a tree spreads its roots, He spreads His extensive energies.”

From these verses, one concludes that the Supreme Absolute Truth is the Supreme Personality of Godhead, who is all-pervading by His multi-energies, both material and spiritual.

MAYAVADIS PUT WORDS OUT OF CONTEXT,
How the Mayavadis can manufacture meanings, how the dummies go along with it. That is why translate BG & SB and he wanted to Translate Vedanta Sutra. The Mayavadis misquote from BG & SB.

SB 2.1.24 Notes – 03/18/2021

KEY TAKEAWAYS FROM HH HARIVILAS MAHARAJ’S MORNING BHAGAVATAM CLASS ON SB 2.1.24

  1. Less intelligent men cannot conceive the transcendental all-spiritual form of the Lord, but they are astounded by His different energies.
  2. The asuras cannot recognize the existence of the Lord. They want to see with their own eyes at once, therefore they can see the gigantic body of the Lord as virāṭ. Since they are accustomed to paying homage to superior material strength like that of the tiger, elephant and lightning, they can offer respect to the virāṭ-rūpa.
  3. The virāṭ-rūpa of the Lord was especially manifested, not for the benefit of Arjuna, but for that unintelligent class of men who accept anyone and everyone as an incarnation of the Lord and so mislead the general mass of people.
  4. People should be careful of many imposters who pose themselves as incarnations of God. They should ask the cheap incarnation to exhibit his virāṭ-rūpa and thus be established as an incarnation
  5. A pure devotee does not like to see Kṛṣṇa in any form except His form with two hands. He being unaccustomed to looking into such a mundane gigantic form of the Lord, requires special vision for this purpose. Arjuna was bestowed that special vision by the Lord to see His Virat Rupa.
  6. This virat rupa is a favor of the all-merciful Lord to the atheists and the gross materialists, who think of the Lord as virāṭ and thus gradually cleanse the dirty things from their hearts in order to become qualified to actually see the transcendental form of the Lord in the near future.
  7. Impersonalist Māyāvādīs always try to defy Vaiṣṇavas because Vaiṣṇavas accept the Supreme Personality as the supreme cause and want to serve Him, talk with Him and see Him, just as the Lord is also eager to see His devotees and talk, eat and dance with them. These personal exchanges of love do not appeal to the Māyāvādī sannyāsīs.
  8. The original purpose of the Māyāvādī sannyāsīs of Benares in meeting Caitanya Mahāprabhu was to defeat His personal conception of God.
  9. Śrīla Bhaktisiddhānta Sarasvatī Ṭhākura says, “Even at the expense of all the properties, temples and maṭhas that I have, if I could convert even one person into a pure devotee, my mission would be fulfilled.”
  10. The spiritual master is not actually happy if the disciple brings him money, but when he sees that a disciple is following the regulative principles and advancing in spiritual life, he is very glad and feels obliged to such an advanced disciple.
  11. It is another ambition of the spiritual master to see his disciples not only chant, dance and follow the regulative principles but also preach the saṅkīrtana movement to others in order to deliver them.
  12. Two classes of unalloyed devotees
    1. Bhajanānandī refers to one who is satisfied to cultivate devotional service for himself,
    2. goṣṭhy-ānandī is one who is not satisfied simply to become perfect himself but wants to see others also take advantage of the holy name of the Lord and advance in spiritual life. Ex: Bhakta Prahlad
  13. Everyone should endeavor to preach the cult of Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu in all parts of the world and thus become successful in spiritual life. Thus by the activities of a pure devotee even those who are bereft of love of Godhead get a chance to become devotees of the Lord one day
  14. Prahlad Maharaj says – “My dear Lord, I have no problems and want no benediction from You because I am quite satisfied to chant Your holy name. This is sufficient for me because whenever I chant I immediately merge in an ocean of transcendental bliss. I only lament to see others bereft of Your love. They are rotting in material activities for transient material pleasure and spoiling their lives toiling all day and night simply for sense gratification, with no attachment for love of Godhead. I am simply lamenting for them and devising various plans to deliver them from the clutches of māyā.” (Bhāg. 7.9.43)
  15. “prāṇa arthe yāñra sei hetu pracāra “One who has got life, he can preach.” The dead man cannot preach. So you become with life, not like dead man.”

SB 2.1.24 TRANSLATION

This gigantic manifestation of the phenomenal material world as a whole is the personal body of the Absolute Truth, wherein the universal resultant past, present and future of material time is experienced.

CLASS NOTES:

(SB 2.1.24)

Anything, either material or spiritual, is but an expansion of the energy of the Supreme Personality of Godhead. Although He is in His abode, His energy is distributed everywhere, just as the sun is localized as well as expanded everywhere, since the rays of the sun, being nondifferent from the sun, are accepted as expansions of the sun disc.

Less intelligent men cannot conceive of the transcendental all-spiritual form of the Lord, but they are astounded by His different energies,

The asuras cannot recognize the existence of the Lord. They want to see with their own eyes at once, therefore they can see the gigantic body of the Lord as virāṭ

  1. cannot recognize the existence of the Lord, although there are vivid descriptions of the Lord in the revealed scriptures, although the Lord incarnates and exhibits His uncommon strength and energy
  2. do not accept any evidential proof from the revealed scriptures,
  3. nor do they recognize the authority of the great ācāryas.
  4. they want to see with their own eyes at once.
  5. therefore they can see the gigantic body of the Lord as virāṭ, which will answer their challenge, and since they are accustomed to paying homage to superior material strength like that of the tiger, elephant and lightning, they can offer respect to the virāṭ-rūpa.

(SB 2.1.24) A PURE DEVOTEE OF THE LORD REQUIRES SPECIAL VISION TO SEE THE VIRAT RUPA

Lord Kṛṣṇa, by the request of Arjuna, exhibited His virāṭ-rūpa for the asuras. A pure devotee of the Lord, being unaccustomed to looking into such a mundane gigantic form of the Lord, requires special vision for the purpose

(BG 11.10 – 11) BY THE GRACE OF THE LORD, ARJUNA COULD SEE THEM WHILE SITTING IN ONE PLACE. THAT WAS DUE TO THE INCONCEIVABLE POTENCY OF KṚṢṆA.

(BG 11.8) A PURE DEVOTEE DOES NOT LIKE TO SEE KṚṢṆA IN ANY FORM EXCEPT HIS FORM WITH TWO HANDS. THE LORD GAVE ARJUNA THE NECESSARY POWER TO SEE HIS UNIVERSAL FORM BECAUSE HE KNEW THAT ARJUNA DID NOT PARTICULARLY WANT TO SEE IT.
But you cannot see Me with your present eyes. Therefore I give you divine eyes. Behold My mystic opulenceDevotees who are correctly situated in a transcendental relationship with Kṛṣṇa are attracted by loving features, not by a godless display of opulences. The playmates of Kṛṣṇa, the friends of Kṛṣṇa and the parents of Kṛṣṇa never want Kṛṣṇa to show His opulences. They are so immersed in pure love that they do not even know that Kṛṣṇa is the Supreme Personality of Godhead. In their loving exchange they forget that Kṛṣṇa is the Supreme Lord. In the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam it is stated that the boys who play with Kṛṣṇa are all highly pious souls, and after many, many births they are able to play with Kṛṣṇa. Such boys do not know that Kṛṣṇa is the Supreme Personality of Godhead. They take Him as a personal friend.

The fact is that the devotee is not concerned with seeing the viśva-rūpa, the universal form, but Arjuna wanted to see it to substantiate Kṛṣṇa’s statements so that in the future people could understand that Kṛṣṇa not only theoretically or philosophically presented Himself as the Supreme but actually presented Himself as such to Arjuna.

How come there is such a big gap in Parampara system? Vyasdeva and Madhavacharya there is 5000 year gap. Arjuna is not even in the list, because he was not an initiating guru. He was a siksha guru. Paramapara system was there ever before. But it was broken and It was reestablished. Today if someone claims to be an incarnation of the lord, ask them to show the universal form.

(SB 2.1.24) THIS VIRĀṬ-RŪPA OF THE LORD WAS ESPECIALLY MANIFESTED FOR THAT UNINTELLIGENT CLASS OF MEN WHO ACCEPT ANYONE AND EVERYONE AS AN INCARNATION OF THE LORD

This virāṭ-rūpa of the Lord was especially manifested, not for the benefit of Arjuna, but for that unintelligent class of men who accept anyone and everyone as an incarnation of the Lord and so mislead the general mass of people. For them, the indication is that one should ask the cheap incarnation to exhibit his virāṭ-rūpa and thus be established as an incarnation

(BG 11.3) Kṛṣṇa also understands that Arjuna wants to see the universal form to set a criterion, for in the future there would be so many imposters who would pose themselves as incarnations of God. The people, therefore, should be careful; one who claims to be Kṛṣṇa should be prepared to show his universal form to confirm his claim to the people.

(SB 2.1.24) THE VIRĀṬ-RŪPA MANIFESTATION OF THE LORD IS SIMULTANEOUSLY A CHALLENGE TO THE ATHEIST AND A FAVOR FOR THE ASURAS,

who think of the Lord as virāṭ and thus gradually cleanse the dirty things from their hearts in order to become qualified to actually see the transcendental form of the Lord in the near future. This is a favor of the all-merciful Lord to the atheists and the gross materialists.

Srila Prabhupada is developing his theory for reaching to the atheists and mayavadis. It is very good to see the clear delineation of asuras and materialists.
Majority of people are empiricists. They only accept what they can see and measure  with their senses. Actually many things which exist which cannot be seen with eyes. 5000 years ago if we say there are electromagnetic waves, or if we can fly in the sky, people will not believe. Now it is true. There are things people cannot see and measure. The strategy to preach to empiricists, atheists, genuine impersonalists and mayavadis is through the tactic of explaining universal form. Arjuna was shown the Virat rupa tor this purpose. Everything we see in this world is a combination of matter and spirit. Any living body is some type of combination of matter and spirit. Spirit in the form of Jiva or spirit in the form of paramatma.

Virat rupa encompasses everything material and beyond that.
“a challenge to the atheist and a favor for the asuras,” – Favor to asuras because they worship anything gigantic. Atheists who do not believe in God. Asuras belittle the God.
This is also explained when Lord Caitanya is explaining to Prakasananda Saraswati.

(CC ADI 7.99)THE MĀYĀVĀDĪS SAY THAT THE ULTIMATE SOURCE OF EVERYTHING IS IMPERSONAL, AND IN THIS WAY THEY DENY THE EXISTENCE OF GOD (PERSONAL CONCEPTION)

The Māyāvādī sannyāsīs met Caitanya Mahāprabhu at Vārāṇasī to criticize the Lord regarding His participation in the saṅkīrtana movement, which they did not like. This demonic nature of opposition to the saṅkīrtana movement perpetually exists. As it existed in the time of Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu, similarly it existed long before that, even in the time of Prahlāda Mahārāja.

The Māyāvādī sannyāsīs are āsuraṁ bhāvam āśritāḥ, which means that they have taken the path of the asuras (demons), who do not believe in the existence of the form of the Lord. The Māyāvādīs say that the ultimate source of everything is impersonal, and in this way they deny the existence of God. Saying that there is no God is direct denial of God, and saying that God exists but has no head, legs or hands and cannot speak, hear or eat is a negative way of denying His existence. A person who cannot see is called blind, one who cannot walk is called lame, one who has no hands is called helpless, one who cannot speak is called dumb, and one who cannot hear is called deaf. The Māyāvādīs’ proposition that God has no legs, no eyes, no ears and no hands is an indirect way of insulting Him by defining Him as blind, deaf, dumb, lame, helpless, etc. Therefore although they present themselves as great Vedāntists, they are factually māyayāpahṛta-jñāna; in other words, they seem to be very learned scholars, but the essence of their knowledge has been taken away.

Therefore the original purpose of the Māyāvādī sannyāsīs of Benares in meeting Caitanya Mahāprabhu was to defeat His personal conception of God.

We will continue from yesterday.

(CC ADI 7.89-90)

One who attains the perfection of existence is completely averse to material enjoyment and engrossed in transcendental love of Godhead. It is therefore to be concluded that the ecstatic symptoms of āśaya-śuddhi are visible when a devotee’s service has no material cause and is purely spiritual in nature.

Vaikunta is a place where there is formal worship of Lord. Goloka is a place where the pure love of God can e expressed without any reservations.

(CC ADI 7.91) A SPIRITUAL MASTER CAN CONVERT EVEN ONE SOUL INTO A PERFECTLY PURE DEVOTEE, HIS MISSION IN LIFE IS FULFILLED

“ ‘It is very good, my dear child, that You have attained the supreme goal of life by developing love of Godhead. Thus You have pleased me very much, and I am very much obliged to You.

According to the revealed scriptures, if a spiritual master can convert even one soul into a perfectly pure devotee, his mission in life is fulfilled. Śrīla Bhaktisiddhānta Sarasvatī Ṭhākura always used to say, “Even at the expense of all the properties, temples and maṭhas that I have, if I could convert even one person into a pure devotee, my mission would be fulfilled.” It is very difficult, however, to understand the science of Kṛṣṇa, what to speak of developing love of Godhead. Therefore if by the grace of Lord Caitanya and the spiritual master a disciple attains the standard of pure devotional service, the spiritual master is very happy. The spiritual master is not actually happy if the disciple brings him money, but when he sees that a disciple is following the regulative principles and advancing in spiritual life, he is very glad and feels obliged to such an advanced disciple.

Love of God is a very rare thing. It is very rare thing. But it is possible if we strictly follow the instruction of siksha and diskha guru and take to chanting. It becomes possible.

(CC ADI 7.92) IT IS ANOTHER AMBITION OF THE SPIRITUAL MASTER TO SEE HIS DISCIPLES NOT ONLY CHANT, DANCE AND FOLLOW THE REGULATIVE PRINCIPLES BUT ALSO PREACH THE SAṄKĪRTANA MOVEMENT TO OTHERS IN ORDER TO DELIVER THEM.

“ ‘My dear child, continue dancing, chanting and performing saṅkīrtana in association with devotees. Furthermore, go out and preach the value of chanting kṛṣṇa-nāma, for by this process You will be able to deliver all fallen souls.’

It is another ambition of the spiritual master to see his disciples not only chant, dance and follow the regulative principles but also preach the saṅkīrtana movement to others in order to deliver them.

Kṛṣṇa consciousness movement is based on the principle that one should become as perfect as possible in devotional service oneself and also preach the cult for others’ benefit.

There are two classes of unalloyed devotees —

Everyone should endeavor to preach the cult of Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu in all parts of the world and thus become successful in spiritual life. One who is not very expert in preaching may chant in a secluded place, avoiding bad association, but for one who is actually advanced, preaching and meeting people who are not engaged in devotional service are not disadvantages. A devotee gives the nondevotees his association but is not affected by their misbehavior. Thus by the activities of a pure devotee even those who are bereft of love of Godhead get a chance to become devotees of the Lord one day

Prahlad Maharaj was a great preacher. He would get up and start preaching to his classmates, even though he was in Kindergarten. We should chant and become Krsna Consciousness.
prāṇa arthe yāñra sei hetu pracāra “One who has got life, he can preach.” The dead man cannot preach. So you become with life, not like dead man.
There are so many people out there waiting to be introduced to Krsna Consciousness.
We have to have the childrens books, remember their birthdays, we have to be there every saturday and sunday to greet people to welcome them, make friends with them and make them part of our family.

SB 2.1.23 Notes – 03/17/2021

KEY TAKEAWAYS FROM HH HARIVILAS MAHARAJ’S MORNING BHAGAVATAM CLASS ON SB 2.1.23

  1. One should control the sitting posture, regulate the breathing process by the yogic prāṇāyāma and thus control the mind and senses and with intelligence apply the mind to the gross potencies of the Lord [called the virāṭ-rūpa]
  2. Unless such materialists are able to cleanse the materially absorbed mind, it is impossible for them to concentrate upon thoughts of transcendence. And to do so one may fix one’s mind on the gross material or external feature of the Lord. [called the virāṭ-rūpa]. This is prescribed by Sukhdev Goswami as many people cannot take to the fact that the little boy of Vrndavan is the Supreme Lord, the cause of all causes.]
  3. The real purpose of all these yogic regulations is to eradicate the accumulated dirty things like lust, anger, avarice and all such material contaminations.
  4. It is the nature of the Hare Kṛṣṇa mahā-mantra that anyone who chants it immediately develops his loving ecstasy for Kṛṣṇa.
  5. A devotee who chants, develops his original attitude of service to the Lord. In this attitude of constantly serving Kṛṣṇa, which is called bhāva, he always thinks of Kṛṣṇa in many different ways. One who has attained this bhāva stage is no longer under the clutches of the illusory energy.
  6. When the holy name is properly served (by taking hari naam initiation from a bonafide spiritual master and sincerely following the four regulative principles), automatically the spiritual nature of the holy name spreads; in other words, the devotee becomes qualified in offenselessly chanting the holy name.
  7. One who is actually advanced in the fulfillment of chanting the Hare Kṛṣṇa mahā-mantra induces others to chant also.
  8. Kṛṣṇadāsa Kavirāja Gosvāmī explains, kṛṣṇa-śakti vinā nahe tāra pravartana: unless one receives special power of attorney from the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu, he cannot preach the glories of the Hare Kṛṣṇa mahā-mantra.
  9. One should reject all ideas of religiosity, economic development, sense gratification and liberation and fully engage in the service of the Lord, which is transcendental to these four principles.
  10. As stated by Caitanya Mahāprabhu, the highest perfection in life is to develop one’s love for Kṛṣṇa (premā pum-artho mahān śrī-caitanya-mahāprabhor matam idam).
  11. Love of Godhead is the original function of the spirit soul, and it is as eternal as the soul and the Supreme Personality of Godhead. This eternity is called sanātana.
  12. When a devotee revives his loving service to the Supreme Personality of Godhead, it should be understood that he has been successful in achieving the desired goal of his life. At that time everything is automatically done by the mercy of the holy name, and the devotee automatically advances in his spiritual progress.

  15. If one who is not yet developed imitates such symptoms artificially, he creates chaos in the spiritual life of human society.
  16. Actual blissful life, manifested in genuine spiritual laughing, crying and dancing, is the symptom of real advancement in Kṛṣṇa consciousness, which can be achieved by a person who always voluntarily engages in the transcendental loving service of the Lord.
  17. “ ‘Perspiration, trembling, standing on end of one’s bodily hairs, tears, faltering voice, fading complexion, madness, melancholy, patience, pride, joy and humility — these are various natural symptoms of ecstatic love of Godhead, which causes a devotee to dance and float in an ocean of transcendental bliss while chanting the Hare Kṛṣṇa mantra.
  18. It is therefore to be concluded that the ecstatic symptoms of āśaya-śuddhi (perfection of devotional service) are visible when a devotee’s service has no material cause and is purely spiritual in nature.

SB 2.1.23 TRANSLATION:

Śukadeva Gosvāmī answered: One should control the sitting posture, regulate the breathing process by the yogic prāṇāyāma and thus control the mind and senses and with intelligence apply the mind to the gross potencies of the Lord [called the virāṭ-rūpa]

CLASS NOTES:

THE YOGA SYSTEM FOR MEDITATION IS PRESCRIBED IN ORDER TO MOLD THE CHARACTER OF THE GROSS MATERIALIST.

The materially absorbed mind of the conditioned soul does not allow him to transcend the limit of the bodily conception of self, and thus the yoga system for meditation (controlling the sitting posture and breathing process and fixing the mind upon the Supreme) is prescribed in order to mold the character of the gross materialist. Unless such materialists are able to cleanse the materially absorbed mind, it is impossible for them to concentrate upon thoughts of transcendence. And to do so one may fix one’s mind on the gross material or external feature of the Lord.

THE REAL PURPOSE OF YOGIC REGULATIONS IS TO ERADICATE THE ACCUMULATED DIRTY THINGS LIKE LUST, ANGER, AVARICE AND ALL SUCH MATERIAL CONTAMINATIONS.

The materialistic men are very anxious to have some mystic powers as a result of such a controlling process, but the real purpose of yogic regulations is to eradicate the accumulated dirty things like lust, anger, avarice and all such material contaminations. If the mystic yogī is diverted by the accompanying feats of mystic control, then his mission of yogic success is a failure, because the ultimate aim is God realization

He is therefore recommended to fix his gross materialistic mind by a different conception and thus realize the potency of the Lord. As soon as the potencies are understood to be instrumental manifestations of the transcendence, one automatically advances to the next step, and gradually the stage of full realization becomes possible for him.

A person goes to church, but is still a materialist. A person goes to temple, but is still a materialist. When it is self-imposed it is almost impossible to free them due to false ego. Therefore when one is attracted to yoga for material goals. Use one material thing to get rid of another material thing. (so one may fix one’s mind on the gross material or external feature of the Lord.) The whole idea is if you fix your mind on impersonal light, then you will never achieve the goal of yoga system. You should fix your mind on the Supreme.  If one has difficulty, they really dont like Krsna, Rama or Narayana, they can meditate on Virat rupa.

As Lord Caitanya recommended the Original form of Krsna as the source of everything, we go through the direct conception of achieving the Lord. Sri Vaishnavas worship Narayana. For materialists, it is easy for them to go through the universal form than Narayana or Krsna. Everyone is interested in the potency, energy. That is the segway to eventually understanding the Supreme Personality of Godhead. Why are we doing this, instead of
directly reaidng 10th canto. The purpose of all this knowledge to be able to preach to these people who are gross materialists. Hearing this is very beneficial if you advance in devotional service you want to be a preacher. The best preacher is Lord Caitanya, and whoever is completely surrendered to Lord Caitanya, 6 Goswamis, Bhakti Vinod Thakur, … Srila Prabhupada. They took the time to hear all the cantos of SB one by one and they and did not jump to Canto 10. To understand these things and the result will be to become an expert preacher to convince everyone. We will continue to read from the past time of Caitanya Mahaprabhu and Prakasananda, Mayavadi Sanyasi..

(CC ADI 7.83) THE ATTITUDE OF CONSTANTLY SERVING KṚṢṆA IS CALLED BHĀVA

“ ‘It is the nature of the Hare Kṛṣṇa mahā-mantra that anyone who chants it immediately develops his loving ecstasy for Kṛṣṇa.

A neophyte disciple begins by hearing and chanting, associating with devotees and practicing the regulative principles, and thus he vanquishes all of his unwanted bad habits. In this way he develops attachment for Kṛṣṇa and cannot forget Kṛṣṇa even for a moment. Bhāva is the almost successful stage of spiritual life.

While chanting and dancing or hearing the holy name of the Lord, one automatically remembers the Supreme Personality of Godhead, and because there is no difference between the holy name and Kṛṣṇa, the chanter is immediately linked with Kṛṣṇa. Thus connected, a devotee develops his original attitude of service to the Lord. In this attitude of constantly serving Kṛṣṇa, which is called bhāva, he always thinks of Kṛṣṇa in many different ways. One who has attained this bhāva stage is no longer under the clutches of the illusory energy. When other spiritual ingredients, such as trembling, perspiration and tears, are added to this bhāva stage, the devotee gradually attains love of Kṛṣṇa.

A sincere student aurally receives the holy name from the spiritual master, and after being initiated he follows the regulative principles given by the spiritual master. When the holy name is properly served in this way, automatically the spiritual nature of the holy name spreads; in other words, the devotee becomes qualified in offenselessly chanting the holy name.

Thus all the disciples of such a spiritual master increase in attachment for Kṛṣṇa, and therefore he sometimes cries, sometimes laughs, sometimes dances and sometimes chants. These symptoms are very prominently manifest in the body of a pure devotee.

ONE WHO IS ACTUALLY ADVANCED IN THE FULFILLMENT OF CHANTING THE HARE KṚṢṆA MAHĀ-MANTRA INDUCES OTHERS TO CHANT ALSO.

Kṛṣṇadāsa Kavirāja Gosvāmī explains, kṛṣṇa-śakti vinā nahe tāra pravartana: unless one receives special power of attorney from the Supreme Personality of Godhead, he cannot preach the glories of the Hare Kṛṣṇa mahā-mantra. As devotees propagate the Hare Kṛṣṇa mahā-mantra, the general population of the entire world gets the opportunity to understand the glories of the holy name.

(CC ANTYA 7.11): UNLESS ONE RECEIVES SPECIAL POWER OF ATTORNEY FROM THE SUPREME PERSONALITY OF GODHEAD, HE CANNOT PREACH THE GLORIES OF THE HARE KṚṢṆA MAHĀ-MANTRA
kali-kālera dharma — kṛṣṇa-nāma-saṅkīrtana
kṛṣṇa-śakti vinā nahe tāra pravartana

Unless one is empowered by the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu, one cannot spread the holy names of the Hare Kṛṣṇa mahā-mantra throughout the world. Persons who do so are empowered. Therefore they are sometimes called āveśa-avatāras, or empowered incarnations, for they are endowed with the power of Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu.

One may say I am preaching no one is listening or changing. That is because you are not yet purified and have not gotten the mercy of the Lord, Caitanya MahaPrabhu.
Krsna Consciousness is not an academic study, it is not something you need to practice for many years. It is simple for the honest and difficult for the dishonest.

CC ADI 7.84
“ ‘Religiosity, economic development, sense gratification and liberation are known as the four goals of life, but before love of Godhead, the fifth and highest goal, these appear as insignificant as straw in the street.

The devotee knows that Religiosity, economic development, sense gratification and liberation as the stepping stones to Krsna Consciousness. Either one takes the stepping stones of KC or directly takes to Krsna Consciousness. Srila Prabhupada explains this in the following verse.

BG 8.28
The beauty of Kṛṣṇa consciousness, however, is that by one stroke, by engaging in devotional service, one can surpass all the rituals of the different orders of life.

Although Varnashrama system is the best way to organize society, so general people in the society can make gradual progress to the point of Krsna Consciousness. But, If one is very sincere and humble one can immediately come to Krsna Consciousness. It is the beginning and not the end. You cannot attain Prema Bhakti immediately. Go through the gradual process of Shradha, Sadhu Sangha, bhajana kriya, anartha nivritti, Nistha, Ruchi,…. bhava, prema. Srila Prabhupada was asked are your devotees pure. He said – Yes they are pure, what remains is purifying the purity.

WHILE CHANTING THE HOLY NAME OF THE LORD, ONE SHOULD NOT DESIRE THE MATERIAL ADVANCEMENTS REPRESENTED BY RELIGIOSITY, ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT, SENSE GRATIFICATION AND ULTIMATELY LIBERATION FROM THE MATERIAL WORLD.

As stated by Caitanya Mahāprabhu, the highest perfection in life is to develop one’s love for Kṛṣṇa (premā pum-artho mahān śrī-caitanya-mahāprabhor matam idam).
When we compare love of Godhead with religiosity, economic development, sense gratification and liberation, they are very insignificant in the eyes of a pure devotee who has developed bhāva, the preliminary stage of love of Godhead.

ONE SHOULD REJECT ALL IDEAS OF RELIGIOSITY, ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT, SENSE GRATIFICATION AND LIBERATION AND FULLY ENGAGE IN THE SERVICE OF THE LORD, WHICH IS TRANSCENDENTAL TO THESE FOUR PRINCIPLES.

Dharma (religiosity), artha (economic development), kāma (sense gratification) and mokṣa (liberation) are the four principles of religion that pertain to the material world. Therefore in the beginning of Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam it is declared, dharmaḥ projjhita-kaitavo ’tra: cheating religious systems in terms of these four material principles are completely discarded from Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam, for Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam teaches only how to develop one’s dormant love of God. The Bhagavad-gītā is the preliminary study of Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam, and therefore it ends with the words sarva-dharmān parityajya mām ekaṁ śaraṇaṁ vraja: “Abandon all varieties of religion and just surrender unto Me.” (Bg. 18.66) To adopt this means, one should reject all ideas of religiosity, economic development, sense gratification and liberation and fully engage in the service of the Lord, which is transcendental to these four principles.

Why did Srila Prabhupada at the end, say that only 50 percent of my work is done and the other 50 percent is to establish the Varnashrama system. Why does he say that? That is because he knows that not everybody will take to Krsna Consciousness. Prabhupada himself initiated 4500 disciples and what is the population of the world. He is talking about billions of other people. Varnashrama system is the best system for organizing the society and gradually bring people to Krsna Consciousness. This is the best social organization much better than, socialism, anarchism…

LOVE OF GODHEAD IS THE ORIGINAL FUNCTION OF THE SPIRIT SOUL, AND IT IS AS ETERNAL AS THE SOUL AND THE SUPREME PERSONALITY OF GODHEAD. THIS ETERNITY IS CALLED SANĀTANA.

When a devotee revives his loving service to the Supreme Personality of Godhead, it should be understood that he has been successful in achieving the desired goal of his life. At that time everything is automatically done by the mercy of the holy name, and the devotee automatically advances in his spiritual progress.

That is when Krsna takes over. Let me take the reigns now. You just sit down for a ride. Before that we were navigating the complexities of the life. Love of God head is the original position of the Jiva. We are not the andhra, telangana, tamil, We are the servant of the Lord.

CC ADI 7.85
“ ‘For a devotee who has actually developed bhāva, the pleasure derived from dharma, artha, kāma and mokṣa appears like a drop in the presence of the sea.

CC ADI 7.86
“ ‘The conclusion of all revealed scriptures is that one should awaken his dormant love of Godhead. You are greatly fortunate to have already done so.

This is Eswara Puri, the teacher of Caitanya MahaPrabhu explaining Him what he is seeing is the state of Love of Godhead.

CC ADI 7.87
“ ‘It is a characteristic of love of Godhead that by nature it induces transcendental symptoms in one’s body and makes one more and more greedy to achieve the shelter of the lotus feet of the Lord.

It is the good greed as opposed to the bad greed. Instead of being greedy for money and sense gratification, One becomes greedy for the love of God.

CC ADI 7.88 V Important purport
“ ‘When one actually develops love of Godhead, he naturally sometimes cries, sometimes laughs, sometimes chants and sometimes runs here and there just like a madman.

ONE WHO IS NOT YET DEVELOPED IMITATES SUCH SYMPTOMS ARTIFICIALLY, HE CREATES CHAOS IN THE SPIRITUAL LIFE OF HUMAN SOCIETY.

In this connection Bhaktisiddhānta Sarasvatī Gosvāmī says that sometimes persons who have no love of Godhead at all display ecstatic bodily symptoms. Artificially they sometimes laugh, cry and dance just like madmen, but this cannot help one progress in Kṛṣṇa consciousness. Rather, such artificial agitation of the body is to be given up when one naturally develops the necessary bodily symptoms. Actual blissful life, manifested in genuine spiritual laughing, crying and dancing, is the symptom of real advancement in Kṛṣṇa consciousness, which can be achieved by a person who always voluntarily engages in the transcendental loving service of the Lord. If one who is not yet developed imitates such symptoms artificially, he creates chaos in the spiritual life of human society.

Everything has been explained by Prabhupada. Reading just the verses is misleading, if the purports of Prabhupada are not read. What Prabhupada predicted here actually happened. There is one person in the movement, who was really nice and everyone loved him and he artificially wanted to attain these symptoms of prema and it ruined his life. Many of his disciples left the movement.

CC ADI 7.89 -90
“ ‘Perspiration, trembling, standing on end of one’s bodily hairs, tears, faltering voice, fading complexion, madness, melancholy, patience, pride, joy and humility — these are various natural symptoms of ecstatic love of Godhead, which causes a devotee to dance and float in an ocean of transcendental bliss while chanting the Hare Kṛṣṇa mantra.

Transcendental love of Godhead is not under the jurisdiction of the material energy, for it is the transcendental bliss and pleasure potency of the Supreme Personality of Godhead. Since the Supreme Lord is also under the influence of transcendental bliss, when one comes in touch with such bliss in love of Godhead, one’s heart melts, and the symptoms of this are standing of the hairs on end, etc. Sometimes a person thus melts and manifests these transcendental symptoms yet at the same time is not well behaved in his personal transactions. This indicates that he has not yet reached complete perfection in devotional life. In other words, a devotee who dances in ecstasy but after dancing and crying appears to be attracted to material affairs has not yet reached the perfection of devotional service, which is called āśaya-śuddhi, or the perfection of existence. These are characteristics of transcendental love of Godhead, as stated in Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam (1.2.6):

sa vai puṁsāṁ paro dharmo yato bhaktir adhokṣaje
ahaituky apratihatā yayātmā suprasīdati

“That religion is best which causes its followers to become ecstatic in love of God that is unmotivated and free from material impediments, for this alone can completely satisfy the self.”

KEY TAKEAWAYS FROM HH HARIVILAS MAHARAJ’S MORNING BHAGAVATAM CLASS ON SB 2.1.22

  1. The dirty things in the heart of a conditioned soul are the root cause of all troubles for him.
  2.  A conditioned soul is surrounded by the manifold miseries of material existence, but on account of his gross ignorance, he is unable to remove the troubles due to dirty things in the heart, accumulated during the long prison life in the material world.
  3. The living entity is actually meant to serve the will of the Supreme Lord, but on account of the dirty things in the heart, he likes to serve his concocted desires.
  4. These desires, instead of giving him any peace of mind, create new problems and thus bind him to the cycle of repeated birth and death. (merry go round of misery)
  5. These dirty things of fruitive work and empiric philosophy can be removed only by the association with the Supreme Lord.
  6. Devotees are associating with the Supreme Lord through chanting, hearing, book distribution, preaching etc.
  7. The Lord, being omnipotent, can offer His association by His inconceivable potencies.
  8. Thus persons who are unable to pin their faith on the personal feature of the Absolute are given a chance to associate with His virāṭ-rūpa, or the cosmic impersonal feature of the Lord. Even the conception of His impersonal cosmic feature helps the conditioned soul to associate with the Lord indirectly and thus gradually rise to the stage of personal contact.
  9. For the benefit of men who are unable to accept the Lord in His personal eternal form, Mahārāja Parīkṣit inquired from Śukadeva Gosvāmī how to fix the mind on Him to remove the dirty things in one’s mind.
  10. All these dirty things have been carried over millions and millions of births the living entity has taken. It is understandable that many unclean things have entered into the mind and also the heart. The mind receives the impressions from all the senses and keeps them in the memory. So it is important to learn what is right and what is wrong, what is acceptable, not acceptable, “pravṛttiṁ ca nivṛttiṁ ca”This is education.
  11. When a person makes a vow of four regulative principles, it is the beginning of knowledge. What is to be done and what is not to be done.
  12. It is the responsibility of the parents to protect the children as long as they are under their tutelage (up to 16 yrs). It is very important to make sure that their minds are not crowded with dirty things. We need to educate the children about what is right and what is wrong. The body has 9 holes. Who we are is determined by what we let in those nine holes. See no evil, hear no evil, smell no evil, eat no evil ….. Closing the gates for these unholy things is the first thing kids should learn. (BG 18.30) is the pedagogy of KC that parents need to teach kids.
  13. One who does not know the scriptural directions becomes entangled in the actions and reactions of work. Understanding which discriminates by intelligence is situated in the mode of goodness.

SB 2.1.22 TRANSLATION:

The fortunate King Parīkṣit, inquiring further, said: O brāhmaṇa, please describe in full detail how and where the mind has to be applied and how the conception can be fixed so that the dirty things in a person’s mind can be removed.

CLASS NOTES:

DIRTY DESIRES BIND LIVING ENTITIES TO THE REPEATED CYCLE OF BIRTH AND DEATH
The dirty things in the heart of a conditioned soul are the root cause of all troubles for him. A conditioned soul is surrounded by the manifold miseries of material existence, but on account of his gross ignorance, he is unable to remove the troubles due to dirty things in the heart, accumulated during the long prison life in the material world. He is actually meant to serve the will of the Supreme Lord, but on account of the dirty things in the heart, he likes to serve his concocted desires. These desires, instead of giving him any peace of mind, create new problems and thus bind him to the cycle of repeated birth and death.

THESE DIRTY THINGS OF FRUITIVE WORK AND EMPIRIC PHILOSOPHY CAN BE REMOVED ONLY BY ASSOCIATION WITH THE SUPREME LORD.

The Lord, being omnipotent, can offer His association by His inconceivable potencies. Thus persons who are unable to pin their faith on the personal feature of the Absolute are given a chance to associate with His virāṭ-rūpa, or the cosmic impersonal feature of the Lord. The cosmic impersonal feature of the Lord is a feature of His unlimited potencies. Since the potent and potencies are identical, even the conception of His impersonal cosmic feature helps the conditioned soul to associate with the Lord indirectly and thus gradually rise to the stage of personal contact.

MAHĀRĀJA PARĪKṢIT WAS ALREADY DIRECTLY CONNECTED WITH THE PERSONAL FEATURE OF THE LORD ŚRĪ KṚṢṆA, AND AS SUCH HE HAD NO NEED TO INQUIRE FROM ŚUKADEVA GOSVĀMĪ

about where and how to apply the mind in the impersonal virāṭ-rūpa of the Lord. But he inquired after a detailed description of the matter for the benefit of others, who are unable to conceive of the transcendental personal feature of the Lord as the form of eternity, knowledge and bliss.

THE NONDEVOTEE CLASS OF MEN CANNOT THINK OF THE PERSONAL FEATURE OF THE LORD.

Because of their poor fund of knowledge, the personal form of the Lord, like Rāma or Kṛṣṇa, is completely revolting to them. They have a poor estimation of the potency of the Lord. In the Bhagavad-gītā (9.11) it is explained by the Lord Himself that people with a poor fund of knowledge deride the supreme personality of the Lord, taking Him to be a common man. Such men are ignorant of the inconceivable potency of the Lord. By the inconceivable potency of the Lord, He can move in human society or any other society of living beings and yet remain the same omnipotent Lord, without deviating in the slightest from His transcendental position. So, for the benefit of men who are unable to accept the Lord in His personal eternal form, Mahārāja Parīkṣit inquired from Śukadeva Gosvāmī how to fix the mind on Him in the beginning, and the Gosvāmī replied in detail as follows.

To have passed through many many many births and deaths in many many different species and finally come to the human form of life, it is understandable that many unclean things have entered into our mind and also our heart. Minds does 2 functions, it receives the impressions or experiences from the other 5 senses and keeps them in the memory. If the senses are engaged in gross sense gratification, our memory space becomes full of dirty things. Therefore Parents protect the children from dirty things when they are under their tutelage.  Up to 16 yrs old. So that they don’t crowd their mind with unclean dirty things. It is harder and harder these days. As we have social media. Therefore it is very important – One should learn what is right and what is wrong, what is acceptable, not acceptable, what we can offer and not offer to Krsna. This is education. This is the fundamental education every kid should learn. This is the absolute level of understanding. Unless we teach them we are not responsible parents.

BG 18.30

pravṛttiṁ ca nivṛttiṁ ca
kāryākārye bhayābhaye
bandhaṁ mokṣaṁ ca yā vetti
buddhiḥ sā pārtha sāttvikī

O son of Pṛthā, that understanding by which one knows what ought to be done and what ought not to be done, what is to be feared and what is not to be feared, what is binding and what is liberating, is in the mode of goodness.

Performing actions in terms of the directions of the scriptures is called pravṛtti, or executing actions that deserve to be performed. And actions which are not so directed are not to be performed. One who does not know the scriptural directions becomes entangled in the actions and reactions of work. Understanding which discriminates by intelligence is situated in the mode of goodness.

To build up the intelligence of a child. It begins with the understanding of what should be done and what should not be done. When a person makes a vow to follow the four regulative principles, it is the beginning of knowledge. What is to be done and what is not to be done. Unless we teach our kids these principles of what needs to be done and what not to be done they are not educated. When kids are introduced to alien nonsense in the schools and society, they will be able to discriminate, if they learn what is right and what is wrong.  Education is not simply learning facts. Being able to discriminate between what is Krsna Conscious and what is not. The body has 9 holes. (2 eyes, mouth, 2 ears, genital, anus) Who we are is determined by what we let in, in those nine holes.  See no evil, hear no evil, smell no evil, eat no evil ….. .
Closing the gates for these unholy things is the first things kids should learn. It should be the pedagogy. Pedagogy – method, and practice of teaching especially as an academic subject or a theoretical subject.
When your neighbor comes and puts all the trash in your house even though your house is new the house becomes trash and you cannot stay in it anymore..This is how the minds of the children get dirty by theirs education and association. (Big bang,,,, ). Whatever you learn in the youth will stay with you for life. “Child is the father of a Man” Right away kids should learn Pravrittim ca nivrittam ca…. what should be done, what should not be done…. This is an important verse to form the Krsna Consciousness Pedagogy.

Empiric – things that can be perceived only by the senses. Senses are imperfect and limited. Example – Flying to India and through the window of the plane and how much of the Atlantic ocean can you see?
All these space explorations are a waste of money.
We are associating with the lord – by chanting, by hearing, by distributing books, preaching to people. This is the difference between devotee and nondevotee. Nondevotees go to movies, pubs etc.,  Those persons who are unable to pin their faith are directed towards the Virat rupa, as they can relate more to the higher energy, they cannot relate to a little boy is the cause of all causes and source of everything.

Very interesting purport, SP develops a theme from one verse to another….
Paramatma is present in every atom.

SB 2.1.21 Notes – 03/15/21

KEY TAKEAWAYS FROM HH HARIVILAS MAHARAJ’S MORNING BHAGAVATAM CLASS ON SB 2.1.21

  1. No spiritual process( karma yoga, jnana yoga, dhyana yoga, pantheism etc,…) can be successful without connection with Krsna.  Even the impersonalists become obsessed with the personal feature of the Lord after a pure devotee intervenes. Example – 4 Kumaras, Sukhdev Goswami, etc.,
  2. There are 3 stages of spiritual advancement –
    • Sambandha-jñāna: refers to establishing one’s original relationship with the Supreme Personality of Godhead,
    • Abhidheya: refers to acting according to that constitutional relationship,
    • Prayojana: is the ultimate goal of life, which is to develop the love of Godhead (premā pum-artho mahān).
  3. Simply by chanting the holy name of Kṛṣṇa
    • one can obtain freedom from material existence.
    • one will be able to see the lotus feet of the Lord.
    • one can completely be liberated from conditioned existence
    • one can directly engage in the service of the Lord
    • one can overcome all misconceptions and entanglement in the material world
  4. A person who is addicted to the chanting of the Hare Kṛṣṇa mantra very easily gets the opportunity to serve the Supreme Personality of Godhead directly.
  5. Simply addressing the energy of the Supreme Lord as Hare and the Lord Himself as Kṛṣṇa very soon situates the Lord within the heart of the devotee. By thus addressing Rādhā and Kṛṣṇa, one directly engages in His Lordship’s service.
  6. The essence of all revealed scriptures and all knowledge is present when one addresses the Lord and His energy by the Hare Kṛṣṇa mantra.
  7. Caitanya Maha Prabhu’s spiritual master instructed Him, – that one must read Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam regularly and with scrutiny to gradually become attached to the chanting of the Hare Kṛṣṇa mahā-mantra.
  8. The holy name and the Lord are identical. One who is completely free from the clutches of māyā can understand this fact. This knowledge, which is achieved by the mercy of the spiritual master, places one on the supreme transcendental platform.
  9. Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu hints that to chant the holy name of Kṛṣṇa one does not need to speculate on the philosophical aspects of the science of God.
  10. Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu, as an ideal teacher, shows us how a disciple should deal with his spiritual master. Whenever there is doubt regarding any point, he should refer the matter to his spiritual master for clarification. in any condition, even when liberated, we should never think of ourselves as independent of the spiritual master, but must refer to him as soon as there is some doubt regarding our progressive spiritual life.
  11. One who chants maha-mantra sincerely under the guidance of a bonafide spiritual master increases attachment for Kṛṣṇa, and therefore he sometimes cries, sometimes laughs, sometimes dances, and sometimes chants. These symptoms are very prominently manifest in the body of a pure devotee.
  12.  ‘It is the nature of the Hare Kṛṣṇa mahā-mantra that anyone who chants it immediately develops his loving ecstasy for Kṛṣṇa. It is the preliminary stage ( bhāva, ecstasy, which is the point at which revelation begins) in developing one’s original love for God. Lord Kṛṣṇa mentions this bhāva stage in the Bhagavad-gītā (10.8)
  13. Therefore, It is the aspiration of a devotee that while he chants the Hare Kṛṣṇa mahā-mantra his eyes will fill with tears, his voice falters and his heartthrobs. These are good signs in chanting the holy name of the Lord.

SB 2.1.21 TRANSLATION:

CLASS NOTES:

SUCCESS OF MYSTIC PERFORMANCES IS ACHIEVED ONLY BY THE HELP OF THE DEVOTIONAL ATTITUDE.

Pantheism, or the system of feeling the presence of the Almighty everywhere, is a sort of training of the mind to become accustomed to the devotional conception, and it is this devotional attitude of the mystic that makes possible the successful termination of such mystic attempts. One is not, however, elevated to such a successful status without the tinge of the mixture in devotional service.

The devotional atmosphere created by pantheistic vision develops into devotional service in later days, and that is the only benefit for the impersonalist.

It is confirmed in the Bhagavad-gītā (12.5) that the impersonal way of self-realization is more troublesome because it reaches the goal in an indirect way, although the impersonalist also becomes obsessed with the personal feature of the Lord after a long time.

Mayavadis are guaranteeing themselves a fall down. However, one may achieve spiritual perfection by the association of a pure devotee. Kumaras only became actual devotees when they bowed down the feet of Narayana and smelled the Tulasi leaves. Sukhdev Goswami also was an impersonalist, he stayed in the mother’s womb, and after hearing from his father he became a devotee.  No spiritual process (karma yoga, jnana yoga, dhyana yoga,…) can be successful without connection with Krsna.

Maharaj was offering a banana to Krsna’s picture. He met an impersonalist who was dressed like a sadhu and he said he was born in Vrindavan. Maharaj was so happy to meet him. He was new to the movement very excited to meet someone from Vrndavan. He did not meet Prabhupada yet. Sadhu took the banana from Maharaj and gave it to the girl who came there. “Why did you take the banana from me?” He said your guru did not

teach you, this girl is Krsna.” Later that sadhu was doing all twists and turns and asanas on the stage. Later Maharaj understood that the person gave the banana to the girl not because she was Krsna. Because of his attraction towards her.

Unless the impersonalists get into the association of pure devotees, they remain incomplete.

Why the lord himself took initiation from Prakashananda in Sankaracharya sampradaya. One day students said to him Gopi, Gopi, Why was he chanting Gopi… because he was seeing Gopis in his transcendental ecstasy. He took Sanyasa initiation in Sankaracharya sampradaya, so he can preach to everyone not only Vaishnavas. Sarvabhauma Bhattacharya took Him under his purview and started teaching him Vedanta for an entire week. Caitanya MP did not say anything for the entire week. But in the end, MahaThe so-called kid knows Vedanta in and out. ..

Three stages to understand Krsna – Sambandha, Abhideya, Prayojana.

CC ADI 7.71: Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu replied to Prakāśānanda Sarasvatī, “My dear sir, kindly hear the reason. My spiritual master considered Me a fool, and therefore he chastised Me.

CC ADI 7.72: “ ‘You are a fool,’ he said. ‘You are not qualified to study Vedānta philosophy, and therefore You must always chant the holy name of Kṛṣṇa. This is the essence of all mantras, or Vedic hymns.

CC ADI 7.73: “ “ ‘Simply by chanting the holy name of Kṛṣṇa one can obtain freedom from material existence. Indeed, simply by chanting the Hare Kṛṣṇa mantra one will be able to see the lotus feet of the Lord.

THREE STAGES TO UNDERSTAND KRSNA

According to the Vedic principles, there are three stages of spiritual advancement, namely:

Sambandha-jñāna: refers to establishing one’s original relationship with the Supreme Personality of Godhead,

Abhidheya: refers to acting according to that constitutional relationship, and

Prayojana: is the ultimate goal of life, which is to develop love of Godhead (premā pum-artho mahān).

If one adheres to the regulative principles under the order of the spiritual master, he very easily achieves the ultimate goal of his life. A person who is addicted to the chanting of the Hare Kṛṣṇa mantra very easily gets the opportunity to serve the Supreme Personality of Godhead directly

Simply addressing the energy of the Supreme Lord as Hare and the Lord Himself as Kṛṣṇa very soon situates the Lord within the heart of the devotee. By thus addressing Rādhā and Kṛṣṇa, one directly engages in His Lordship’s service. The essence of all revealed scriptures and all knowledge is present when one addresses the Lord and His energy by the Hare Kṛṣṇa mantra, for this transcendental vibration can completely liberate a conditioned soul and directly engage him in the service of the Lord.

ŚRĪ CAITANYA MAHĀPRABHU PRESENTED HIMSELF AS A GRAND FOOL, YET HE MAINTAINED THAT ALL THE WORDS THAT HE HAD HEARD FROM HIS SPIRITUAL MASTER STRICTLY FOLLOWED THE PRINCIPLES STATED BY VYĀSADEVA IN ŚRĪMAD-BHĀGAVATAM (1.7.6).

anarthopaśamaṁ sākṣād bhakti-yogam adhokṣaje
lokasyājānato vidvāṁś cakre sātvata-saṁhitām

“The material miseries of a living entity, which are superfluous to him, can be directly mitigated by the linking process of devotional service. But the mass of people do not know this, and therefore the learned Vyāsadeva compiled this Vedic literature [Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam], which is in relation to the Supreme Truth.”

One can overcome all misconceptions and entanglement in the material world by practicing bhakti-yoga, and therefore Vyāsadeva, acting on the instruction of Śrī Nārada, has very kindly introduced Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam to relieve the conditioned souls from the clutches of māyā. Lord Caitanya’s spiritual master instructed Him, therefore, that one must read Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam regularly and with scrutiny to gradually become attached to the chanting of the Hare Kṛṣṇa mahā-mantra.

The holy name and the Lord are identical. One who is completely free from the clutches of māyā can understand this fact. This knowledge, which is achieved by the mercy of the spiritual master, places one on the supreme transcendental platform. Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu presented Himself as a fool because prior to accepting the shelter of a spiritual master He could not understand that simply by chanting one can be relieved from all material conditions. But as soon as He became a faithful servant of His spiritual master and followed his instructions, He very easily saw the path of liberation. Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu’s chanting of the Hare Kṛṣṇa mantra must be understood to be devoid of all offenses.

(CC ADI 7.74) CHANTING THE HOLY NAME IS THE ESSENCE OF ALL VEDIC HYMNS
“ ‘In this Age of Kali there is no religious principle other than the chanting of the holy name, which is the essence of all Vedic hymns. This is the purport of all scriptures.’

(CC ADI 7.75)
“After describing the potency of the Hare Kṛṣṇa mahā-mantra, My spiritual master taught Me another verse, advising Me to always keep it within My throat.

(CC ADI 7.76) FOR SPIRITUAL PROGRESS IN THIS AGE OF KALI, NO ALTERNATIVE TO THE HOLY NAME.

“ ‘For spiritual progress in this Age of Kali, there is no alternative, there is no alternative, there is no alternative to the holy name, the holy name, the holy name of the Lord.’

To chant the holy name of the Lord, one need not depend upon other paraphernalia, for one can immediately get all the desired results of linking with the Supreme Personality of Godhead.

It may therefore be questioned why there is a necessity for initiation or further spiritual activities in devotional service for one who engages in the chanting of the holy name of the Lord.

The answer is that although it is correct that one who fully engages in chanting the holy name need not depend upon the process of initiation, generally a devotee is addicted to many abominable material habits due to material contamination from his previous life. In order to get quick relief from all these contaminations, it is required that one engage in the worship of the Lord in the temple. The worship of the Deity in the temple is essential to reduce one’s restlessness due to the contaminations of conditioned life.  Narada muni and Rupa Goswami also confirm this.

(CC ADI 7.77)
“Since I received this order from My spiritual master, I always chant the holy name, but I thought that by chanting and chanting the holy name I had been bewildered.

(CC ADI 7.78)
“While chanting the holy name of the Lord in pure ecstasy, I lose Myself, and thus I laugh, cry, dance, and sing just like a madman.

(CC ADI 7.79) ŚRĪ CAITANYA MAHĀPRABHU HINTS IN THIS VERSE THAT TO CHANT THE HOLY NAME OF KṚṢṆA ONE DOES NOT NEED TO SPECULATE ON THE PHILOSOPHICAL ASPECTS OF THE SCIENCE OF GOD,
“Collecting My patience, therefore, I began to consider that chanting the holy name of Kṛṣṇa had covered all My spiritual knowledge.

Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu hints in this verse that to chant the holy name of Kṛṣṇa one does not need to speculate on the philosophical aspects of the science of God, for one automatically becomes ecstatic and without consideration immediately chants, dances, laughs, cries and sings just like a madman.

(CC ADI 7.80) ŚRĪ CAITANYA MAHĀPRABHU, AS AN IDEAL TEACHER, SHOWS US HOW A DISCIPLE SHOULD DEAL WITH HIS SPIRITUAL MASTER.
“I saw that I had become mad by chanting the holy name, and I immediately submitted this at the lotus feet of my spiritual master.

Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu, as an ideal teacher, shows us how a disciple should deal with his spiritual master. Whenever there is doubt regarding any point, he should refer the matter to his spiritual master for clarification. Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu said that while chanting and dancing He had developed the kind of mad ecstasy that is possible only for a liberated soul. Yet even in His liberated position, He referred everything to His spiritual master whenever there were doubts. Thus in any condition, even when liberated, we should never think ourselves independent of the spiritual master, but must refer to him as soon as there is some doubt regarding our progressive spiritual life.

(CC ADI 7.81)
“ ‘My dear lord, what kind of mantra have you given Me? I have become mad simply by chanting this mahā-mantra!

Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu prays in His Śikṣāṣṭaka:

yugāyitaṁ nimeṣeṇa cakṣuṣā prāvṛṣāyitam
śūnyāyitaṁ jagat sarvaṁ govinda-viraheṇa me
“O Govinda! Feeling Your separation, I am considering a moment to be like twelve years or more. Tears are flowing from my eyes like torrents of rain, and I am feeling all vacant in the world in Your absence.” It is the aspiration of a devotee that while he chants the Hare Kṛṣṇa mahā-mantra his eyes will fill with tears, his voice falter and his heart throb. These are good signs in chanting the holy name of the Lord. In ecstasy, one should feel the entire world to be vacant without the presence of Govinda. This is a sign of separation from Govinda. In material life we are all separated from Govinda and are absorbed in material sense gratification. Therefore, when one comes to his senses on the spiritual platform he becomes so eager to meet Govinda that without Govinda the entire world becomes a vacant place.

(CC ADI 7.82) WHEN A DISCIPLE VERY PERFECTLY MAKES PROGRESS IN SPIRITUAL LIFE, THIS GLADDENS THE SPIRITUAL MASTER,
“ ‘Chanting the holy name in ecstasy causes Me to dance, laugh and cry.’ When My spiritual master heard all this, he smiled and then began to speak.

When a disciple very perfectly makes progress in spiritual life, this gladdens the spiritual master, who then also smiles in ecstasy, thinking, “How successful my disciple has become!” He feels so glad that he smiles as he enjoys the progress of the disciple, just as a smiling parent enjoys the activities of a child who is trying to stand up or crawl perfectly.

(CC ADI 7.83) ONE WHO CHANTS THE HARE KṚṢṆA MANTRA DEVELOPS BHĀVA
“ ‘It is the nature of the Hare Kṛṣṇa mahā-mantra that anyone who chants it immediately develops his loving ecstasy for Kṛṣṇa.

In this verse it is explained that one who chants the Hare Kṛṣṇa mantra develops bhāva, ecstasy, which is the point at which revelation begins. It is the preliminary stage in developing one’s original love for God. Lord Kṛṣṇa mentions this bhāva stage in the Bhagavad-gītā (10.8):

ahaṁ sarvasya prabhavo mattaḥ sarvaṁ pravartate
iti matvā bhajante māṁ budhā bhāva-samanvitāḥ

“I am the source of all spiritual and material worlds. Everything emanates from Me. The wise who know this perfectly engage in My devotional service and worship Me with all their hearts.” A neophyte disciple begins by hearing and chanting, associating with devotees and practicing the regulative principles, and thus he vanquishes all of his unwanted bad habits. In this way he develops attachment for Kṛṣṇa and cannot forget Kṛṣṇa even for a moment. Bhāva is the almost successful stage of spiritual life.

When one is completely fit to chant the holy name in this way, he is eligible to make disciples all over the world, and he actually becomes jagad-guru. Then the entire world, under his influence, begins to chant the holy names of the Hare Kṛṣṇa mahā-mantra. Thus all the disciples of such a spiritual master increase in attachment for Kṛṣṇa, and therefore he sometimes cries, sometimes laughs, sometimes dances and sometimes chants. These symptoms are very prominently manifest in the body of a pure devotee. Sometimes when our students of the Kṛṣṇa consciousness movement chant and dance, even in India people are astonished to see how these foreigners have learned to chant and dance in this ecstatic fashion. As explained by Caitanya Mahāprabhu, however, actually this is not due to practice, for without extra endeavor these symptoms become manifest in anyone who sincerely chants the Hare Kṛṣṇa mahā-mantra.

(BG 4.10) BHAVA
According to Bhakti-rasāmṛta-sindhu (1.4.15–16), the science of devotional service:

ādau śraddhā tataḥ sādhu-
saṅgo ’tha bhajana-kriyā
tato ’nartha-nivṛttiḥ syāt
tato niṣṭhā rucis tataḥ
athāsaktis tato bhāvas
tataḥ premābhyudañcati
sādhakānām ayaṁ premṇaḥ
prādurbhāve bhavet kramaḥ

“In the beginning one must have a preliminary desire for self-realization. This will bring one to the stage of trying to associate with persons who are spiritually elevated. In the next stage one becomes initiated by an elevated spiritual master, and under his instruction, the neophyte devotee begins the process of devotional service. By execution of devotional service under the guidance of the spiritual master, one becomes free from all material attachment, attains steadiness in self-realization, and acquires a taste for hearing about the Absolute Personality of Godhead, Śrī Kṛṣṇa. This taste leads one further forward to attachment for Kṛṣṇa consciousness, which is matured in bhāva, or the preliminary stage of transcendental love of God. Real love for God is called prema, the highest perfectional stage of life.” In the prema stage there is constant engagement in the transcendental loving service of the Lord.

UNDER THE GUIDANCE OF THE BONA FIDE SPIRITUAL MASTER, ONE CAN ATTAIN THE HIGHEST STAGE

So, by the slow process of devotional service, under the guidance of the bona fide spiritual master, one can attain the highest stage, being freed from all material attachment, from the fearfulness of one’s individual spiritual personality, and from the frustrations that result in void philosophy. Then one can ultimately attain to the abode of the Supreme Lord.

SB 2.1.20 Notes – 03/14/2021

KEY TAKEAWAYS from HH Harivilas Maharaj’s Morning Bhagavatam class on SB 2.1.20:

  1. Only persons conducted by the mode of goodness can have the knowledge of the Supreme Truth.
  2. One can rectify agitated mind conceptions (caused by the passionate mode of material nature) by the relation of Viṣṇu and thus become pacified by cleansing the dirty things created by them.
  3. And those who are too much after wealth and women can rectify their leanings only by constant remembrance of Viṣṇu in His feature composed of impersonal potencies.
  4. Nowadays women are not to be submissive, they are taught to be protagonists. There is a whole movement of Feminization of men. It is all based on a sense of gratification. Neither side is correct.
  5. Māyāvādīs, because they are seeing the Absolute Truth from a distant place, far away, they think that in the Absolute Truth there is no variety. However. The Absolute Truth is described in the Brahma-saṁhitā – There are, in the spiritual world, there are Vaikuṇṭhalokas. There are inhabitants, the devotees. They’re all liberated persons…
  6. If we simply stick to the indefinite, impersonal feature of the Absolute Truth, then there is the chance of falling down. And most fall down.
  7. To acquire such a qualification of God-realization in the personal feature, the neophyte impersonalist is given a chance to realize the relation of the Lord in everything by the philosophy of pantheism.
  8. Pantheism in its higher status does not permit the student to form an impersonal conception of the Absolute Truth, but it extends the conception of the Absolute Truth into the field of the so-called material energy.
  9. Everything created by the material energy can be dovetailed with the Absolute by an attitude of service, which is the essential part of living energy.
  10. The pure devotee of the Lord knows the art of converting everything into its spiritual existence by this service attitude, and only in that devotional way can the theory of pantheism be perfected.

SB 2.1.20 Translation:

One’s mind is always agitated by the passionate mode of material nature and bewildered by the ignorant mode of nature. But one can rectify such conceptions by the relation of Viṣṇu and thus become pacified by cleansing the dirty things created by them.

CLASS NOTES: one can rectify such conceptions by the relation of Viṣṇu and thus become pacified by cleansing the dirty things created by them.

Persons generally conducted by the modes of passion and ignorance cannot be bona fide candidates for being situated in the transcendental stage of God-realization. Only persons conducted by the mode of goodness can have the knowledge of the Supreme Truth.

And those who are too much after wealth and women can rectify their leanings only by constant remembrance of Viṣṇu in His feature composed of impersonal potencies.

After many hundreds of births, the impersonal philosopher surrenders unto the Personality of Godhead.

Everything created by the material energy can be dovetailed with the Absolute by an attitude of service, which is the essential part of living energy. The pure devotee of the Lord knows the art of converting everything into its spiritual existence by this service attitude, and only in that devotional way can the theory of pantheism be perfected.

“One can rectify such conceptions by the relation of Viṣṇu and thus become pacified by cleansing the dirty things created by them.” – This is through personalism. Purify the mistakes and false ideas accumulated due to the mode of passion and ignorance. You can rectify that by the relation with Vishnu. One can become pacified. Bewilderment, hankering, lamentation, lust, greed will overcome otherwise due to mode ignorance and passion. Nowadays women are not to be submissive, they are taught to be protagonists. There is a whole movement of Feminization of men. It is all based on a sense of gratification. SP says – women want to become Purusha… everything has become mixed up and confused. The effect of passion and ignorance is hankering after wealth and women.

Maharaj asked a boy – you want to go to a good college to get an education and earn more money. Would you do something illegal to get more money if you can get away? The boy said yes. Every month, a stockbroker is caught because of cheating and they are prosecuted.

Most of the people are impersonalists. How many Vaishnavas are there in India?
What is Pantheism – Doctrine which identifies God with the whole universe. Conversely, the worship which admits all kinds of Gods. All the forces in the world are God. Example – They reject God as a person, all the forces in the world are God. Pantheism has some indirect concept of God.
Srila Prabhupada is showing in this verse how to preach to Pantheists.

(BG 4.24)

A person who is fully absorbed in Kṛṣṇa consciousness is sure to attain the spiritual kingdom because of his full contribution to spiritual activities, in which the consummation is absolute and that which is offered is of the same spiritual nature.

This material veil can be removed at once by Kṛṣṇa consciousness; thus the offering for the sake of Kṛṣṇa consciousness, the consuming agent of such an offering or contribution, the process of consumption, the contributor and the result are – all combined together – Brahman, or the Absolute Truth. The Absolute Truth covered by māyā is called matter. Matter dovetailed for the cause of the Absolute Truth regains its spiritual quality. Kṛṣṇa consciousness is the process of converting the illusory consciousness into Brahman, or the Supreme. When the mind is fully absorbed in Kṛṣṇa consciousness, it is said to be in samādhi or trance. Anything done in such transcendental consciousness is called yajña, or sacrifice for the Absolute. In that condition of spiritual consciousness, the contributor, the contribution, the consumption, the performer or leader of the performance and the result or ultimate gain – everything – becomes one in the Absolute, the Supreme Brahman. That is the method of Kṛṣṇa consciousness.

SP is the greatest preacher, he can take anything and bring it to KC. Impersonalism, pantheism…

SB 3.25.6 Lecture (https://vedabase.io/en/library/transcripts/741105sbbom/)

When Kapila, who could show her the ultimate goal of the Absolute Truth, was sitting leisurely before her, Devahūti remembered the words Brahmā had spoken to her, and she, therefore, began to question Kapila as follows.

Kapila Muni is teaching his mother Devahuti Tattva Jnana.

Just like these Māyāvādīs, they cannot understand that this chanting of Hare Kṛṣṇa name is actually getting direct association with Kṛṣṇa. Therefore Prakāśānanda Sarasvatī, in Benares, considered Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu as a crazy fellow. Crazy fellow. Why? Now, because He was sannyāsī, and He was not reading Vedānta-sūtra. He was simply chanting and dancing. So some devotee of Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu very much praised Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu at the…, in the presence of Prakāśānanda Sarasvatī, and Prakāśānanda Sarasvatī became very angry, “Ah, don’t talk of this rascal sannyāsī. He is a sannyāsī, He does not read Vedānta-sūtra, and in sentimental moods He chants and dances. Don’t talk about Him. Better don’t go there.” So that devotee became very sorry, and he arranged a meeting between this Māyāvādī sannyāsī and Caitanya Mahāprabhu.

KEY TAKEAWAYS FROM HH HARIVILAS MAHARAJ’S MORNING BHAGAVATAM CLASS ON SB 2.1.19

• Viṣṇu form is the ultimate goal of meditation, and as such it is better to concentrate upon the forms of Viṣṇu than on impersonal oṁkāra.
• The Viṣṇu forms of worship in great temples of India are not arrangements of idol worship, as they are wrongly interpreted to be by a class of men with a poor fund of knowledge; rather, they are different spiritual centers of meditation on the transcendental limbs of the body of Viṣṇu.
• The worshipable Deity in the temple of Viṣṇu is identical with Lord Viṣṇu by the inconceivable potency of the Lord.
• The common man can benefit more by meditating on the form of Viṣṇu in the temple than on the oṁkāra, the spiritual combination of a-u-m as explained before. Also, for the common man, the method of impersonal realization ( is very difficult.
• Without developing the spiritual body and without being situated on one of the spiritual planets, the so-called liberation is also an illusion, or it is not complete.
• From the Brahmajyoti there is no direct promotion to the spiritual planets, and it is clearly stated in the Bhagavatam that such souls fall down – patanty adha
• In Bhagavadgita Chapter 6 the peak of the yoga ladder is described. Yoginaam api sarvesaam
• Ashtanga yoga when practiced as prescribed will lead to liberation. But how many can perform? It is extremely difficult in this age of Kali.
• A Kṛṣṇa conscious person, however, being always engaged in devotional service, does not risk losing his senses to some other engagement. This is a better way of controlling the senses than by aṣṭāṅga-yoga.
• To attain peace, we need to know three things –
Krsna is Bhoktaram (Supreme Enjoyer)
Krsna is Mahesvaram (Supreme Controller)
Krsna is Suhrdam (Well Wisher of all living entities)
• No possibility of peace when not connected with krsna – One who is not connected with the Supreme [in Kṛṣṇa consciousness] can have neither transcendental intelligence nor a steady mind, without which there is no possibility of peace. And how can there be any happiness without peace?

SB 2.1.19 TRANSLATION:
Thereafter, you should meditate upon the limbs of Viṣṇu, one after another, without being deviated from the conception of the complete body. Thus the mind becomes free from all sense objects. There should be no other thing to be thought upon. Because the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Viṣṇu, is the Ultimate Truth, the mind becomes completely reconciled in Him only.

CLASS NOTES:

VIṢṆU FORM IS THE ULTIMATE GOAL OF MEDITATION, AND AS SUCH IT IS BETTER TO CONCENTRATE UPON THE FORMS OF VIṢṆU THAN ON IMPERSONAL OṀKĀRA.

Viṣṇu-tattva is an unlimited expansion of different transcendental forms of the Personality of Godhead, and the supreme or original form of viṣṇu-tattva is Govinda, or Lord Kṛṣṇa, the supreme cause of all causes. Therefore, thinking of Viṣṇu or meditating upon the transcendental form of Viṣṇu, specifically upon Lord Kṛṣṇa, is the last word on the subject of meditation. This meditation may be begun from the lotus feet of the Lord. One should not, however, forget or be misled from the complete form of the Lord; thus one should practice thinking of the different parts of His transcendental body, one after another
The Viṣṇu forms of worship in great temples of India are not, therefore, arrangements of idol worship, as they are wrongly interpreted to be by a class of men with a poor fund of knowledge; rather, they are different spiritual centers of meditation on the transcendental limbs of the body of Viṣṇu. The worshipable Deity in the temple of Viṣṇu is identical with Lord Viṣṇu by the inconceivable potency of the Lord.
The common man can benefit more by meditating on the form of Viṣṇu in the temple than on the oṁkāra, the spiritual combination of a-u-m as explained before.

How far away from the truth Mayavadis are. They reject everything as material. There is no such thing as Krsna in the absolute realization. They reject all of that. Their whole spiritual quest is a failure from beginning to end and they end up in person less Brahma Jyothi, eventually, they fall down as they did not take refuge in Vishnu. They reject Krsna in order to merge into impersonal Brahman. It is like one who climbs the ladder to the top of a building and then throws the ladder away. They get stranded. They use the deity of the lord to attain Brahman effulgence and abandon it later.
Why does he say VISHNU in this verse? Those who are engaged in the ritualized worship of the Lord. Chanting Pranava and meditating on the body of the Vishnu. They are Sri Vaishnavas worshipping Narayana. It is a bonafide process. It is difficult but not recommended. This verse explains that. SP says – “The common man can benefit more by meditating on the form of Viṣṇu in the temple than on the oṁkāra, the spiritual combination of a-u-m as explained before. There is no difference between oṁkāra and the forms of Viṣṇu, but persons unacquainted with the science of Absolute Truth try to create dissension by differentiating between the forms of Viṣṇu and that of oṁkāra…..” Chanting Om kara is difficult than Vishnu
The name mayavad means they are worshipping something which is false.

LETTER TO RUPANUGA JULY 24TH, 1969
https://vedabase.io/en/library/letters/letter-to-rupanuga-14
IMPERSONALISTS HAVE NO CHANCE OF GOING TO SPIRITUAL PLANETS FROM BRAHMA JYOTHI, UNLESS THEY FALL DOWN AND MEET A DEVOTEE.

In the Bhagavad-gita, it is clearly said by the Lord that the only way of not coming back to the material world is to be promoted to the spiritual planets. For the impersonalists there is no such assurance of not falling down in the whole Vedic literature. The conclusion is that without developing the spiritual body and without being situated on one of the spiritual planets, the so-called liberation is also an illusion, or it is not complete. A spirit soul who falls down from the Brahmajyoti to the Kingdom of Maya may have a chance of associating with a pure devotee, and then he may be elevated to the spiritual planets of Vaikuntha or to Goloka Vrindaban. From the Brahmajyoti there is no direct promotion to the spiritual planets, and it is clearly stated in the Bhagavatam that such souls fall down – patanty adha

BrahmaJyothi is made up of infinite spirit souls. Pencils of light. They do not have a physical body. In the material world, there are Ghosts. Even SB confirms that. Who is a ghost, who becomes a ghost? Who is taking drugs, who commit suicide, who have a weak will to live. Millions and millions of ghosts are produced every year. They are an unbelievable amount of desires. They cannot satisfy any of it. There are infinite souls in the Brahma Jyothi. They don’t have material desires. But, they get bored and they eventually fall down to get a material body.

(BG 12. 3-4) BONAFIDE IMPERSONALIST REALIZATION IS VERY DIFFICULT
But those who fully worship the unmanifested, that which lies beyond the perception of the senses, the all-pervading, inconceivable, unchanging, fixed and immovable – the impersonal conception of the Absolute Truth – by controlling the various senses and being equally disposed to everyone, such persons, engaged in the welfare of all, at last achieve Me.

In order to perceive the Supersoul within the individual soul, one has to cease the sensual activities of seeing, hearing, tasting, working, etc. Then one comes to understand that the Supreme Soul is present everywhere. Realizing this, one envies no living entity – he sees no difference between man and animal because he sees soul only, not the outer covering. But for the common man, this method of impersonal realization is very difficult.

For bonafide impersonalists itself, it is extremely difficult. There is no question of Mayavadis as they are blaspheming the Lord.

(BG 12.5)
For those whose minds are attached to the unmanifested, impersonal feature of the Supreme, advancement is very troublesome. To make progress in that discipline is always difficult for those who are embodied.

Yoga Ladder – The top of the ladder is explained in the end of the 6th chapter Yoginam api sarvesam…

(BG 5.26)
Those who are free from anger and all material desires, who are self-realized, self-disciplined, and constantly endeavoring for perfection, are assured of liberation in the Supreme in the very near future.

(BG 5.27-28) ASTANGA YOGA LEADS TO LIBERATION, BUT VERY DIFFICULT
Shutting out all external sense objects, keeping the eyes and vision concentrated between the two eyebrows, suspending the inward and outward breaths within the nostrils, and thus controlling the mind, senses and intelligence, the transcendentalist aiming at liberation becomes free from desire, fear and anger. One who is always in this state is certainly liberated.

There is no benefit in closing the eyes altogether, because then there is every chance of falling asleep. Nor is there benefit in opening the eyes completely, because then there is the hazard of being attracted by sense objects.

This yoga process helps one become free from all kinds of fear and anger and thus feel the presence of the Supersoul in the transcendental situation.
This will be thoroughly explained in the next chapter. A Kṛṣṇa conscious person, however, being always engaged in devotional service, does not risk losing his senses to some other engagement. This is a better way of controlling the senses than by aṣṭāṅga-yoga.

(BG 5.29) PEACE FORMULA
A person in full consciousness of Me, knowing Me to be the ultimate beneficiary of all sacrifices and austerities, the Supreme Lord of all planets and demigods, and the benefactor and well-wisher of all living entities, attains peace from the pangs of material miseries.

WE NEED TO KNOW THREE THINGS FOR PEACE –
Krsna is Bhoktaram
Krsna is Mahesvaram
Krsna is Suhrdam

(Śvetāśvatara Upaniṣad 6.7)
tam īśvarāṇāṃ paramaṃ maheśvaraṃ taṃ devatānāṃ paramaṃ ca daivataṃ /
patiṃ patīnāṃ paramaṃ parastād vidāma devaṃ bhuvaneśam īḍyam // 6.7 //
O Supreme Lord, You are the Supreme Maheśvara, the worshipable Deity of all the demigods and the Supreme Lord of all lords. You are the controller of all controllers, the Personality of Godhead, the Lord of everything worshipable.

The Supreme Lord is described as tam īśvarāṇāṁ paramaṁ maheśvaraṁ. Under the spell of illusion, living entities are trying to be lords of all they survey, but actually they are dominated by the material energy of the Lord.

(Śvetāśvatara Upaniṣad 6.8)
na tasya kāryaṃ karaṇaṃ ca vidyate na tatsamaś cābhyadhikaś ca dṛśyate /
parāsya śaktir vividhaiva śrūyate svābhāvikī jñānabalakriyā ca // 6.8 //

The Supreme Lord has nothing to do. Nothing is equal to Him or greater than Him. He acts in different phases by manifesting His parts and parcels, which are all simultaneously differently situated by His unlimited, variegated potencies. Each potency acts quite naturally in sequences, providing Him full knowledge, power and pastimes.

(BG 2.66) NO POSSIBILITY OF PEACE WHEN NOT CONNECTED WITH KRSNA
One who is not connected with the Supreme [in Kṛṣṇa consciousness] can have neither transcendental intelligence nor a steady mind, without which there is no possibility of peace. And how can there be any happiness without peace?

You have to have peace to have happiness. You cannot be peaceful without Krsnaa.

SB 2.1.18 Notes – 03/12/21

KEY TAKEAWAYS FROM HH HARIVILAS MAHARAJ’S MORNING BHAGAVATAM CLASS ON SB 2.1.18

  1. The ultimate state of prāṇāyāma system is to be fixed in trance, called, samādhi.Even the samādhi stage also fails to control the materially absorbed mind. Ex: Viswamitra.
  2. The mind, although ceasing to think of sensual activities at present, remembers past sensual activities from the subconscious status and thus disturbs one from cent-percent engagement in self-realization
  3. Sukhdev Goswami is recommending the surest path of progress, even for the disturbed mind –  to fix one’s mind in the service of the Personality of Godhead. To engage oneself in the transcendental loving service of the Lord by different devotional activities of hearing, chanting, etc. under proper guidance.
  4. A person who neither rejoices upon achieving something pleasant nor laments upon obtaining something unpleasant, who is self-intelligent, who is unbewildered, and who knows the science of God is already situated in transcendence.
  5. Such a liberated person is not attracted to material sense pleasure but is always in trance, enjoying the pleasure within. In this way, the self-realized person enjoys unlimited happiness.
  6. Yamunacharya says – “Since I have been engaged in the transcendental loving service of Kṛṣṇa, realizing ever-new pleasure in Him, whenever I think of sex pleasure I spit at the thought, and my lips curl with distaste.”
  7. SB (5.5.1) “My dear sons, there is no reason to labor very hard for sense pleasure while in this human form of life; such pleasures are available to the stool-eaters [hogs]. Rather, you should undergo penances in this life by which your existence will be purified, and as a result you will be able to enjoy unlimited transcendental bliss.”
  8. A person in Kṛṣṇa consciousness is so absorbed in the loving service of the Lord that he loses his taste for material sense pleasure altogether. He is a liberated soul.
  9. By experiencing the higher taste the liberated souls restrict from false pleasures
  10. Material desires, when unsatiated, generate anger, and thus the mind, eyes and chest become agitated.
  11. If one is able to tolerate the urges of the material senses and check the force of desire and anger, he is well situated and is happy in this world.
  12. The real cause of one’s difficulties in the hard struggle for life may be found in one’s forgetfulness of his relationship with the Supreme Lord.
  13. Only a person who is fully in Kṛṣṇa consciousness can be said to be engaged in welfare work for all living entities. When a person is actually in the knowledge that Kṛṣṇa is the fountainhead of everything, then when he acts in that spirit he acts for everyone.
  14. The act to revive Krsna consciousness within the entire human society is the highest welfare work. One cannot be engaged in such first-class welfare work without being liberated in the Supreme.
  15. A Kṛṣṇa conscious person has no doubt about the supremacy of Kṛṣṇa. He has no doubt because he is completely freed from all sins. This is the state of divine love.

SB 2.1.18 TRANSLATION:

Gradually, as the mind becomes progressively spiritualized, withdraw it from sense activities, and by intelligence the senses will be controlled. The mind too absorbed in material activities can be engaged in the service of the Personality of Godhead and become fixed in full transcendental consciousness.

CLASS NOTES:

THE ULTIMATE STATE OF THIS PRĀṆĀYĀMA SYSTEM IS TO BE FIXED IN TRANCE, CALLED, SAMĀDHI.EVEN THE SAMĀDHI STAGE ALSO FAILS TO CONTROL THE MATERIALLY ABSORBED MIND.

The first process of spiritualizing the mind by mechanical chanting of the praṇava (oṁkāra) and by control of the breathing system is technically called the mystic or yogic process of prāṇāyāma, or fully controlling the breathing air. The ultimate state of this prāṇāyāma system is to be fixed in trance, technically called samādhi. But experience has proven that even the samādhi stage also fails to control the materially absorbed mind. For example, the great mystic Viśvāmitra Muni, even in the stage of samādhi, became a victim of the senses and cohabited with Menakā. History has already recorded this. The mind, although ceasing to think of sensual activities at present, remembers past sensual activities from the subconscious status and thus disturbs one from cent-percent engagement in self-realization

THE NEXT STEP OF ASSURED POLICY IS TO FIX ONE’S MIND IN THE SERVICE OF THE PERSONALITY OF GODHEAD

Śukadeva Gosvāmī recommends the next step of assured policy, namely to fix one’s mind in the service of the Personality of Godhead. Lord Śrī Kṛṣṇa, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, also recommends this direct process in the Bhagavad-gītā (6.47). Thus, the mind being spiritually cleansed, one should at once engage himself in the transcendental loving service of the Lord by the different devotional activities of hearing, chanting, etc. If performed under proper guidance, that is the surest path of progress, even for the disturbed mind.

This is really very precious information. If we think that we are hearing the same thing over and over.  Chant, hear, come to Mangal Arti, do Tulsi puja, eat prasadam. Actually one may say this is repetitive and boring. That is not the case.

It is very difficult to attain perfection through the process of meditation in this age of Kali. Even if you attain perfection you will fall down. Even if you attain perfection in the relative sense. Even if you go to the level of Bhava in devotional service you will still fall down. Example – Bharat maharaj.

Superiority of devotional service over the yogic process is described in the following verses –

(BG 5.20) SYMPTOMS OF A SELF REALIZED PERSON
A person who neither rejoices upon achieving something pleasant nor laments upon obtaining something unpleasant, who is self-intelligent, who is unbewildered, and who knows the science of God is already situated in transcendence.

The symptoms of the self-realized person are given herein.

  1. The first symptom is that he is not illusioned by the false identification of the body with his true self. He knows perfectly well that he is not this body but is the fragmental portion of the Supreme Personality of Godhead. He is therefore not joyful in achieving something, nor does he lament in losing anything which is related to his body. This steadiness of mind is called sthira-buddhi, or self-intelligence.
  2. He is therefore never bewildered by mistaking the gross body for the soul, nor does he accept the body as permanent and disregard the existence of the soul.
  3. This knowledge elevates him to the station of knowing the complete science of the Absolute Truth, namely Brahman, Paramātmā and Bhagavān.
  4. He thus knows his constitutional position perfectly well, without falsely trying to become one with the Supreme in all respects.
  5. This is called Brahman realization, or self-realization. Such steady consciousness is called Kṛṣṇa consciousness.

Majority of the people – 99 percent cannot get to that first step. That’s how strong family attachment is, ethnicity is, …. Also they do not teach this in the schools. Kids are denied that knowledge. That is why you have so much varna sankara. Kids are fed ignorance and it is called knowledge.
We have 5 symptoms of self realized persons. When you get to 2,3,4,5, 100 percent of them are being eliminated.

(BG 5.21) A SELF REALIZED PERSON IS ENOYING THE PLEASURE WITHIN
Such a liberated person is not attracted to material sense pleasure but is always in trance, enjoying the pleasure within. In this way the self-realized person enjoys unlimited happiness, for he concentrates on the Supreme.

Śrī Yāmunācārya (guru of Ramanujacharya), a great devotee in Kṛṣṇa consciousness, said:

yad-avadhi mama cetaḥ kṛṣṇa-pādāravinde
nava-nava-rasa-dhāmany udyataṁ rantum āsīt
tad-avadhi bata nārī-saṅgame smaryamāne
bhavati mukha-vikāraḥ suṣṭhu niṣṭhīvanaṁ ca

“Since I have been engaged in the transcendental loving service of Kṛṣṇa, realizing ever-new pleasure in Him, whenever I think of sex pleasure I spit at the thought, and my lips curl with distaste.” (This is internal pleasure)

A person in brahma-yoga, or Kṛṣṇa consciousness, is so absorbed in the loving service of the Lord that he loses his taste for material sense pleasure altogether. The highest pleasure in terms of matter is sex pleasure. The whole world is moving under its spell, and a materialist cannot work at all without this motivation. But a person engaged in Kṛṣṇa consciousness can work with greater vigor without sex pleasure, which he avoids. That is the test in spiritual realization.  A Kṛṣṇa conscious person is not attracted to any kind of sense pleasure, due to his being a liberated soul.

There are very few people who are fully satisfied by doing 24 hrs service. Does that mean you cannot? No, You can. Unless you know what perfection is, you will not try for it. That is why we are hearing. You have gymnastics, ice skaters, musicians, artists, they all require intense training to attain perfection. Yamucharya – all the Alwars, Sri Vaishnavas are all devotees of Krsna.

The highest pleasure in terms of matter is sex pleasure. The whole world is moving under its spell, and a materialist cannot work at all without this motivation – ME TOO movement is the proof.

(BG 5.22) AN INTELLIGENT PERSON DOES NOT TAKE PART IN THE SOURCES OF MISERY, WHICH ARE DUE TO CONTACT WITH THE MATERIAL SENSES.
An intelligent person does not take part in the sources of misery, which are due to contact with the material senses. O son of Kuntī, such pleasures have a beginning and an end, and so the wise man does not delight in them.

Material sense pleasures are due to the contact of the material senses, which are all temporary because the body itself is temporary. A liberated soul is not interested in anything which is temporary. Knowing well the joys of transcendental pleasures, how can a liberated soul agree to enjoy false pleasure?

(BG 2.59) BY EXPERIENCING THE HIGHER TASTE THE LIBERATED SOUL RESTRICTS FROM FALSE PLEASURES

viṣayā vinivartante
nirāhārasya dehinaḥ
rasa-varjaṁ raso ’py asya
paraṁ dṛṣṭvā nivartate
Though the embodied soul may be restricted from sense enjoyment, the taste for sense objects remains. But, ceasing such engagements by experiencing a higher taste, he is fixed in consciousness.

Padma Purāṇa says:
“The mystics derive unlimited transcendental pleasures from the Absolute Truth, and therefore the Supreme Absolute Truth, the Personality of Godhead, is also known as Rāma.”

SB (5.5.1) HOW TO ATTAIN  UNLIMITED TRANSCENDENTAL BLISS
“My dear sons, there is no reason to labor very hard for sense pleasure while in this human form of life; such pleasures are available to the stool-eaters [hogs]. Rather, you should undergo penances in this life by which your existence will be purified, and as a result you will be able to enjoy unlimited transcendental bliss.”

Therefore, those who are true yogīs or learned transcendentalists are not attracted by sense pleasures, which are the causes of continuous material existence. The more one is addicted to material pleasures, the more he is entrapped by material miseries.

Your sense gratification and suffering is already predetermined. Rather you must undergo penances..
Law of nature –

  1. The more one is addicted to material pleasures, the more he is entrapped by material miseries.
  2. Survival of the fittest and the struggle for existence. No one can avoid this.
  3. Law of subsistence. Big fish is going eat the small fish
  4. Law of goodsense (I am not going to be in the rat race) – Mentality of lording over material nature, is the root cause of conditioned life.

(BG 5.23) IF ONE IS ABLE TO TOLERATE THE URGES OF THE MATERIAL SENSES AND CHECK THE FORCE OF DESIRE AND ANGER, HE IS WELL SITUATED AND IS HAPPY IN THIS WORLD.

If one wants to make steady progress on the path of self-realization, he must try to control the forces of the material senses. There are the forces of talk, forces of anger, forces of mind, forces of the stomach, forces of the genitals, and forces of the tongue. . Material desires, when unsatiated, generate anger, and thus the mind, eyes and chest become agitated.

Material desires, when unsatiated, generate anger, and thus the mind, eyes and chest become agitated.  Material desires, when unsatiated, generate anger, and thus the mind, eyes and chest become agitated.

People get angry because they are frustrated in not getting sense gratification through the deep seated material desires. They are become like a time bomb, waiting to explode. It is the straw that broke the back of the camel. If the person is frustrated with sense gratification day after day… Avalanche of Vitriol
A devotee is pleased with knowledge and self realization. Karmi wants money and sense gratification.  To control desire and anger  becomes easy if you have the higher taste.

(BG 5.24)ONE WHOSE HAPPINESS IS WITHIN, WHO IS ACTIVE AND REJOICES WITHIN, AND WHOSE AIM IS INWARD IS ACTUALLY THE PERFECT MYSTIC

One whose happiness is within, who is active and rejoices within, and whose aim is inward is actually the perfect mystic. He is liberated in the Supreme, and ultimately he attains the Supreme.

Unless one is able to relish happiness from within, how can one retire from the external engagements meant for deriving superficial happiness? A liberated person enjoys happiness by factual experience. He can, therefore, sit silently at any place and enjoy the activities of life from within. Such a liberated person no longer desires external material happiness. This state is called brahma-bhūta, attaining which one is assured of going back to Godhead, back to home.

We are aiming for this.
Savai pumso…
24 hours a day relishing Krsna. It is more than artificial stuff like disney land… it is all superficial and it is not real. It is all feign. Real thing is SAT. It is not going to disappear and everything is going to get better and better.

(BG 5.25) STATE OF DIVINE LOVE
Those who are beyond the dualities that arise from doubts, whose minds are engaged within, who are always busy working for the welfare of all living beings and who are free from all sins achieve liberation in the Supreme.

Only a person who is fully in Kṛṣṇa consciousness can be said to be engaged in welfare work for all living entities. When a person is actually in the knowledge that Kṛṣṇa is the fountainhead of everything, then when he acts in that spirit he acts for everyone. The sufferings of humanity are due to forgetfulness of Kṛṣṇa as the supreme enjoyer, the supreme proprietor and the supreme friend. Therefore, to act to revive this consciousness within the entire human society is the highest welfare work. One cannot be engaged in such first-class welfare work without being liberated in the Supreme. A Kṛṣṇa conscious person has no doubt about the supremacy of Kṛṣṇa. He has no doubt because he is completely freed from all sins. This is the state of divine love.

A person engaged only in ministering to the physical welfare of human society cannot factually help anyone. Temporary relief of the external body and the mind is not satisfactory. The real cause of one’s difficulties in the hard struggle for life may be found in one’s forgetfulness of his relationship with the Supreme Lord. When a man is fully conscious of his relationship with Kṛṣṇa, he is actually a liberated soul, although he may be in the material tabernacle.

What is the highest welfare – giving Krsna Consciousness, in the form of prasadam, spending time, books.. We might have good intentions, unless we set aside the time to spread the message of Krsna.
Tabernacle – Where you spend lot of time – Body…
We are not aiming to go to heavenly planets, we are going way way above that, that is where Srila Prabhupada is taking us… Caitanya mahaprabhu is taking us…
Difference between the yoga system, meditation system and KC. There is no comparison. KC everyone can apply themselves by staying in good association.
