SB 2.8.19-20 Notes – 11/23/21

KEY TAKEAWAYS FROM HH HARIVILAS MAHARAJ’S MORNING BHAGAVATAM CLASS ON SB 2.8.19-20:

  • Lord Śiva is the greatest yogī, and he can perform wonderful mystic things, far beyond the ordinary living beings.
  • The devotees of the Lord, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, do not directly practice the process of mystic powers, but, by the grace of the Lord, His devotee can defeat even a great yogeśvara like Durvāsā Muni, who picked a quarrel with Mahārāja Ambarīṣa and wanted to show the wonderful achievements of his mystic powers.
  • Similarly, at the time of Draupadī’s precarious position, when she was attacked by the Kurus who wanted to see her naked in the open assembly of the royal order, the Lord saved her from being stripped by supplying an unlimited length of sari to cover her. And Draupadī knew nothing of mystic powers.
  • Therefore the devotees are also yogeśvaras by the unlimited power of the Lord, just as a child is powerful by the strength of the parents. They do not try to protect themselves by any artificial means, but are saved by the mercy of the parents.
  • Mahārāja Parīkṣit inquired from the learned brāhmaṇa Śukadeva Gosvāmī about the ultimate destination of such great mystics or how they attain such extraordinary powers by their own efforts or by the grace of the Lord.
  • The  whole spiritual culture or the culture of Krsna consciousness is asking questions and receiving answers through the sastric evidence from bonafide representatives.
  • SB 3.25.25 – In the association of pure devotees, discussion of the pastimes and activities of the Supreme Personality of Godhead is very pleasing and satisfying to the ear and the heart. By cultivating such knowledge one gradually becomes advanced on the path of liberation, and thereafter he is freed, and his attraction becomes fixed. Then real devotion and devotional service begin.
  • SB 2.3.17 – “Both by rising and setting, the sun decreases the duration of life of everyone, except one who utilizes the time by discussing topics of the all-good Personality of Godhead.”
  • Time and tide wait for no man. So the time indicated by the sunrise and the sunset will be uselessly wasted if such time is not properly utilized for realizing identification of spiritual values. Even a fraction of the duration of life wasted cannot be compensated by any amount of gold.
  • A living being is constitutionally a spiritual spark of the complete whole, and his happiness can be perfectly perceived in spiritual activities.
  • “Once a person comes into contact with any one of the energies of the Lord through the proper channel of devotional service, the door of perfection is immediately opened.
  • A moment passed in the association of a pure devotee by hearing and chanting the transcendental messages of the Lord is a perfect guarantee for eternal life for returning home, back to Godhead.
  • A devotee of the Lord is guaranteed eternal life. A devotee’s old age or disease in the present life is but an impetus to such guaranteed eternal life.”
  • The sun’s business is to take away a portion of your span of life. But he cannot take away the portion of the life of a devotee. Because a devotee is going to live.
  • If we pass our time simply by hearing, reading and talking about Kṛṣṇa, then the sun will not be able to take away our life. This is the secret. If you want to become immortal, then you always be engaged in kṛṣṇa-kathā. Always, twenty-four hours, always think of Kṛṣṇa. This is Kṛṣṇa consciousness.
  • SB 2.1.5 – This is the process of Kṛṣṇa consciousness. We have to hear about Kṛṣṇa, we have to chant about Kṛṣṇa, we have to memorize about Kṛṣṇa, we have to worship Kṛṣṇa. This is our movement. We are worshiping Kṛṣṇa in the temple, we are thinking of Him, we are talking about Him and we are hearing about Him. So if we live in this way… It does not require any monetary exchange or any high education. Everyone can hear about Kṛṣṇa.
  • This Kṛṣṇa consciousness movement is to give a living entity a permanent span of life.

SB 2.8.19 TRANSLATION:

Kindly explain all about the elementary principles of creation, the number of such elementary principles, their causes, and their development, and also the process of devotional service and the method of mystic powers.

SB 2.8.20 TRANSLATION:

What are the opulences of the great mystics, and what is their ultimate realization? How does the perfect mystic become detached from the subtle astral body? What is the basic knowledge of the Vedic literatures, including the branches of history and the supplementary Purāṇas?

The yogeśvara, or the master of mystic powers, can exhibit eight kinds of wonders of perfection by becoming smaller than the atom or lighter than a feather, getting anything and everything he desires, going anywhere and everywhere he likes, creating even a planet in the sky, etc. There are many yogeśvaras having different proficiencies in these wonderful powers, and the topmost of all of them is Lord Śiva. Lord Śiva is the greatest yogī, and he can perform such wonderful things, far beyond the ordinary living beings. The devotees of the Lord, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, do not directly practice the process of mystic powers, but, by the grace of the Lord, His devotee can defeat even a great yogeśvara like Durvāsā Muni, who picked a quarrel with Mahārāja Ambarīṣa and wanted to show the wonderful achievements of his mystic powers. Mahārāja Ambarīṣa was a pure devotee of the Lord, and thus without any effort on his part the Lord saved him from the wrath of Yogeśvara Durvāsā Muni, and the latter was obliged to beg pardon from the King. Similarly, at the time of Draupadī’s precarious position, when she was attacked by the Kurus who wanted to see her naked in the open assembly of the royal order, the Lord saved her from being stripped by supplying an unlimited length of sari to cover her. And Draupadī knew nothing of mystic powers. Therefore the devotees are also yogeśvaras by the unlimited power of the Lord, just as a child is powerful by the strength of the parents. They do not try to protect themselves by any artificial means, but are saved by the mercy of the parents.

Mahārāja Parīkṣit inquired from the learned brāhmaṇa Śukadeva Gosvāmī about the ultimate destination of such great mystics or how they attain such extraordinary powers by their own efforts or by the grace of the Lord. He inquired also about their detachment from the subtle and gross material bodies. He inquired also about the purports of the Vedic knowledge. As stated in the Bhagavad-gītā (15.15), the whole purport of all the Vedas is to know the Supreme Personality of Godhead and thus become a transcendental loving servant of the Lord.

We would never be able to ask such questions of depth asked by Parikshit maharaj. Padma purana is also questions and answers between Lord Shiva and goddess Parvathi. BG is the Q& A between Krsna and Arjuna.

Q & A is the culture of spiritual life. Asking questions and receiving answers through scriptural evidence.

Srila Prabhupada answered the questions of the devotees and disciples through the 3000 letters he wrote to them…

BG 10.9 Tushyanti ca ramanti ca..

The thoughts of My pure devotees dwell in Me, their lives are fully devoted to My service, and they derive great satisfaction and bliss from always enlightening one another and conversing about Me.

The art of speaking – Penance of speech

BG 17.15

Austerity of speech consists in speaking words that are truthful, pleasing, beneficial, and not agitating to others, and also in regularly reciting Vedic literature.

One should not speak in such a way as to agitate the minds of others. Of course, when a teacher speaks, he can speak the truth for the instruction of his students, but such a teacher should not speak to those who are not his students if he will agitate their minds. This is penance as far as talking is concerned. Besides that, one should not talk nonsense. The process of speaking in spiritual circles is to say something upheld by the scriptures. One should at once quote from scriptural authority to back up what he is saying. At the same time, such talk should be very pleasurable to the ear. By such discussions, one may derive the highest benefit and elevate human society. There is a limitless stock of Vedic literature, and one should study this. This is called penance of speech.

The whole vedic culture is based on this austerity..  Means you are going to voluntarily deny yourself sense gratification, on the positive side you indulge in Krsna katha, kirtan, seva and prasad and smaran. This is the culture and proceeds through questions and answers. This is very important to understand the culture of Krsna consciousness.

This also explained in SB 3.25.25

SB 3.25.25

Culture of Krsna Consciousness – association and hearing

In the association of pure devotees, discussion of the pastimes and activities of the Supreme Personality of Godhead is very pleasing and satisfying to the ear and the heart. By cultivating such knowledge one gradually becomes advanced on the path of liberation, and thereafter he is freed, and his attraction becomes fixed. Then real devotion and devotional service begin.

SB 2.3.17 – Time is the most precious

“Both by rising and setting, the sun decreases the duration of life of everyone, except one who utilizes the time by discussing topics of the all-good Personality of Godhead.”

TIME

“This verse indirectly confirms the greater importance of utilizing the human form of life to realize our lost relationship with the Supreme Lord by acceleration of devotional service. Time and tide wait for no man. So the time indicated by the sunrise and the sunset will be uselessly wasted if such time is not properly utilized for realizing identification of spiritual values. Even a fraction of the duration of life wasted cannot be compensated by any amount of gold.

“Human life is simply awarded to a living entity, jīva, so he can realize his spiritual identity and his permanent source of happiness. A living being, especially the human being, is seeking happiness, because happiness is the natural situation of the living entity. But he is vainly seeking happiness in the material atmosphere. A living being is constitutionally a spiritual spark of the complete whole, and his happiness can be perfectly perceived in spiritual activities. The Lord is the complete spirit whole, and His name, form, quality, pastimes, entourage and personality are all identical with Him.

“Once a person comes into contact with any one of the above-mentioned energies of the Lord through the proper channel of devotional service, the door of perfection is immediately opened. In the Bhagavad-gītā the Lord has explained such contact in the following words = ‘Endeavors in devotional service are never baffled, nor is there failure. A slight beginning of such activities is sufficient even to deliver a person…, sufficient even to deliver a person from the great ocean of material fears.’ [Bg. 2.40]

“As a highly potent drug injected intravenously acts at once on the whole body, similarly, the transcendental topics of the Lord injected through the ear of the pure devotee of the Lord can act very efficiently. Aural realization of the transcendental messages implies total realization, just as fructification of one part of a tree implies fructification of all other parts. This realization for a moment in the association of pure devotees like Śukadeva Gosvāmī prepares one’s complete life for eternity, and as such the sun fails to rob the pure devotee of his duration of life, inasmuch as he is constantly busy in the devotional service of the Lord, purifying his existence.

Two types of pujas – Do pujas for money and do pujas to help people become devotees. Yesterday I was doing a shradh ceremony and I was able to hold them for 4 hours. The boy was reading “DOG MAN”.. I told him I will give him the book GOD MAN… Disney movies are all junk.. People think that Disney movies or videos are educational.. They purposefully are conditioning the children to recognize a pervert’s voice as good. Everything today is organized to derail people from the path of spiritual culture.

All the activities  – haering, eating prasadam, chanting, dancing, preaching, learning deity worship all these things are purifying.. All the other things watching mickey mouse, hearing dumbo they are all contaminating..

DEATH

“Death is a symptom of the material infection of the eternal living being, and due to material infection only, the eternal living being is subjected to the law of birth, death, old age and disease. The materialistic way of pious activities like charity, etc., is recommended in the smṛti-śāstras, as quoted by Śrīla Viśvanātha Cakravartī Ṭhākura.

CHARITY

Money given in charity to a suitable person is guaranteed bank balance in the next life. Such charity is recommended to be given to a brāhmaṇa. If the money is given in charity to a non-brāhmaṇa without brahminical qualification, the money is returned in the next life in the same proportion. If it is given in charity to a half-educated brāhmaṇa, even then the money is returned double. If the money is given in charity to a learned and fully qualified brāhmaṇa, the money is returned a hundred and thousand times, and if the money is given to a veda-pāraga, one who has actually realized the path of the Vedas, it is returned by unlimited multiplication.

You can believe this or not believe it.. This is SP speaking we need to believe it..

“The ultimate end of Vedic knowledge is to realize the Personality of Godhead, Lord Kṛṣṇa, as it is stated in the Bhagavad-gītā = vedaiś ca sarvair aham eva vedyaḥ [Bg. 15.15]. There is guarantee of money being returned if given in charity regardless of the proportion. Similarly, a moment passed in the association of a pure devotee by hearing and chanting the transcendental messages of the Lord is a perfect guarantee for eternal life for returning home, back to Godhead. Mad-dhāma gatvā punar janma na vidyate [Bg. 8.16]. In other words, a devotee of the Lord is guaranteed eternal life. A devotee’s old age or disease in the present life is but an impetus to such guaranteed eternal life.”

Prabhupāda: So, āyur harati vai puṁsām. The sunshine, sunrise and sunset, means decreasing our life. It is very nice example. The sun’s business is to take away a portion of your span of life. That is business. But he cannot take away the portion of the life of a devotee. Because a devotee is going to live. This Kṛṣṇa consciousness movement is to give a living entity a permanent span of life. Uttama-śloka-vārtayā. Uttama-śloka is Kṛṣṇa. Uttama-śloke….

Bhaktir bhavati naiṣṭhikī uttama-ślo…, bhagavaty uttama-śloke. In another place it is stated, tadā… Naṣṭa-prāyeṣv abhadreṣu. Naṣṭa-prāyeṣv abhadreṣu nityaṁ bhāgavata-sevayā [SB 1.2.18]. Nityam… Just like we are holding class daily, nityam, regularly. Nityam means regularly, daily, always. So nityaṁ bhāgavata-sevayā. The beginning… Just like when a man is infected with a disease, he is subjected to death. Crude example. So when a man falls diseased, the physician tries to get him relieved from that infection.

So our material body is an infection. Actually, we spiritual soul, we have no death. It is due to this infection. This infection is called dirty things. Actually it is dirt. “Dust thou art, dust thou be-ist,” that’s a fact. Because as soon as I, the soul, will leave this body, it will be immediately decomposed, and after a few days it will be earth, dust. So actually it is dirt. So we have to cleanse this dirt from my real identity, spiritual life.

This is the process. And this cleansing process is very nicely done simply by hearing the message of Uttama-śloka, or Kṛṣṇa. You haven’t got to scratch it with some machine. No. It will be automatically cleansed if you simply give aural reception to the message of the Uttama-śloka, which is, in other word, it is called kṛṣṇa-kathā. Kṛṣṇa-kathā means words of Kṛṣṇa. Kathā means words, and kṛṣṇa, you understand. So kṛṣṇa-kathā, Bhagavad-gītā, Kṛṣṇa personally giving you words of instruction. So if we simply read Bhagavad-gītā, then the sun cannot take away the, my duration of life.

How? What is the proof? The proof is the Bhagavad-gītā. In the Bhagavad-gītā the Lord says, janma karma me divyaṁ yo jānāti tattvataḥ [Bg. 4.9] = “Anyone who understands about My birth and appearance…” Lord does not take birth. Aja. Aja means who never takes birth. Ever-existing. Ajo ‘pi sann avyayātmā bhūtānām īśvaro ‘pi san [Bg. 4.6], sambhavāmi yuge yuge [Bg. 4.8]. So aja, one who does not take birth, but still we see that Kṛṣṇa is taking birth. We are observing the birth anniversary of Lord Kṛṣṇa. So therefore what is the mystery? He does not take birth. Still, we are observing the birth anniversary of Kṛṣṇa, Janmāṣṭamī. So this is to be understood tattvataḥ, in truth. Yo jānāti tattvataḥ.

Kṛṣṇa says, Veda says that na tasya kāryaṁ karaṇaṁ ca vidyate. “The Supreme Lord God has nothing to do.” Why He shall do? So… And again, we see that Kṛṣṇa, since the day of His appearance at His maternal uncle’s prison till to His going back to His own home, He was always active. Active means especially in killing the demons. But such demons could be killed without the presence of the Supreme Personality of Godhead. If there is little earthquake, millions of demons can be killed. It is not very difficult job. If the Pacific Ocean overfloods this city, millions of people can be killed. If there is a war, millions of people can be killed. If there is epidemic, millions of men can be killed. So killing the demons, for that purpose He does not come, Kṛṣṇa. Rather, Kṛṣṇa’s many agents, they can kill such demons without any difficulty.

But He comes, paritrāṇāya sādhūnām [Bg. 4.8]. Just like Lord Nṛsiṁha appeared not to kill the demon Hiraṇyakaśipu—he could be killed otherwise—but He appeared for Prahlāda. Prahlāda Mahārāja, he was being so much teased and so much tortured, He could not tolerate it. So He wanted to show His devotee that “I shall kill your torturer before you.” That is the purpose. So He did not appear for killing Hiraṇyakaśipu; He appeared to give encouragement to Prahlāda Mahārāja. As He says, kaunteya pratijānīhi na me bhaktaḥ praṇaśyati [Bg. 9.31]. He asked Arjuna to declare, “My dear Arjuna, you declare that My devotee will never be vanquished.” So therefore He comes.

So these are the understanding of the Supreme Personality of Godhead in toto. So if we discuss about kṛṣṇa-kathā, the words of Kṛṣṇa… There are two books, words of Kṛṣṇa. One, Bhagavad-gītā. Every Vedic literature is kṛṣṇa-kathā, but these two books especially, kṛṣṇa-kathā. Bhagavad-gītā, Kṛṣṇa is directly speaking, and Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam, directly speaking about Kṛṣṇa. Both of them are kṛṣṇa-kathā. So therefore here it is said that uttama-śloka-vārtayā. Vārtā means message, words. So if we pass our time simply by reading and talking about Kṛṣṇa, then the sun will not be able to take away our life. This is the secret. If you want to become immortal, then you always be engaged in kṛṣṇa-kathā. Always, twenty-four hours, always think of Kṛṣṇa. This is Kṛṣṇa consciousness.

So everyone is dying, but those who are engaged in kṛṣṇa-kathā, in Kṛṣṇa consciousness, those who are busy in Kṛṣṇa’s business, they are not dying. They are living. How? Because ordinary man, his duration of life, span of life, is being taken away by the sun rising and sunset every day. If a man is fifty years old, that means… He has to live for eighty years. So fifty years’ duration has already been taken away by the sun. Fifty years old means that fifty years of time has already been taken away by the sun. It will never come back. “But what about the devotees? He is also the same. His, also, life is being taken away?” No. His life is not being taken away, because he is going to live. Superficially we see that the body of a devotee is also taken away. But this is not the real body. Real body is the spiritual body.

Hearing must be from sādhu, from devotee, from the lips of the devotee. Just like Śukadeva Gosvāmī was speaking to Mahārāja Parīkṣit. So… Or even if you hear yourself, you read books, you will save your life. If you simply read Kṛṣṇa book or Bhagavad-gītā or Teachings of Lord Caitanya, then you know the… As long as you are reading, the sun is unable to take your life. It is not possible for the sun to take your life. So if you constantly read, then where is the opportunity of sun’s taking your life? That means you are becoming immortal.

People are very much anxious to become immortal. Nobody wants to die. Everyone knows that “I shall die.” But if there is immediately some danger, fire, immediately you go away from this room. Why? I do not wish to die. I do not wish to die. Although I know I must have to die, still, why do I go away? I know that… “Oh, let there be fire. I have to die, today or tomorrow. Let me die.” No. I do not wish to die. Therefore I go away. This is psychology. So everyone wants to live forever. That’s a fact. So if you want to live forever, then you have to take to Kṛṣṇa consciousness. So Kṛṣṇa consciousness movement is so important and nice. Everyone wants to live. So actually, if you want to live, then you take to Kṛṣṇa consciousness.

So don’t waste your time by talking nonsense. Therefore Rūpa Gosvāmī has advised, atyāhāraḥ prayāsaś ca prajalpo niyamāgrahaḥ. Prajalpaḥ.

Because if I get more money, then immediately māyā will pa…, “Why don’t you spend for me?” Yes. So don’t collect more than… What you require, you collect. Or similarly, āhāra means eating. Don’t eat more than necessity. Actually, we have to come to the point of nil eating, sleeping, mating and defending. And that is not possible, because we have got this body. But minimum.

Minimalism

Following the crowd – It is called gaḍurikā-pravāha. Everyone is doing this, but he does not understand why he is doing it. There are many stories of this gaḍurikā-pravāha

Anyone who does not understand what is Kṛṣṇa and what is Kṛṣṇa’s service, he may be very big man in the ordinary estimation, but we don’t give him any value. Harāv abhaktasya kuto mahad-guṇā manorathenāsati dhāvato bahiḥ [SB 5.18.12]. Because they are mental speculators. They have no value. They have their value in their own way, but according to our line of thought, they have no value.

SB 2.1.5 – This is the process of Kṛṣṇa consciousness.

Anyone… After hearing, everyone can talk about Kṛṣṇa. And while hearing and talking, he can remember about Kṛṣṇa. And everyone can worship in the temple. Where is the difficulty? By prosecuting these four principles of Kṛṣṇa consciousness, you become immortal. No austerity. No austerity, no penance, no education, no riches. Simply by following these four principles, you become immortal.

So this verse is very important. Āyur harati vai puṁsām udyann astaṁ ca yann asau tasyarte yat-kṣaṇo nīta. Tasya ṛte, one who is passing time in this way, simply with kṛṣṇa-kathā, chanting also… If you have no time… If you have now spare time, don’t sit idly. If there is no facility for reading books or talking about Kṛṣṇa, chant Hare Kṛṣṇa, Hare Kṛṣṇa, Kṛṣṇa Kṛṣṇa, Hare Hare.

If you have got… Next moment, you can interchange, read something. Always be busy with Kṛṣṇa. Then the sun will not be able to kill you. You are going to live forever. This is the process.

2nd chapter is full of transcendental messages

  • Minimalism,
  • BG 10.11 – Even if you do not have enough money, Krsna will provide to the pure devotee a comfortable life.
  • Bhakti charu Swami maharaj. left college, no money, guru gave services… After that he became a guru and all of a sudden everything changed for him. He had a good life, a lot of money and engaged in the service of Srila prabhupada.
  • If you are not preaching, you need to have money, if you become a preacher, pure in heart, gentle and kind – so much is going to come your way..
  • Prostitute in CC – got everything she needed..
  • If you become a real preacher of KC you do not have to worry about money
  • Not everyone can do that.. you can be a minimalist and use everything else for the service of the lord, the same result will come.
  • Believe in the words of the acharyas

SB 2.8.18 Notes – 11/22/21

KEY TAKEAWAYS FROM HH HARIVILAS MAHARAJ’S MORNING BHAGAVATAM CLASS ON SB 2.8.18:

  • The common religion of all classes of human beings, regardless of whosoever and whatsoever one may be, is devotional service.
  • Even the animals may be included in devotional service to the Lord, and the best example is set by Śrī Vajrāṅgajī, or Hanumān, the great devotee of Lord Śrī Rāma.
  • Even the aborigines and cannibals can also be engaged in the devotional service of the Lord if they happen to be under the guidance of a genuine devotee of the Lord.
  • Therefore devotional service to the Lord can be equally shared by every living being.
  • As will be explained in this book by the greatest authority, Śrīla Śukadeva Gosvāmī, there is no religion save and except the devotional service of the Lord, though this may be presented in different forms.
  • People following the principles of devotional service to the Lord can never be put into difficulty, and thus there cannot be any question of āpad-dharma, or religion in distress.
  • Religious affiliation in terms of different countries and cultural circumstances is obviously not the common religion of the human being; rather, the basic principle is devotional service.
  • Even if a particular type of religious principle does not recognize the supremacy of the Supreme Personality of Godhead, the followers still have to obey the disciplinary principles laid down by a particular leader.
  • Such a leader of a religious sect is never the supreme leader because such a circumstantial leader comes to the position of leadership after undergoing some penance.
  • The Supreme Personality of Godhead does not, however, require to be under disciplinary action to become leader, as we see in the activities of Lord Kṛṣṇa.
  • Persons generally conducted by the modes of passion and ignorance cannot be bona fide candidates for being situated in the transcendental stage of God realization. Only persons conducted by the mode of goodness can have the knowledge of the Supreme Truth.
  • Effects of the modes of passion and ignorance are manifested by too much hankering after wealth and women.
  • And those who are too much after wealth and women can rectify their leanings only by constant remembrance of Viṣṇu in His feature composed of impersonal potentcies.
  • Pantheism in its higher status does not permit the student to form an impersonal conception of the Absolute Truth, but it extends the conception of the Absolute Truth into the field of the so-called material energy.
  • Everything created by the material energy can be dovetailed with the Absolute by an attitude of service, which is the essential part of living energy.
  • The pure devotee of the Lord knows the art of converting everything into its spiritual existence by this service attitude, and only in that devotional way can the theory of pantheism be perfected.

SB 2.8.18 TRANSLATION:

Questions on common religious, Occupational duties and

Please also explain what may generally be the common religious affiliations of human society, as well as their specific occupational duties in religion, the classification of the social orders as well as the administrative royal orders, and the religious principles for one who may be in distress.

Common religious affiliation – In all religions there is service to God, Islam, Christianity, Budhism, Atheism.. There is the concept of service.. SP is so brilliant, it is coming from the guru parampara..

The common religion of all classes of human beings, regardless of whosoever and whatsoever one may be, is devotional service. Even the animals may be included in devotional service to the Lord, and the best example is set by Śrī Vajrāṅgajī, or Hanumān, the great devotee of Lord Śrī Rāma. As we have already discussed, even the aborigines and cannibals can also be engaged in the devotional service of the Lord if they happen to be under the guidance of a genuine devotee of the Lord. In the Skanda Purāṇa there is a narration that a hunter in the jungle became the most enlightened devotee of the Lord by the guidance of Śrī Nārada Muni. Therefore devotional service to the Lord can be equally shared by every living being.

If animals can do it.. Even the lowest of mankind can do it..

Religious affiliation in terms of different countries and cultural circumstances is obviously not the common religion of the human being; rather, the basic principle is devotional service. Even if a particular type of religious principle does not recognize the supremacy of the Supreme Personality of Godhead, the followers still have to obey the disciplinary principles laid down by a particular leader. Such a leader of a religious sect is never the supreme leader because such a circumstantial leader comes to the position of leadership after undergoing some penance.

Rosicrucian – A man comes with a card saying that he is God. He said he dod some yoga.. Some courses to become God.

When Maharaj was in france.. His neighbor took him to a rosicrucian master..  This man is an older gentleman .. greeted us.. The neighbor introduced maharaj… and he asked to meditate on a kaleidoscope.. Master was teaching a neighbor how to pronounce OM.. a u m…. Upstairs while maharaj was down stairs.. Everything was old in the room… It looked like the 18th century.. Cats looking at maharaj.. Mystical power of sounds and mantras. They are western shaktas.. Sadguru is also a shakta and he teaches people how to develop powers.. This attracts people and feeds their false ego.. They are a bunch of nonsense people..

There is a way of preaching to them.. They want to go in a slow way.. The secret is to get them involved in devotional service..

Anyone, even the worst people, can become devotees…

Rama Krishna was also a shakta.. He was a little bit of everything. As soon as someone asks for a debate.. He would go on samadhi.. They develop power by purposefully sinning.. Eating stool, worshipping the yoni of wife, he was a freak.. He could not read, he was illiterate.. He made a big hodgepodge of religion.. It is still a religion..

In all these things people make little bit of progress, little purification, but their false ego gets so much puffed up..

Engaging people in Devotional service – Jayananda SP called him a saint, very nice guy, he was not preaching, he was engaging everyone in devotional service..

Building Rath he would engage everyone in service.. He planned the whole thing out to get people engaged.. We have to get better and better at engaging in service.

Many people have come into the movement because of ananda mela..

The Supreme Personality of Godhead does not, however, require to be under disciplinary action to become leader, as we see in the activities of Lord Kṛṣṇa.

The occupational duties of the castes and the orders of society, following the principles of livelihood, also depend on the principle of devotional service. In the Bhagavad-gītā it is stated that a person can achieve the highest perfection of life simply by awarding the results of his occupational duty unto the devotional service of the Lord. People following the principles of devotional service to the Lord can never be put into difficulty, and thus there cannot be any question of āpad-dharma, or religion in distress. As will be explained in this book by the greatest authority, Śrīla Śukadeva Gosvāmī, there is no religion save and except the devotional service of the Lord, though this may be presented in different forms.

  • Very thorough exposition of fundamental questions that need to be answered if one has to understand what is the purpose of life and how to attain it.
  • Maharaj Parikshit is a highly educated person.. He wanted Sukhdev Goswami to explain to everyone in the future.  Even after 5000 years we are reading it..
  • It is not a DIY project, we need to get the help of bonafide devotees. Srila Prabhupada is the most bonafide we know of.
  • Maya is so powerful, she is waiting for a little bit of wriggling room, to enter in. The room is the modern education.

SB 2.1.20

One’s mind is always agitated by the passionate mode of material nature and bewildered by the ignorant mode of nature. But one can rectify such conceptions by the relation of Viṣṇu and thus become pacified by cleansing the dirty things created by them.

Mode of passion  – agitates mind

Mode of ignorance – bewilders the mind

Example – Kamsa driving the chariot for sister and suddenly gets agitated by the word of Akashvani and tries killing own sister

Crimes of passion happen all the time in the world – Remote control fights ending up in killing , divorce fights ending up in killing.

What do we do about it?

K-12 – All kids in the class are muslims.

They all had their burkha on.

Muslims are very smart, they know exactly what they are doing. They have all encompassing strategy to take over this country. They want to protect their people. They do not want their people to be duped by the modern education, technology, modern culture, they do not want their kids to be contaminated. They want to protect them from the onslaught of Kali yuga.

Why would a woman wear a burqa in public to stop instigating passion?

The woman  should cover their hair. This was normal, previously no decent woman would be seen in public. Women used to go in palanquins..

Nowadays… young girls in uniform smoking cigarettes, talking nonsense.

Culture is changing very very fast. Is there a strategy not to become a victim of downward spiral of rajas and  tamas, the muslims are not letting that happen.

Persons generally conducted by the modes of passion and ignorance cannot be bona fide candidates for being situated in the transcendental stage of God realization. Only persons conducted by the mode of goodness can have the knowledge of the Supreme Truth.

Everyone is in the modes of passion and ignorance.. They have no chance understanding the absolute truth unless they come to the mode of goodness. Women are wearing skimpy dresses to have good time. This is promoted publicity..

Effects of the modes of passion and ignorance are manifested by too much hankering after wealth and women. And those who are too much after wealth and women can rectify their leanings only by constant remembrance of Viṣṇu in His feature composed of impersonal potentcies.

Why does he say impersonal potencies of Vishnu instead of meditating on Vishnu..? Because massive people are not going to do that..only small people will do that. But more people can become impersonalists.. But at least has a chance to slowly progress.

BG 12.5

For those whose minds are attached to the unmanifested, impersonal feature of the Supreme, advancement is very troublesome. To make progress in that discipline is always difficult for those who are embodied.

BG 12.3-4

But those who fully worship the unmanifested, that which lies beyond the perception of the senses, the all-pervading, inconceivable, unchanging, fixed and immovable – the impersonal conception of the Absolute Truth – by controlling the various senses and being equally disposed to everyone, such persons, engaged in the welfare of all, at last achieve Me.

Those who do not directly worship the Supreme Godhead, Kṛṣṇa, but who attempt to achieve the same goal by an indirect process, also ultimately achieve the same goal, Śrī Kṛṣṇa. “After many births the man of wisdom seeks refuge in Me, knowing that Vāsudeva is all.” When a person comes to full knowledge after many births, he surrenders unto Lord Kṛṣṇa. If one approaches the Godhead by the method mentioned in this verse, he has to control the senses, render service to everyone and engage in the welfare of all beings. It is inferred that one has to approach Lord Kṛṣṇa, otherwise there is no perfect realization. Often there is much penance involved before one fully surrenders unto Him.

In order to perceive the Supersoul within the individual soul, one has to cease the sensual activities of seeing, hearing, tasting, working, etc. Then one comes to understand that the Supreme Soul is present everywhere. Realizing this, one envies no living entity – he sees no difference between man and animal because he sees soul only, not the outer covering. But for the common man, this method of impersonal realization is very difficult.

Generally the impersonalists or monists are influenced by the modes of passion and ignorance. Such impersonalists think of themselves as liberated souls, but they have no knowledge of the transcendental personal feature of the Absolute Truth. Actually they are impure in heart on account of being devoid of knowledge of the personal feature of the Absolute. In the Bhagavad-gītā, it is said that after many hundreds of births, the impersonal philosopher surrenders unto the Personality of Godhead. To acquire such a qualification of God realization in the personal feature, the neophyte impersonalist is given a chance to realize the relation of the Lord in everything by the philosophy of pantheism.

Pantheism – means Believe in many Gods..

Pantheism in its higher status does not permit the student to form an impersonal conception of the Absolute Truth, but it extends the conception of the Absolute Truth into the field of the so-called material energy. Everything created by the material energy can be dovetailed with the Absolute by an attitude of service, which is the essential part of living energy. The pure devotee of the Lord knows the art of converting everything into its spiritual existence by this service attitude, and only in that devotional way can the theory of pantheism be perfected.

Even a mayavadi, atheist, demon, can become spiritually advanced by doing devotional service. If you engage anyone in devotional service.. They become devotees..

You do not have to preach.. You just engage them in service… you can simply ask .. can you hold this broom.. Do you want to sweep along with me.. Now they are doing devotional service in the temple..

Example – Shyam Sundar engaged people outsiders in the food truck..

This is an extremely profound purport by Srila Prabhupada. If you can understand what he is saying it is a brilliant realization. Even the pantheist cannot see like this even the impersonalist cannot see like this.

Impersonalism can lead to Krsna – it is a slow and arduous process..

KEY TAKEAWAYS FROM HH HARIVILAS MAHARAJ’S MORNING BHAGAVATAM CLASS ON SB 2.8.15 – 17:

  • Those who are of the opinion that the devotees of the Lord are satisfied with mere sentiments can find in the inquiries of Mahārāja Parīkṣit good lessons as to how inquisitive a pure devotee is to know things in their true perfection.

  • Kṛṣṇa states in Bhagavad-gītā that of all the living entities in different forms and species, “I am the father.” The father gives seeds to the womb of the mother for the child, and similarly the Supreme Lord by His mere glance injects all the living entities into the womb of material nature, and they come out in their different forms and species, according to their last desires and activities.

  • Thus to hear the activities of the Lord means to associate with the Lord directly, and association with the Lord directly means purification from material contamination.

SB 2.8.15 TRANSLATION:

O best of the brāhmaṇas, please also describe how the creation of the globes throughout the universe, the four directions of the heavens, the sky, the planets, the stars, the mountains, the rivers, the seas and the islands, as well as their different kinds of inhabitants, takes place.

The inhabitants of different varieties of land, etc., are differently situated, and not all of them are equal in all respects. The inhabitants of the land are different from the inhabitants of the water or the sky, and similarly the inhabitants of the different planets and stars in the sky are also different from one another. By the laws of the Lord, no place is vacant, but the creatures of one particular place are different from those of other places. Even in human society the inhabitants of the jungles or the deserts are different from those of the cities and villages. They are so made according to different qualities of the modes of nature. Such adjustment by the laws of nature is not blind. There is a great plan behind the arrangement. Mahārāja Parīkṣit requests the great sage Śukadeva Gosvāmī to explain all these authoritatively, in accordance with proper understanding.

SB 2.8.16

Also, please describe the inner and outer space of the universe by specific divisions, as well as the character and activities of the great souls, and also the characteristics of the different classifications of the castes and orders of social life.

Mahārāja Parīkṣit is a typical devotee of Lord Kṛṣṇa, and as such, he is anxious to know the complete significance of the creation of the Lord. He wants to know the inner and outer space of the universal form. It is quite fitting for the real searcher of knowledge to know all about this. Those who are of the opinion that the devotees of the Lord are satisfied with mere sentiments can find in the inquiries of Mahārāja Parīkṣit good lessons as to how inquisitive a pure devotee is to know things in their true perfection. The modern scientist is unable to know about the inner space of the universal horizon, and what to speak of the space which covers the universe.

Mahārāja Parīkṣit is not satisfied with only material knowledge. He is inquisitive about the character and activities of the great souls, the devotees of the Lord. The glories of the Lord and the glories of His devotees, combined together, comprise the complete knowledge of Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam. Lord Kṛṣṇa showed His mother the complete universal creation within His mouth, while she, completely charmed by her son, wanted to look inside the mouth of the Lord just to see how much earth the child had eaten. By the grace of the Lord the devotees are able to see everything in the universe within the mouth of the Lord.

The very idea of the scientific divisions of four classes of human society and four orders of life is also inquired about herewith on the basis of individual personal quality. The four divisions are exactly like the four divisions of one’s personal body. The parts and parcels of the body are nondifferent from the body, but by themselves they are only parts. That is the significance of the whole scientific system of four castes and four social orders. The value of such scientific divisions of human society can be ascertained only in terms of the proportionate development of devotional service to the Lord. Any person employed in government service, including the president, is a part and parcel of the entire government. Everyone is a government servant, but no one is the government himself. That is the position of all living entities in the government of the Supreme Lord. No one can artificially claim the supreme position of the Lord, but everyone is meant to serve the purpose of the supreme whole.

SB 2.8.17

Please explain all the different ages in the duration of the creation, and also the duration of such ages. Also tell me about the different activities of the different incarnations of the Lord in different ages.

Lord Kṛṣṇa is the original Personality of Godhead, and all the incarnations of the Supreme Lord, although nondifferent from Him, are emanations from the Supreme. Mahārāja Parīkṣit inquired from the great and learned sage Śukadeva Gosvāmī about the different activities of such incarnations so that the incarnation of the Lord might be confirmed by His activities in the authoritative scriptures.

Scientists do not want to know about the origin and the end they are only interested in what happened in between.,

BG 9.10

This material nature, which is one of My energies, is working under My direction, O son of Kuntī, producing all moving and nonmoving beings. Under its rule this manifestation is created and annihilated again and again.

It is clearly stated here that the Supreme Lord, although aloof from all the activities of the material world, remains the supreme director. The Supreme Lord is the supreme will and the background of this material manifestation, but the management is being conducted by material nature. Kṛṣṇa also states in Bhagavad-gītā that of all the living entities in different forms and species, “I am the father.” The father gives seeds to the womb of the mother for the child, and similarly the Supreme Lord by His mere glance injects all the living entities into the womb of material nature, and they come out in their different forms and species, according to their last desires and activities. All these living entities, although born under the glance of the Supreme Lord, take their different bodies according to their past deeds and desires. So the Lord is not directly attached to this material creation. He simply glances over material nature; material nature is thus activated, and everything is created immediately. Because He glances over material nature, there is undoubtedly activity on the part of the Supreme Lord, but He has nothing to do with the manifestation of the material world directly. This example is given in the smṛti: when there is a fragrant flower before someone, the fragrance is touched by the smelling power of the person, yet the smelling and the flower are detached from one another. There is a similar connection between the material world and the Supreme Personality of Godhead; actually He has nothing to do with this material world, but He creates by His glance and ordains. In summary, material nature, without the superintendence of the Supreme Personality of Godhead, cannot do anything. Yet the Supreme Personality is detached from all material activities.

Mahārāja Parīkṣit was not to be carried away by the sentiments of the common man to accept an incarnation of the Lord very cheaply. Instead he wished to accept the incarnation of the Lord by symptoms mentioned in the Vedic literatures and confirmed by an ācārya like Śukadeva Gosvāmī. The Lord descends by His internal energy without any obligation to the laws of material nature, and thus His activities are also uncommon. The specific activities of the Lord are mentioned, and one should know that the activities of the Lord and the Lord Himself are identical due to being on the absolute plane. Thus to hear the activities of the Lord means to associate with the Lord directly, and association with the Lord directly means purification from material contamination. We have already discussed this point in the previous volume.

SB 2.8.14 Notes – 11/20/21

KEY TAKEAWAYS FROM HH HARIVILAS MAHARAJ’S MORNING BHAGAVATAM CLASS ON SB 2.8.14:

  • Life in the higher planets, known as the abodes of the denizens of heaven, is obtained not by the strength of spacecraft (as is now being contemplated by the inexperienced scientists), but by works done in the mode of goodness.
  • Even on the very planet where we are now living, there are restrictions upon the entrance of foreigners into a country where the citizens are more prosperous.
  • Similarly, the same mentality is prevailing in every other planet where there are more intelligent living beings residing.
  • The higher planetary living conditions are all in the mode of goodness, and anyone desiring to enter the higher planets like the moon, sun and Venus must qualify thoroughly by activity in complete goodness.
  • One cannot enter into the higher planetary systems without being qualified by good works in this life.
  • Persons addicted to the habits of passion and ignorance have no chance of entering the higher planetary systems simply by an electronic mechanism.
  • The various actions and reactions of work in the mode of goodness are generally known as pious work with devotional service, culture of knowledge with devotional service, mystic powers with devotional service and (at last) devotional service unmixed with any other varieties of goodness.
  • This unmixed devotional service is transcendental and is called parā bhakti. It alone can promote a person to the transcendental kingdom of God. Such a transcendental kingdom is not a myth, but is as factual as the moon.
  • One must have transcendental qualities to understand the kingdom of God and God Himself.
  • It is by great fortune that one comes to Kṛṣṇa consciousness on the path of bhakti-yoga to become well situated according to the Vedic direction.
  • The ideal yogī concentrates his attention on Kṛṣṇa, who is called Śyāmasundara, who is as beautifully colored as a cloud, whose lotuslike face is as effulgent as the sun, whose dress is brilliant with jewels, and whose body is flower-garlanded. Illuminating all sides is His gorgeous luster, which is called the brahma-jyotir.
  • Vedic knowledge is called śruti, learning by aural reception. One should actually receive the Vedic message from authorities like Kṛṣṇa and His representatives.
  • Here Kṛṣṇa distinguishes everything very nicely, and one should hear from this source. Simply to hear like the hogs is not sufficient; one must be able to understand from the authorities. It is not that one should simply speculate academically. One should submissively hear from Bhagavad-gītā that these living entities are always subordinate to the Supreme Personality of Godhead. Anyone who is able to understand this, according to the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Śrī Kṛṣṇa, knows the purpose of the Vedas; no one else knows the purpose of the Vedas.
  • “Only unto those great souls who have implicit faith in both the Lord and the spiritual master are all the imports of Vedic knowledge automatically revealed.” (Śvetāśvatara Upaniṣad 6.23)
  • The complete functional activities of a pure devotee are always engaged in the service of the Lord, and thus the pure devotees exchange feelings of ecstasy between themselves and relish transcendental bliss. This transcendental bliss is experienced even in the stage of devotional practice (sādhana-avasthā), if properly undertaken under the guidance of a bona fide spiritual master.
  • The first-class devotee of the Lord, despite his loftiness, for the Lord’s satisfaction he may play the voluntary part of a preacher of the Lord’s glory and dovetail all into devotional service, even mundane interest, just to give the neophytes a chance to transform mundane interest into transcendental bliss.
  • Śrīla Rūpa Gosvāmī has described this action of a pure devotee as nirbandhaḥ kṛṣṇa-sambandhe yuktaṁ vairāgyam ucyate. Even mundane activities dovetailed with service to the Lord are also calculated to be transcendental or approved kaivalya affairs.

SB 2.8.14 TRANSLATION:

Then again, kindly describe how the proportionate accumulation of the reactions resulting from the different modes of material nature act upon the desiring living being, promoting or degrading him among the different species of life, beginning from the demigods down to the most insignificant creatures.

The actions and reactions of all works in the material modes of nature, either in the minute form or in the gigantic form, are accumulated, and thus the result of such accumulated actions and reactions of karma, or work, become manifested in the same proportion. How such actions and reactions take place, what the different procedures are, and in what proportion they act are all subject matters of Mahārāja Parīkṣit’s inquiries from the great brāhmaṇa Śukadeva Gosvāmī.

Life in the higher planets, known as the abodes of the denizens of heaven, is obtained not by the strength of spacecraft (as is now being contemplated by the inexperienced scientists), but by works done in the mode of goodness.

It is impossible to go back to Godhead without pure love and devotional service.

We can see how people are wasting time and human energy and wasting precious human life on useless things to – do things which are impossible..

If you read SB you will not waste your time on things which are impossible to achieve.

Even on the very planet where we are now living, there are restrictions upon the entrance of foreigners into a country where the citizens are more prosperous. For example, the American government has many restrictions for the entrance of foreigners from less prosperous countries. The reason is that the Americans do not wish to share their prosperity with any foreigner who has not qualified himself as a citizen of America. Similarly, the same mentality is prevailing in every other planet where there are more intelligent living beings residing. The higher planetary living conditions are all in the mode of goodness, and anyone desiring to enter the higher planets like the moon, sun and Venus must qualify thoroughly by activity in complete goodness.

Mahārāja Parīkṣit’s inquiries are on the basis of proportionate actions of goodness which qualify one in this planet to be promoted to the highest regions of the universe.

Even on this planet of our present residence, one cannot achieve a good position within the social order without being qualified with proportionate good work. One cannot forcibly sit on the chair of a high-court judge without being qualified for the post. Similarly, one cannot enter into the higher planetary systems without being qualified by good works in this life. Persons addicted to the habits of passion and ignorance have no chance of entering the higher planetary systems simply by an electronic mechanism.

According to the statement of the Bhagavad-gītā (9.25), persons trying to qualify themselves for promotion to the higher, heavenly planets can go there; similarly, persons trying for the Pitṛlokas can go there; similarly, persons trying to improve the conditions on this earth can also do that, and persons who are engaged in going back home, back to Godhead, can achieve that result. The various actions and reactions of work in the mode of goodness are generally known as pious work with devotional service, culture of knowledge with devotional service, mystic powers with devotional service and (at last) devotional service unmixed with any other varieties of goodness. This unmixed devotional service is transcendental and is called parā bhakti. It alone can promote a person to the transcendental kingdom of God. Such a transcendental kingdom is not a myth, but is as factual as the moon. One must have transcendental qualities to understand the kingdom of God and God Himself.

If you want to progress in this life you have to be in the mode of goodness.

It is by great fortune that one comes to Kṛṣṇa consciousness on the path of bhakti-yoga to become well situated according to the Vedic direction. The ideal yogī concentrates his attention on Kṛṣṇa, who is called Śyāmasundara, who is as beautifully colored as a cloud, whose lotuslike face is as effulgent as the sun, whose dress is brilliant with jewels, and whose body is flower-garlanded. Illuminating all sides is His gorgeous luster, which is called the brahma-jyotir. He incarnates in different forms such as Rāma, Nṛsiṁha, Varāha and Kṛṣṇa, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, and He descends like a human being, as the son of mother Yaśodā, and He is known as Kṛṣṇa, Govinda and Vāsudeva. He is the perfect child, husband, friend and master, and He is full with all opulences and transcendental qualities. If one remains fully conscious of these features of the Lord, he is called the highest yogī.

BG 15.19 SECOND PARA

Whoever knows Me as the Supreme Personality of Godhead, without doubting, is the knower of everything. He therefore engages himself in full devotional service to Me, O son of Bharata.

There are many philosophical speculations about the constitutional position of the living entities and the Supreme Absolute Truth. Now in this verse the Supreme Personality of Godhead clearly explains that anyone who knows Lord Kṛṣṇa to be the Supreme Person is actually the knower of everything. The imperfect knower goes on simply speculating about the Absolute Truth, but the perfect knower, without wasting his valuable time, engages directly in Kṛṣṇa consciousness, the devotional service of the Supreme Lord. Throughout the whole of Bhagavad-gītā, this fact is being stressed at every step. And still there are so many stubborn commentators on Bhagavad-gītā who consider the Supreme Absolute Truth and the living entities to be one and the same.

Vedic knowledge is called śruti, learning by aural reception. One should actually receive the Vedic message from authorities like Kṛṣṇa and His representatives. Here Kṛṣṇa distinguishes everything very nicely, and one should hear from this source.

The word bhajati is very significant. In many places the word bhajati is expressed in relationship with the service of the Supreme Lord. If a person is engaged in full Kṛṣṇa consciousness, in the devotional service of the Lord, it is to be understood that he has understood all the Vedic knowledge. In the Vaiṣṇava paramparā it is said that if one is engaged in the devotional service of Kṛṣṇa, then there is no need for any other spiritual process for understanding the Supreme Absolute Truth. He has already come to the point, because he is engaged in the devotional service of the Lord. He has ended all preliminary processes of understanding. But if anyone, after speculating for hundreds of thousands of lives, does not come to the point that Kṛṣṇa is the Supreme Personality of Godhead and that one has to surrender there, all his speculation for so many years and lives is a useless waste of time.

SB 2.8.7 – 15 – Questions asked by Parikshit maharaj

SB 2.4.3 – 7 – Questions asked by Parikshit maharaj

SB 2.3.19 -24 – Questions asked by Parikshit maharaj

2.4.3-4: O great sages, the great soul Mahārāja Parīkṣit, constantly rapt in thought of Lord Kṛṣṇa, knowing well of his imminent death, renounced all sorts of fruitive activities, namely acts of religion, economic development and sense gratification, and thus fixed himself firmly in his natural love for Kṛṣṇa and asked all these questions, exactly as you are asking me.

2.4.5: Mahārāja Parīkṣit said: O learned brāhmaṇa, you know everything because you are without material contamination. Therefore whatever you have spoken to me appears perfectly right. Your speeches are gradually destroying the darkness of my ignorance, for you are narrating the topics of the Lord.

SB 2.4.6: I beg to know from you how the Personality of Godhead, by His personal energies, creates these phenomenal universes as they are, which are inconceivable even to the great demigods.

2.4.7: Kindly describe how the Supreme Lord, who is all-powerful, engages His different energies and different expansions in maintaining and again winding up the phenomenal world in the sporting spirit of a player.

2.3.8:

One should worship Lord Viṣṇu or His devotee for spiritual advancement in knowledge, and for protection of heredity and advancement of a dynasty one should worship the various demigods.

2.3.10

A person who has broader intelligence, whether he be full of all material desire, without any material desire, or desiring liberation, must by all means worship the supreme whole, the Personality of Godhead.

2.3.11

All the different kinds of worshipers of multidemigods can attain the highest perfectional benediction, which is spontaneous attraction unflinchingly fixed upon the Supreme Personality of Godhead, only by the association of the pure devotee of the Lord.

2.3.12 (Pure devotee – even though loses interest in material connection he preaches dovetailing everything in KC)

Transcendental knowledge in relation with the Supreme Lord Hari is knowledge resulting in the complete suspension of the waves and whirlpools of the material modes. Such knowledge is self-satisfying due to its being free from material attachment, and being transcendental it is approved by authorities. Who could fail to be attracted?

BG 10.9

The thoughts of My pure devotees dwell in Me, their lives are fully devoted to My service, and they derive great satisfaction and bliss from always enlightening one another and conversing about Me.

According to Bhagavad-gītā (10.9) the characteristics of pure devotees are wonderful. The complete functional activities of a pure devotee are always engaged in the service of the Lord, and thus the pure devotees exchange feelings of ecstasy between themselves and relish transcendental bliss. This transcendental bliss is experienced even in the stage of devotional practice (sādhana-avasthā), if properly undertaken under the guidance of a bona fide spiritual master. And in the mature stage the developed transcendental feeling culminates in realization of the particular relationship with the Lord by which a living entity is originally constituted (up to the relationship of conjugal love with the Lord, which is estimated to be the highest transcendental bliss).

Thus bhakti-yoga, being the only means of God realization, is called kaivalya. Śrīla Jīva Gosvāmī quotes the Vedic version (eko nārāyaṇo devaḥ, parāvarāṇāṁ parama āste kaivalya-saṁjñitaḥ) in this connection and establishes that Nārāyaṇa, the Personality of Godhead, is known as kaivalya, and the means which enables one to approach the Lord is called the kaivalya-panthā, or the only means of attainment of Godhead. This kaivalya-panthā begins from śravaṇa, or hearing those topics that relate to the Personality of Godhead, and the natural consequence of hearing such hari-kathā is attainment of transcendental knowledge, which causes detachment from all mundane topics, for which a devotee has no taste at all. For a devotee, all mundane activities, social and political, become unattractive, and in the mature state such a devotee becomes uninterested even in his own body, and what to speak of bodily relatives. In such a state of affairs one is not agitated by the waves of the material modes. There are different modes of material nature, and all mundane functions in which a common man is very much interested or in which he takes part become unattractive for the devotee. This state of affairs is described herein as pratinivṛtta-guṇormi, and it is possible by ātma-prasāda, or complete self-satisfaction without any material connection. The first-class devotee of the Lord attains this stage by devotional service, but despite his loftiness, for the Lord’s satisfaction he may play the voluntary part of a preacher of the Lord’s glory and dovetail all into devotional service, even mundane interest, just to give the neophytes a chance to transform mundane interest into transcendental bliss. (THIS IS SRILA PRABHUPADA) Śrīla Rūpa Gosvāmī has described this action of a pure devotee as nirbandhaḥ kṛṣṇa-sambandhe yuktaṁ vairāgyam ucyate. Even mundane activities dovetailed with service to the Lord are also calculated to be transcendental or approved kaivalya affairs.

If you develop that taste for hearing about Krsna everyday.. If you begin to imbibe..

You will become blissful.. And even though you lose all interest in material ..

You will teach others how to dovetail everything in the service of Krsna and help them become Krsna Conscious.

SB 2.8.10-13 (Einstein’s theory of God) Notes – 11/19/21

KEY TAKEAWAYS FROM HH HARIVILAS MAHARAJ’S MORNING BHAGAVATAM CLASS ON SB 2.8.10-13:

  • Einstein’s concept of God and Religion –
  • “I do not believe in immortality of the individual, and I consider ethics to be an exclusively human concern with no superhuman authority behind it.”[33]
  • “I cannot conceive of a God who rewards and punishes his creatures, or has a will of the type of which we are conscious in ourselves. An individual who should survive his physical death is also beyond my comprehension, nor do I wish it otherwise; such notions are for the fears or absurd egoism of feeble souls. Enough for me the mystery of the eternity of life, and the inkling of the marvellous structure of reality, together with the single-hearted endeavour to comprehend a portion, be it ever so tiny, of the reason that manifests itself in nature.”[34]
  • “I see only with deep regret that God punishes so many of His children for their numerous stupidities, for which only He Himself can be held responsible; in my opinion, only His nonexistence could excuse Him.”[35]
  • “I cannot imagine a God who rewards and punishes the objects of his creation, whose purposes are modeled after our own — a God, in short, who is but a reflection of human frailty. Neither can I believe that the individual survives the death of his body, although feeble souls harbor such thoughts through fear or ridiculous egotisms.”[36]
  • “The man who is thoroughly convinced of the universal operation of the law of causation cannot for a moment entertain the idea of a being who interferes in the course of events — that is, if he takes the hypothesis of causality really seriously. He has no use for the religion of fear and equally little for social or moral religion. A God who rewards and punishes is inconceivable to him for the simple reason that a man’s actions are determined by necessity, external and internal, so that in God’s eyes he cannot be responsible, any more than an inanimate object is responsible for the motions it goes through.”[37]
  • In this class Maharaj methodically refutes all the statements and beliefs of Einstein with Scriptiral evidence.

SB 2.8.10 TRANSLATION:

Please also explain the Personality of Godhead, who lies in every heart as the Supersoul, and as the Lord of all energies, but is untouched by His external energy.

Undoubtedly the form of the Lord who was seen by Brahmā must be transcendental; otherwise how could He simply look upon the creative energy without being touched? It is understood also that the same puruṣa lies in the heart of every living entity. This also requires proper explanation.

SB 2.8.11 – Actual position of different planetary systems

O learned brāhmaṇa, it was formerly explained that all the planets of the universe with their respective governors are situated in the different parts of the gigantic body of the virāṭ-puruṣa. I have also heard that the different planetary systems are supposed to be in the gigantic body of the virāṭ-puruṣa. But what is their actual position? Will you please explain that?

SB 2.8.12 – Question on Time – Past, present & future

Also please explain the duration of time between creation and annihilation, and that of other subsidiary creations, as well as the nature of time, indicated by the sound of past, present and future. Also, please explain the duration and measurement of life of the different living beings known as the demigods, the human beings, etc., in different planets of the universe.

Past, present and future are different features of time to indicate the duration of life for the universe and all its paraphernalia, including the different living beings in different planets.

SB 2.8.13 – Question on Time

O purest of the brāhmaṇas, please also explain the cause of the different durations of time, both short and long, as well as the beginning of time, following the course of action

SB 2.8.14 – Question on reactions from modes (karma)

These verses are very pertinent to Einstein. He was trying to figure out –

  1. Who God is
  2. What is philosophy
  3. What is science
  4. How the universe works

He figured out a few little things.. He admits also..

Faraday – discovered laws of electricity, electromagnetic energy, everybody doubted him, he was a normal clerk who has a fascination for science.

He discovered electromagnetic energy

Maxwell – was brilliant, he had the mathematical formula for the Faraday’s laws,

Then comes Tesla, Jagadish Chandra Bose..

What were Einstein’s big things – he was fascinated by light.. Light energy is just more than light and heat and more things going on. Light is not exactly a wave.. It was made of individual atoms of light..

E = mc2

Energy was transformed into matter and matter into energy..

Ofcourse light is the reflection of Brahma Jyothi.. But he did not believe in God.

Newton and Einstein came to the same conclusion – Whatever they discovered is only scratch on the surface..

Einstein’s theory and Newton’s theory were incomplete. They faced obstacles and could not move forward in their discoveries. They know their limitations. They could not go beyond a certain point.

  1. Einsteins disbelief in personal God
  2. Acceptance of Spinoza’s impersonal pantheistic God.
  3. Absolute aw for the organization of nature

Einstein’s Quote –

The human mind is not capable of grasping the Universe. We are like a little child entering a huge library. The walls are covered to the ceilings with books in many different tongues. The child knows that someone must have written these books. It does not know who or how. It does not understand the languages in which they are written. But the child notes a definite plan in the arrangement of the books – a mysterious order which it does not comprehend, but only dimly suspects.

The human mind, no matter how highly trained, cannot grasp the universe. … We see a universe marvelously arranged, obeying certain laws, but we understand the laws only dimly. Our limited minds cannot grasp the mysterious force that sways the constellations. I am fascinated by Spinoza’s Pantheism.

Einstein’s theory on AfterLife –

I do not believe in immortality of the individual, and I consider ethics to be an exclusively human concern with no superhuman authority behind it.

He was entitled the smartest person on this planet.. He took that and started explaining Who God is, After life, … But he has no clue about it.. He was not the smartest,, he was dumbest..

On 17 July 1953 a woman who was a licensed Baptist pastor sent Einstein a letter asking if he had felt assured about attaining everlasting life with the Creator. Einstein replied, “I do not believe in immortality of the individual, and I consider ethics to be an exclusively human concern with no superhuman authority behind it.”[33] This sentiment was also expressed in Einstein’s book The World as I See It (1935), “I cannot conceive of a God who rewards and punishes his creatures, or has a will of the type of which we are conscious in ourselves.

Faraday and Maxwell were smarter than Einstein, they did the research and proved their theories

Einstein and Neil Bohr’s Were enemies.

When quantum theory came into play there was a problem with observation.

Bohr’s thought that – At the bottom of matter something mysterious is going on..

Einstein wanted to prove that everything is governed by laws and wanted to disprove Bohrs.

After 30 years of debate it was found that Bohr was right and Einstein was wrong

Einstein made a lot of mistakes. If was alive he would be denounced by ME TOO

He cheated a lot of women and had multiple relationships..

He cannot inspire anyone about ethics if he himself has no ethics

His false ego does not let him accept – Personal God, life after death..

TWO WAYS OF looking painting –

Recognize the lights and darks, shapes, shades

Recognize a fantastic painter who painted the painting..

For the recognition of work he did he is getting – money, nobel prize, fame, position in Princeton.. Et.c, for the small thing he did.. But he does not even give credit to the God who created this universe..

Einstein was averse to the Abrahamic conception of Heaven and Hell, particularly as it pertained to a system of everlasting reward and punishment. In a 1915 letter to the Swiss physicist Edgar Meyer, Einstein wrote, “I see only with deep regret that God punishes so many of His children for their numerous stupidities, for which only He Himself can be held responsible; in my opinion, only His nonexistence could excuse Him.”[35] He also stated, “I cannot imagine a God who rewards and punishes the objects of his creation, whose purposes are modeled after our own — a God, in short, who is but a reflection of human frailty. Neither can I believe that the individual survives the death of his body, although feeble souls harbor such thoughts through fear or ridiculous egotisms.”[36]

Part of Einstein’s tension with the Abrahamic afterlife was his belief in determinism and his rejection of free will. Einstein stated, “The man who is thoroughly convinced of the universal operation of the law of causation cannot for a moment entertain the idea of a being who interferes in the course of events — that is, if he takes the hypothesis of causality really seriously.

Whenever anyone writes a book – it is to reject something or limit you from going somewhere with your curiosity..

Einstein was part of the cancel culture.. He is not brilliant, He is teaching darkness and ignorance here.

Just because he came up with E-mc2 does not make him an expert on morality, spiritual world, God.. He is usurping the fact that he is the smartest man on the earth and he can talk about all these topics and people believe it..

If we accept – Cause and effect – as law of nature  then we will go into illusion.

Krishna has mutually contradictory qualities you cannot understand with mundane science if you are a determinist like Einstein..

This is what is happening to real scientists, they realize that they are limitations.  But the majority of fake scientists believe and portray that they can do anything.. Bezos wants to open a restaurant, salon in Bezos.. Elon Musk — giong to moon, mars, ..

Cosmic spirituality

In 1930 Einstein published a widely discussed essay in The New York Times Magazine about his beliefs.[37] With the title “Religion and Science,”

Einstein distinguished three human impulses which develop religious belief:

fear,

social or moral concerns, and

cosmic religious feeling.

A primitive understanding of causality causes fear, and the fearful invent supernatural beings analogous to themselves. The desire for love and support create a social and moral need for a supreme being; both these styles have an anthropomorphic concept of God. The third style, which Einstein deemed most mature, originates in a deep sense of awe and mystery. He said, the individual feels “the sublimity and marvelous order which reveal themselves in nature … and he wants to experience the universe as a single significant whole.”

He wanted to create a unified theory.. But he failed.. Krishna is the unified field theory.. Because he did not read SB and did not have a bonafide spiritual world.. He could not understand the unified field theory..

All there scientists they use complex words which baffles people and let them think that they are smart. Making fun of people by using big language.

Einstein saw science as an antagonist of the first two styles of religious belief, but as a partner in the third.[37] He maintained, “even though the realms of religion and science in themselves are clearly marked off from each other” there are “strong reciprocal relationships and dependencies” as aspirations for truth derive from the religious sphere. He continued:

A person who is religiously enlightened appears to me to be one who has, to the best of his ability, liberated himself from the fetters of his selfish desires and is preoccupied with thoughts, feelings and aspirations to which he clings because of their super-personal value. It seems to me that what is important is the force of this superpersonal content … regardless of whether any attempt is made to unite this content with a Divine Being, for otherwise it would not be possible to count Buddha and Spinoza as religious personalities. Accordingly a religious person is devout in the sense that he has no doubt of the significance of those super-personal objects and goals which neither require nor are capable of rational foundation … In this sense religion is the age-old endeavor of mankind to become clearly and completely conscious of these values and goals and constantly to strengthen and extend their effect. If one conceives of religion and science according to these definitions then a conflict between them appears impossible. For science can only ascertain what is, but not what should be…[37]

They state principles.. They create their frame of reference, within that f

An understanding of causality was fundamental to Einstein’s ethical beliefs. In Einstein’s view, “the doctrine of a personal God interfering with natural events could never be refuted, in the real sense, by science,” for religion can always take refuge in areas that science can not yet explain. It was Einstein’s belief that in the “struggle for the ethical good, teachers of religion must have the stature to give up the doctrine of a personal God, that is, give up that source of fear and hope” and cultivate the “Good, the True, and the Beautiful in humanity itself.”[37]

In his 1934 book The World as I See It, Einstein expanded on his religiosity, “A knowledge of the existence of something we cannot penetrate, of the manifestations of the profoundest reason and the most radiant beauty, which are only accessible to our reason in their most elementary forms — it is this knowledge and this emotion that constitute the truly religious attitude; in this sense, and in this alone, I am a deeply religious man.”[38]

In 1936 Einstein received a letter from a young girl in the sixth grade. She had asked him, with the encouragement of her teacher, if scientists pray. Einstein replied in the most elementary way he could:

Scientific research is based on the idea that everything that takes place is determined by laws of nature, and therefore this holds for the actions of people. For this reason, a research scientist will hardly be inclined to believe that events could be influenced by a prayer, i.e. by a wish addressed to a supernatural being. However, it must be admitted that our actual knowledge of these laws is only imperfect and fragmentary, so that, actually, the belief in the existence of basic all-embracing laws in nature also rests on a sort of faith. All the same this faith has been largely justified so far by the success of scientific research. But, on the other hand, everyone who is seriously involved in the pursuit of science becomes convinced that a spirit is manifest in the laws of the universe—a spirit vastly superior to that of man, and one in the face of which we with our modest powers must feel humble. In this way the pursuit of science leads to a religious feeling of a special sort, which is indeed quite different from the religiosity of someone more naive.”[39]

SB 2.8.8 Notes – 11/17/21

KEY TAKEAWAYS FROM HH HARIVILAS MAHARAJ’S MORNING BHAGAVATAM CLASS ON SB 2.8.8:

  • In the creation of the material world the Supreme Lord undoubtedly assumes a gigantic body, and living entities also get bodies, big or small, according to necessity.
  • For example, an elephant gets a gigantic body according to its needs, and so also an ant gets its body according to its needs. Similarly, if the Personality of Godhead assumes a gigantic body to accommodate the universes or the planets of a particular universe, there is no difference in the principle of assuming or accepting a particular type of body in terms of necessity.
  • A living being and the Lord cannot be distinguished simply by the difference in the magnitude of the body.
  • So the answer depends on the specific significance of the body of the Lord, as distinguished from the body of the common living being.
  • The Lord creates and remains aloof from the creation, whereas the living entities are entangled in the fruitive results of material activities because of their propensity for lording it over material resources
  • The person who understands this transcendental nature of the Lord is an experienced man in Kṛṣṇa consciousness, and thus he is never subjected to the laws of karma.
  • “The Supreme Lord is the controller of all other controllers, and He is the greatest of all the diverse planetary leaders. Everyone is under His control
  • He is transcendental to all kinds of material leaders and controllers and is worshipable by all. There is no one greater than Him, and He is the supreme cause of all causes.
  • “He does not possess a bodily form like that of an ordinary living entity. There is no difference between His body and His soul. He is absolute. All His senses are transcendental. Any one of His senses can perform the action of any other sense. Therefore, no one is greater than Him or equal to Him. His potencies are multifarious, and thus His deeds are automatically performed as a natural sequence.”
  • Kṛṣṇa may meditate on Himself because He is the complete whole, but we cannot imitate Him and meditate on ourselves. Our body is a designation superimposed upon our self, the soul. Kṛṣṇa’s body is not a designation: Kṛṣṇa’s body is also Kṛṣṇa. There is no existence of anything foreign in Kṛṣṇa. Whatever there is in Kṛṣṇa is also Kṛṣṇa. He is therefore the supreme, indestructible, complete existence, or the Supreme Truth.
  • Einstein did not believe in a personal god who concerns himself with fates and actions of human beings this is a factual statement from his biography. Furthermore he says god does not punish People or he doesn’t let’s say try and correct people by giving them punishment.
  • Verses which prove that Einstein theory about God is out right false are – BG 4.14, BG 3.22, Krsna Book Chapter 70.

SB 2.8.8 TRANSLATION:

If the Supreme Personality of Godhead, from whose abdomen the lotus stem sprouted, is possessed of a gigantic body according to His own caliber and measurement, then what is the specific difference between the body of the Lord and those of common living entities?

One should note how Mahārāja Parīkṣit intelligently put questions before his spiritual master for scientific understanding of the transcendental body of the Lord. It has been described in many places before this that the Lord assumed a gigantic body, like that of Kāraṇodakaśāyī Viṣṇu, from whose hair pores innumerable universes have generated. The body of Garbhodakaśāyī Viṣṇu is described as sprouting the lotus stem within which all the planets of the universe remain, and at the top of the stem is the lotus flower on which Lord Brahmā is born. In the creation of the material world the Supreme Lord undoubtedly assumes a gigantic body, and living entities also get bodies, big or small, according to necessity. For example, an elephant gets a gigantic body according to its needs, and so also an ant gets its body according to its needs. Similarly, if the Personality of Godhead assumes a gigantic body to accommodate the universes or the planets of a particular universe, there is no difference in the principle of assuming or accepting a particular type of body in terms of necessity. A living being and the Lord cannot be distinguished simply by the difference in the magnitude of the body. So the answer depends on the specific significance of the body of the Lord, as distinguished from the body of the common living being.

Spiritual life is based on questions and answers.

There should be so many questions we need to have about understanding the similarities and differences between the supreme personality of Godhead. We need to ask these

questions because they are relevant because if you don’t understand the scientific knowledge of god and the differences and similarities that we have with god you’ll never

or we will never be able to go back to godhead because we will be making all kinds of mistakes all the time due to this incomplete knowledge just like giving an example in complete knowledge.

Child not knowing will keep fingers in the outlet, falling down the steps, swallowing a penny, choking and dying, opening a window and falling down.. House can be very dangerous for a child if the parents are not vigilant.

Murphy’s law – worst thing that can happen can happen.

You have to make everything idiot proof.

in the same way the mayavadis and the impersonalists they don’t want to ask all these questions they just make assumptions and they negates all these things

But Srila Prabhupada is given the real science of krishna. I mean not prabhupada

exactly he’s translated it. It was given originally by vyasadeva to his son

Sukh Dev Goswami and Sukh Dev Goswami  expanded it and passed it on to Suta goswami and Satis goswami also passed it on to Saunaka rishi and the sages and naima

sha aranya and so and then the passing on has continued through

the disciplic succession of the Vaisnavas so it’s important for us today to to

study carefully the science of krishna

EINSTEIN

now i said that i was going to prove that although einstein is a great, was a great guy let’s say scientists as far as knowledge real knowledge of the universe and real knowledge of god he was an idiot he was dumb he made all kinds of mistakes. Because he though he was smart whatever he said will be accepted as the Gospel of truth. But that is not the case with devotees.

  • Einstein did not believe in a personal god who concerns himself with fates

and actions of human beings this is a factual statement from his biography.

He was an impersonalist, just like Mayavadi. His champion was spinoza, he was another Mayavadi.. He did not believe that God was a person.

Faith and Fate

Minute and Minute

English is very complicated language because it is the mixture of several languages.

French words, Sanskrit words.. German words, Hebrew words, ..

Lets compare to what Krsna says and Einstein says –

BG 4.14

There is no work that affects Me; nor do I aspire for the fruits of action. One who understands this truth about Me also does not become entangled in the fruitive reactions of work.

Does God do something, or does He make the creation and sit back and do nothing?

As there are constitutional laws in the material world stating that the king can do no wrong, or that the king is not subject to the state laws, similarly the Lord, although He is the creator of this material world, is not affected by the activities of the material world. He creates and remains aloof from the creation, whereas the living entities are entangled in the fruitive results of material activities because of their propensity for lording it over material resources. The proprietor of an establishment is not responsible for the right and wrong activities of the workers, but the workers are themselves responsible. The living entities are engaged in their respective activities of sense gratification, and these activities are not ordained by the Lord. For advancement of sense gratification, the living entities are engaged in the work of this world, and they aspire to heavenly happiness after death. The Lord, being full in Himself, has no attraction for so-called heavenly happiness. The heavenly demigods are only His engaged servants. The proprietor never desires the low-grade happiness such as the workers may desire. He is aloof from the material actions and reactions. For example, the rains are not responsible for different types of vegetation that appear on the earth, although without such rains there is no possibility of vegetative growth. Vedic smṛti confirms this fact as follows:

According to this verse – Krishna is not responsible for the acts of the living entities. He gives them body and limited free will. it’s up to them. what

is going to happen to them is based on their previous karma and on the choices

they make it now. So the choices they made in their previous life, that’s their fate, the choices they’re going to make now will be their destiny in the future.

  • furthermore he says god does not punish People or he doesn’t let’s say try and correct people by giving them punishment.

well he’s wrong, he’s flat out wrong.

“In the material creations, the Lord is only the supreme cause. The immediate cause is material nature, by which the cosmic manifestation is made visible.” The created beings are of many varieties, such as the demigods, human beings and lower animals, and all of them are subject to the reactions of their past good or bad activities. The Lord only gives them the proper facilities for such activities and the regulations of the modes of nature, but He is never responsible for their past and present activities. In the Vedānta-sūtra (2.1.34) it is confirmed, vaiṣamya-nairghṛṇye na sāpekṣatvāt: the Lord is never partial to any living entity. The living entity is responsible for his own acts. The Lord only gives him facilities, through the agency of material nature, the external energy. Anyone who is fully conversant with all the intricacies of this law of karma, or fruitive activities, does not become affected by the results of his activities. In other words, the person who understands this transcendental nature of the Lord is an experienced man in Kṛṣṇa consciousness, and thus he is never subjected to the laws of karma. One who does not know the transcendental nature of the Lord and who thinks that the activities of the Lord are aimed at fruitive results, as are the activities of the ordinary living entities, certainly becomes entangled himself in fruitive reactions. But one who knows the Supreme Truth is a liberated soul fixed in Kṛṣṇa consciousness.

When Einstein says he does not believe in personal God, that means –

so when einstein says he doesn’t believe there’s a personal god

that implies many things right there that means that there is no one who made

the laws of material nature but he does accept that nature functions

in a orderly way and he’s overwhelmed by the organization of nature and how it’s functioning and all he’s doing is discovering some few parts of it he hasn’t he never

finished his unified field theory so he had a few understandings of the

way some parts of nature function but he knew one thing that nature is

functioning in an orderly way but he rejects the existence of a supreme god

who’s supremely intelligent he does not have any explanation clear

explanation of why it’s or how it became orderly in its functioning and

he doesn’t accept that people can infringe on let’s say laws

of of nature now he explains certain laws of nature like e

equals m c squared which is uh which means basically that energy can be

transformed into matter and matter can be transformed back into energy

and that implies that there’s a conservation of energy

in other words einstein had no understanding no clear understanding the

law of karma and that god is involved in the fates and the actions of the human beings because without god no one would be able to act no one will be able to do anything you

know the soul the the jiva soul is an emanation from krishna himself

And completely dependent everything is dependent on krishna and krishna is

everything because everything is made from his energy now einstein didn’t understand

any of those points now the second thing

Analogy – Rental Car,.. just like that Krsna gives us the body and gives us limited free will.. It is upto us how we drive the car. If we get drunk and drive the car and hit someone.. Then the rental car company is not responsible for it.

Another verse which proves that Einsten did not understand about God is –

BG 3.22

O son of Pṛthā, there is no work prescribed for Me within all the three planetary systems. Nor am I in want of anything, nor have I a need to obtain anything – and yet I am engaged in prescribed duties.

“The Supreme Lord is the controller of all other controllers, and He is the greatest of all the diverse planetary leaders. Everyone is under His control. All entities are delegated with particular power only by the Supreme Lord; they are not supreme themselves. He is also worshipable by all demigods and is the supreme director of all directors. Therefore, He is transcendental to all kinds of material leaders and controllers and is worshipable by all. There is no one greater than Him, and He is the supreme cause of all causes.

“He does not possess a bodily form like that of an ordinary living entity. There is no difference between His body and His soul. He is absolute. All His senses are transcendental. Any one of His senses can perform the action of any other sense. Therefore, no one is greater than Him or equal to Him. His potencies are multifarious, and thus His deeds are automatically performed as a natural sequence.” (Śvetāśvatara Upaniṣad 6.7–8)

Since everything is in full opulence in the Personality of Godhead and is existing in full truth, there is no duty for the Supreme Personality of Godhead to perform. One who must receive the results of work has some designated duty, but one who has nothing to achieve within the three planetary systems certainly has no duty. And yet Lord Kṛṣṇa is engaged on the Battlefield of Kurukṣetra as the leader of the kṣatriyas because the kṣatriyas are duty-bound to give protection to the distressed. Although He is above all the regulations of the revealed scriptures, He does not do anything that violates the revealed scriptures.

so how can einstein know what is right and wrong when he doesn’t even

accept that god is a person you see and and not only he’s a person he’s unique

so we’re going to hear now how unique he is in the 70th chapter of the krishna book

which is entitled krsna’s daily activities

KRSNA BOOK – Chapter 70

After rising from bed, Lord Kṛṣṇa would wash His mouth, hands and feet and would immediately sit down and meditate on Himself. This does not mean, however, that we should also sit down and meditate on ourselves. We have to meditate upon Kṛṣṇa, Rādhā-Kṛṣṇa. That is real meditation. Kṛṣṇa is Kṛṣṇa Himself; therefore He was teaching us that brāhma-muhūrta should be utilized for meditation on Rādhā-Kṛṣṇa. By such meditation Kṛṣṇa would feel very much satisfied, and similarly we will also feel transcendentally pleased and satisfied if we utilize the brāhma-muhūrta period to meditate on Rādhā and Kṛṣṇa and if we think of how Śrī Rukmiṇī-devī and Kṛṣṇa acted as ideal householders to teach the whole human society to rise early in the morning and immediately engage in Kṛṣṇa consciousness.

The bodily limitation whereby one part of the body cannot act as another part is totally absent from the Supreme Personality of Godhead. There is no difference between His body and Himself. He is completely spiritual, and therefore there is no difference between His body and His soul. Similarly, He is not different from His millions of incarnations and plenary expansions. Baladeva is the first expansion of Kṛṣṇa, and from Baladeva expand Saṅkarṣaṇa, Vāsudeva, Pradyumna and Aniruddha. From Saṅkarṣaṇa there is an expansion of Nārāyaṇa, and from Nārāyaṇa there is a second quadruple expansion of Saṅkarṣaṇa, Vāsudeva, Pradyumna and Aniruddha. Similarly, there are innumerable other expansions of Kṛṣṇa, but all of them are one. Kṛṣṇa has many incarnations, such as Lord Nṛsiṁha, Lord Boar, Lord Fish and Lord Tortoise, but there is no difference between Kṛṣṇa’s original two-handed form, like that of a human being, and these incarnations of gigantic animal forms. Nor is there any difference between the action of one part of His body and that of another. His hands can act as His legs, His eyes can act as His ears, or His nose can act as another part of His body. Kṛṣṇa’s smelling and eating and hearing are all the same. We limited living entities have to use a particular part of the body for a particular purpose, but there is no such distinction for Kṛṣṇa. In the Brahma-saṁhitā it is said, aṅgāni yasya sakalendriya-vṛtti-manti: Kṛṣṇa can perform the activities of one limb with any other limb. So by analytical study of Kṛṣṇa and His person, it is concluded that He is the complete whole. When He meditates, therefore, He meditates on Himself. Self-meditation by ordinary men, designated in Sanskrit as so ’ham, is simply imitation. Kṛṣṇa may meditate on Himself because He is the complete whole, but we cannot imitate Him and meditate on ourselves.

SB 2.8.7 Notes -11/16/21

KEY TAKEAWAYS FROM HH HARIVILAS MAHARAJ’S MORNING BHAGAVATAM CLASS ON SB 2.8.7:

  • Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam is the science of the Supreme Personality of Godhead, and as such, all questions that may arise in the mind of a serious student must be cleared by the statements of the authority.
  • A person on the path of devotional service may inquire from his spiritual master all about the spiritual position of God and the living beings.
  • In the process of devotional service, the first step is to take shelter of the spiritual master and then inquire from the spiritual master all about the process. This inquiry is essential for immunity to all kinds of offenses on the path of devotional service.
  • The spiritual master must also be well versed and learned so that he may be able to answer all these inquiries from the devotees.
  • One who is not well versed in the authorized scriptures and not able to answer all such relevant inquiries should not pose as a spiritual master for the matter of material gain. It is illegal to become a spiritual master if one is unable to deliver the disciple.
  • Nitya-siddha means one who has no chance to forget Kṛṣṇa.
  • Sādhana-siddha means one has forgotten Kṛṣṇa. That is the position of all materialistic men. Every one of us, forgotten. But even though forgotten, the thing is there. It has to be awakened only. And the awakening process is hearing.
  • Anyone who has forgotten Kṛṣṇa somehow or other—the cause may be so many—but if he is given chance to hear about Kṛṣṇa… Śṛṇvatāṁ sva-kathāḥ kṛṣṇaḥ. As soon as somehow or other one begins to hear about Kṛṣṇa… Either by his natural inclination or by chance or any way, he comes to hear about Kṛṣṇa, attempts hearing about Kṛṣṇa, then, Kṛṣṇa is within everyone’s heart, Paramātmā, so Kṛṣṇa helps him immediately.
  • Bhajana means serving the Lord. So bhajatām, one who is engaged always, twenty-four hours he’s engaged, in that stage, Kṛṣṇa becomes is very pleased upon you = “No, now he has taken to My service. He’s engaged twenty-four hours. All right, let him give some instruction.”
  • So Kṛṣṇa is within you.One profit is, by hearing about Kṛṣṇa, he becomes gradually sinless, simply by hearing. Unless we are sinful, we don’t come into the material world.
  • So we have to become sinless before going back to home, back to Godhead. Because God is pure; the kingdom is pure. No impure living entity can enter there. So one has to become pure.
  • So this Kṛṣṇa consciousness movement is that once he’s given chance to erase all the sinful activities and keeping himself intact—no illicit sex, no intoxication, no meat-eating, no gambling—if we follow this regulation, then after initiation all my sins are washed off. And if I keep myself in that washed-off position, then where is the question of becoming sinful again?
  • Once washed off, now keep yourself in that washed-off condition. That is required.
So that will be possible if you keep yourself constantly in touch with Kṛṣṇa by hearing about Him. That’s all. You have to remain uncontaminated.
  • When one comes to the understanding that “I am eternal servant of Kṛṣṇa, God, and my only business is to serve Him,” that is called mukti.
  • When we become engaged in Kṛṣṇa consciousness, this sense gratification business ceases. That is the test how you are becoming advanced in Kṛṣṇa consciousness.
  • The chanting of Hare Kṛṣṇa mantra is the business of liberated soul, not for the conditioned soul. But even in our conditioned life we chant, we become gradually purified. Therefore it is recommended that everyone should chant.
  • Chanting the holy name of the medicine for the Bhava – Roga (means again and again taking birth) – cycle of birth and death. But the medicine is very pleasing.
  • It is very easy, even children can take up chanting of the holy name of the lord.
  • it is pleasing, even to the ordinary man..
  • For philosophers it is also pleasing
  • So either one is killing himself or killing animals, such a person cannot understand about the glories of the Lord.
  • BG 9.30, 31. 32  are the dispensation verses given by Krsna. These verses show how kind Krsna is, how merciful He is..
  • No one should take advantage of these verses and commit nonsense and think that he is still a devotee. If he does not improve in his character by devotional service, then it is to be understood that he is not a high devotee.
  • We should not overestimate our achievements in life, we should always be humble and meek.
  • The only qualification of a devotee is to be unflinchingly and exclusively engaged in devotional service.
  • Everyone is eligible for the supreme destination
  • Devotional service and the guidance of a pure devotee are so strong that there is no discrimination between the lower and higher classes of men; anyone can take to it. The most simple man taking shelter of the pure devotee can be purified by proper guidance.

SB 2.8.7 TRANSLATION:

O learned brāhmaṇa, the transcendental spirit soul is different from the material body. Does he acquire the body accidentally or by some cause? Will you kindly explain this, for it is known to you.

Mahārāja Parīkṣit, being a typical devotee, is not only satisfied by confirming the importance of hearing the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam from the representative of Brahmājī by disciplic succession, but he is still more anxious to establish the philosophical basis of Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam. Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam is the science of the Supreme Personality of Godhead, and as such, all questions that may arise in the mind of a serious student must be cleared by the statements of the authority. A person on the path of devotional service may inquire from his spiritual master all about the spiritual position of God and the living beings. From the Bhagavad-gītā, as well as from the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam, it is known that qualitatively the Lord and the living beings are one. The living being in the conditioned state of material existence is subjected to many transmigrations by continuous changing of the material body. But what are the causes of the material embodiment of the part and parcel of the Lord? Mahārāja Parīkṣit inquires about this very important matter for the benefit of all classes of candidates on the path of self-realization and devotional service to the Lord.

Indirectly it is confirmed that the Supreme Being, the Lord, makes no such material changes of body. He is spiritually whole, with no difference between His body and His soul, unlike the conditioned soul. The liberated living beings, who associate with the Lord in person, are also exactly like the Lord. Only the conditioned souls awaiting liberation are subjected to change of bodies. How was the process first begun?

In the process of devotional service, the first step is to take shelter of the spiritual master and then inquire from the spiritual master all about the process. This inquiry is essential for immunity to all kinds of offenses on the path of devotional service. Even if one is fixed in devotional service like Mahārāja Parīkṣit, he must still inquire from the realized spiritual master all about this. In other words, the spiritual master must also be well versed and learned so that he may be able to answer all these inquiries from the devotees. Thus one who is not well versed in the authorized scriptures and not able to answer all such relevant inquiries should not pose as a spiritual master for the matter of material gain. It is illegal to become a spiritual master if one is unable to deliver the disciple.

This is very interesting.

Someone asked – Prabhu is it really necessary to only read the bhagavatam? There are

so many other books there’s a mana shiksha and there’s nectar of devotions nectar of instruction and other devotees books? What is the story here? The story here is the sages of naimisharanya discussed  for 1000’s of years  what is the best for the people in Kali yuga and came to the conclusion that Regular hearing SB is the best way. We are not saying that anything is wrong with the other books.

SB  is the panacea (all encompassing cure for sense gratification, illusion, misery) for all the people of kali yuga.. We are going to hear SB till the last day.

LA June 1st 1972 (https://vedabase.io/en/library/transcripts/720601sbla)

Prabhupāda: So this is the difference between sādhana-siddha and nitya-siddha.

So nitya-siddha means he has no chance to forget Kṛṣṇa. That is called nitya-siddha. And sādhana-siddha means by following the regulative principles, the rules and regulations, one revives his Kṛṣṇa consciousness. Both things are siddha, because you cannot revive Kṛṣṇa consciousness without being Kṛṣṇa conscious. It may be covered. So nitya-siddha means he does not get covered by the influence of material nature about his natural devotion tendency to serve Kṛṣṇa. He never becomes covered. This is the difference. Kṛṣṇa gives him chance to get birth in such a family, just like Parīkṣit Mahārāja, that he never gets the chance of forgetting Kṛṣṇa. So one who does not get the chance of forgetting Kṛṣṇa is called nitya-siddha. This is the difference.

And sādhana-siddha means one has forgotten Kṛṣṇa. That is the position of all materialistic men. Every one of us, forgotten. But even though forgotten, the thing is there. It has to be awakened only. And the awakening process is hearing.

This is also explained in Bg 13th chapter –

BG 13.26

Again there are those who, although not conversant in spiritual knowledge, begin to worship the Supreme Person upon hearing about Him from others. Because of their tendency to hear from authorities, they also transcend the path of birth and death.

Just like you are out of your family touch for many years. Practically you have forgotten. Now, if somebody comes to you, some friend, “Do you remember your child, when he came out, he was such little, and now he is grown-up? Now he’s this, that, so on,” if for some days this topics of the family is…, then again he becomes attracted = “Let me go and see.” It is natural.

Similarly, anyone who has forgotten Kṛṣṇa somehow or other—the cause may be so many—but if he is given chance to hear about Kṛṣṇa… Śṛṇvatāṁ sva-kathāḥ kṛṣṇaḥ.

Kṛṣṇa helps both ways. If you want to forget Kṛṣṇa, Kṛṣṇa will help you in that way, so that you will be able to forget Kṛṣṇa. Similarly, if you want to revive your lost relationship with Kṛṣṇa again, Kṛṣṇa will help you.

These things are stated in the Bhagavad-gītā. Teṣāṁ nityābhiyuktānām. Teṣāṁ satata-yuktānāṁ bhajatāṁ prīti-pūrvakam [Bg. 10.10]. One who is engaged twenty-four hours in rendering service to the Lord with faith and devotion, bhajatām… Bhajatām, this word is used. Bhaja, sevā, service. Bhaja sevayā. Every verbal root has got particular meaning. When this bhajatām, bhajana… Just we call bhajana. Bhajana means serving the Lord. So bhajatām, one who is engaged always, teṣāṁ nitya, satata-yuktānām, twenty-four hours he’s engaged, in that stage, Kṛṣṇa is become…, Kṛṣṇa is very pleased upon you = “No, now he has taken to My service. He’s engaged twenty-four hours. All right, let him give some instruction.”

So Kṛṣṇa is within you. So śṛṇvatāṁ sva-kathāḥ kṛṣṇaḥ puṇya-śravaṇa-kīrtanaḥ [SB 1.2.17]. One profit is, by hearing about Kṛṣṇa, he becomes gradually sinless, simply by hearing. Unless we are sinful, we don’t come into the material world. So we have to become sinless before going back to home, back to Godhead. Because kingdom of God… God is pure; the kingdom is pure. No impure living entity can enter there. So one has to become pure. That is also stated in the Bhagavad-gītā, yeṣām anta-gataṁ pāpam. “One who has completely been freed from all sinful reaction of his life,” yeṣāṁ anta-gataṁ pāpaṁ janānāṁ puṇya-karmaṇām, “and always engaged in pious activities, no more sinful activities.”

So this Kṛṣṇa consciousness movement is that once he’s given chance to erase all the sinful activities and keeping himself intact—no illicit sex, no intoxication, no meat-eating, no gambling—if we follow this regulation, then after initiation all my sins are washed off. And if I keep myself in that washed-off position, then where is the question of becoming sinful again? But once washed-off… You take your bath and again take the dust and throw on your body—that process will not help. If you say, “I’ll take again wash and again throw,” then what is the use of washing? Wash off. Once washed off, now keep yourself in that washed-off condition. That is required.

So that will be possible if you keep yourself constantly in touch with Kṛṣṇa by hearing about Him. That’s all. You have to remain uncontaminated. And that is puṇya-śravaṇa-kīrtanaḥ. If you hear about Kṛṣṇa, then puṇya, you will be always in pious position. Puṇya-śravaṇa-kīrtanaḥ. Either you chant or… Therefore our recommendation is always chant Hare Kṛṣṇa, Hare Kṛṣṇa, Kṛṣṇa Kṛṣṇa, Hare Hare/ Hare Rāma, Hare Rāma, Rāma Rāma, Hare Hare. So we should be careful about our slipping down again into the sinful activities, and everyone should be careful and keep oneself in the chanting process. Then he’s all right.

And gradually, as you go on hearing about Kṛṣṇa, the all the dirty things within the heart will be cleansed. The dirty things are that “I am a material body.” “I am American,” “I am Indian,” “I am Hindu,” “I am Muslim,” “I am this,” “I am that.” These are all different types of covering of the soul. The uncovered soul is fully conscious that “I am eternal servant of God.” That’s all. One has no other identification. That is called mukti. When one comes to the understanding that “I am eternal servant of Kṛṣṇa, God, and my only business is to serve Him,” that is called mukti.

Mukti does not mean that you will have another two hands, another two legs. No. The same thing, simply it is cleansed. Just like a man is suffering from fever. The symptoms are so many, but as soon as the fever is not there, then all the symptoms gone. So our this fever in this material world is sense gratification. Sense gratification. This is the fever. So when we become engaged in Kṛṣṇa consciousness, this sense gratification business ceases. That is the difference. That is the test how you are becoming advanced in Kṛṣṇa consciousness. Bhaktiḥ pareśānubhavo viraktir anyatra syāt [SB 11.2.42]. That is the test.

So… Because this disease is called bhava-roga… Bhava-roga means again and again taking birth. Bhava-roga. But if we take the medicine, bhavauṣadhi… Everything is there in the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam. Bhava-roga, the disease of repeated birth and death in the material world, and the chanting of Hare Kṛṣṇa mantra is bhavauṣadhi, the medicine to cure this bhava-roga. Bhavauṣadhāc chrotra-mano-‘bhirāmāt, ka uttamaśloka-guṇānuvādāt virajyeta pumān vinā paśughnāt [SB 10.1.4]. Nivṛtta-tarṣair upagīyamānāt. There are very nice verses in Bhāgavatam. Nivṛtta-tarṣair upagīyamānāt. This chanting of the holy name of Kṛṣṇa, or God, is possible by a person who is disgusted with all these material activities. They can actually chant. That means mukta-puruṣa, liberated soul. It is… The chanting of Hare Kṛṣṇa mantra is the business of liberated soul, not for the conditioned soul. But even in our conditioned life we chant, we become gradually purified. Therefore it is recommended that everyone should chant.

Never mind, nama oṁ apavitraḥ pavitro vā yaḥ smaret puṇḍarīkākṣam. Anyone who remembers the Puṇḍarīkākṣa… By chanting, you’ll remember. So nivṛtta-tarṣair upagīyamānād bhavauṣadhi. It is the medicine for our this bhava-roga, repeated birth and death. Such a nice thing. Nivṛtta-tarṣair upagīyamānād bhavauṣadhi chrotra-mano-‘bhirāmāt. Not only it is medicine… Medicine is always bitter. But it is not bitter. Mano ‘bhirāmāt: it is very pleasing to the mind, to the senses. Otherwise, how we become ecstatic in chanting unless it is pleasing? It is medicine, but pleasing medicine. Other medicines, they are very bitter. If you practice yoga, oh, you have to take so much labor. And that, you do not know whether you’ll be successful or not, haṭha-yoga. And if you take to jñāna, that also requires much education, much understanding of philosophy.

So they actually, although they are medicine, but they are bitter medicine. Not very palatable. Neither everyone can take it. A child cannot become a jñānī. A child cannot become a yogī. But a child can become a bhakta. Therefore this is the easiest process. Pleasing. Everyone is pleased to execute this process. Nivṛtta-tarṣair upagīyamānād bhavauṣadhi chrotra-mano-‘bhirāmāt [SB 10.1.4]. Mano-‘bhirāmāt. Even for ordinary men who wants to hear about conjugal love… They read therefore so many novel, fiction, dramas. What is that? The love affairs between one young man, one young girl. But that is also there, Kṛṣṇa, Rādhā-Kṛṣṇa. In that sense also, it is pleasing, even to the ordinary man.

So, mano ‘bhirāmāt, it is very pleasing. Nivṛtta-tarṣaiḥ… For philosophers it is also pleasing. We are talking all of philosophy in Bhāgavata. Nivṛtta-tarṣair upagīyamānād bhavauṣadhi chrotra-mano-‘bhirāmāt. Ka uttamaśloka-guṇānuvādāt. Uttamaśloka is Kṛṣṇa, who is worshiped by offering nice, selected ślokas, authorized. Just like we offer prayer, cintāmaṇi-prakara-sadmasu kalpa-vṛkṣa… [Bs. 5.29]. Each line is full of poetry, poetic and literary character, grammar. Anything you take, they’re all full. All Bhāgavata, all Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam. You cannot produce such literature in this days, such meaningful. Because Vyāsadeva was incarnation, he could produce. Therefore it is uttamaśloka: by the best selected verses, Kṛṣṇa is described.

So who can be away from such activities, to hear about Uttamaśloka through nice verses, philosophy? Who can be bereft? Vinā paśughnāt [SB 10.1.4] = only the animal-hunter or the animal-killer. The animal-killer cannot understand. Therefore it is prohibited = no meat-eating, no flesh-eating. This is the greatest disqualification for understanding. One cannot understand. The animal-killer cannot understand. Therefore it has to be stopped. Vinā paśughnāt. Paśughnāt means… Ghna means killer, and paśu means animal. And another meaning is, paśu means oneself, living entity—ghna. So either one is killing himself or killing animals, such person cannot understand about the glories of the Lord. It is not possible. Parīkṣit Mahārāja said that, ka uttamaśloka-guṇānuvādāt virajyeta vinā paśughnāt. Only the animal-killer.

So, have kīrtana.

SB 2.1.5

tasmād bhārata sarvātmā

bhagavān īśvaro hariḥ

śrotavyaḥ kīrtitavyaś ca

smartavyaś cecchatābhayam

O descendant of King Bharata, one who desires to be free from all miseries must hear about, glorify and also remember the Personality of Godhead, who is the Supersoul, the controller and the savior from all miseries.

Only books about Krsna – BG & SB, transcendental pastimes of Krsna and His devotees.

Help people understand – Krishna gives special dispensation. (Exemption of the rule, giving a loop hole)

Krishna has given Hari naam sankirtan..

If you want victory in this age – just chant Hare Krsna maha mantra..

Greatest quality of Kali Yuga.. just by chanting sincerely you can go back to Godhead..

  • Even thinking good you get the result
  • Even if you think bad there is no affect, until you act bad
  • Even if you do not get initiated and chant the holy name you get delivered. The holy name is so powerful..  Not to say that you should not get initiated.. we’re all coming from low backgrounds

Krsna is giving dispensation so that his devotees can go back to Him easily. But if one does not hear SB regularly, he does not even want to go back to Him.

These 4 verses – Krishna is giving the dispensations – loop holes

BG 9.30

shows how kind Krsna is

Even if one falls down if he is engages in DS he is

Even if one commits the most abominable action, if he is engaged in devotional service he is to be considered saintly because he is properly situated in his determination.

One should not misuse this dispensation. Three strikes and you are out. NOT premeditated fall down, but only accidental fall downs..

On the other hand, one should not misunderstand that a devotee in transcendental devotional service can act in all kinds of abominable ways; this verse only refers to an accident due to the strong power of material connections. Devotional service is more or less a declaration of war against the illusory energy. As long as one is not strong enough to fight the illusory energy, there may be accidental falldowns. But when one is strong enough, he is no longer subjected to such falldowns, as previously explained. No one should take advantage of this verse and commit nonsense and think that he is still a devotee. If he does not improve in his character by devotional service, then it is to be understood that he is not a high devotee.

Example – Devotee who smoked marijuna to preach.. In Amsterdam..

Material energy is very powerful.

One devotee who was always reading SP books.. Went to a mayavadi philosopher class and he converted to mayavadi philosophy.. Blown away by their quoting of BG verses..

We should not overestimate our achievements in life we should always be

humble and meek.

And but preach yes we should preach but not think that we can conquer the whole

World – first we have to conquer our desire to have sense gratification that could take

a very very long time and once you do conquer that then still you would not go to places where people are openly violating the four regulative principles because

just witnessing such a thing makes you fallen already.

Example – One devotee murdered another devotee. He was caught and was convicted and has been in jail for 40 years.. But he is a devotee, he is chanting nicely.. He is preaching nicely.. He got the just punishment he can never get out of Jail.. there is no reason to criticize him.

Therefore a person who is situated in Kṛṣṇa consciousness and is engaged with determination in the process of chanting Hare Kṛṣṇa, Hare Kṛṣṇa, Kṛṣṇa Kṛṣṇa, Hare Hare/ Hare Rāma, Hare Rāma, Rāma Rāma, Hare Hare should be considered to be in the transcendental position, even if by chance or accident he is found to have fallen. The words sādhur eva, “he is saintly,” are very emphatic. They are a warning to the nondevotees that because of an accidental falldown a devotee should not be derided; he should still be considered saintly even if he has accidentally fallen down. And the word mantavyaḥ is still more emphatic. If one does not follow this rule, and derides a devotee for his accidental falldown, then one is disobeying the order of the Supreme Lord. The only qualification of a devotee is to be unflinchingly and exclusively engaged in devotional service.

BG 9.31

Even if a devotee accidentally falls he will quickly become righteous due to the cleansing process..

He quickly becomes righteous and attains lasting peace. O son of Kuntī, declare it boldly that My devotee never perishes.

This should not be misunderstood. In the Seventh Chapter the Lord says that one who is engaged in mischievous activities cannot become a devotee of the Lord. One who is not a devotee of the Lord has no good qualifications whatsoever. The question remains, then, How can a person engaged in abominable activities – either by accident or by intention – be a pure devotee? This question may justly be raised. The miscreants, as stated in the Seventh Chapter, who never come to the devotional service of the Lord, have no good qualifications, as is stated in the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam. Generally, a devotee who is engaged in the nine kinds of devotional activities is engaged in the process of cleansing all material contamination from the heart. He puts the Supreme Personality of Godhead within his heart, and all sinful contaminations are naturally washed away. Continuous thinking of the Supreme Lord makes him pure by nature. According to the Vedas, there is a certain regulation that if one falls down from his exalted position he has to undergo certain ritualistic processes to purify himself. But here there is no such condition, because the purifying process is already there in the heart of the devotee, due to his remembering the Supreme Personality of Godhead constantly. Therefore, the chanting of Hare Kṛṣṇa, Hare Kṛṣṇa, Kṛṣṇa Kṛṣṇa, Hare Hare/ Hare Rāma, Hare Rāma, Rāma Rāma, Hare Hare should be continued without stoppage. This will protect a devotee from all accidental falldowns. He will thus remain perpetually free from all material contaminations.

i can show you where prabhupada says even if one is committing offenses one

should not stop chanting but one should correct the offenses by getting help

from a senior devotee and continue chanting under no circumstances so one give up chanting but they should get help to chant purely

BG 9.32

Everyone is eligible for the supreme destination

O son of Pṛthā, those who take shelter in Me, though they be of lower birth – women, vaiśyas [merchants] and śūdras [workers] – can attain the supreme destination.

Everyone is eligible for the supreme destination. In the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam (2.4.18) it is stated that even the lowest, who are called caṇḍālas (dog-eaters), can be purified by association with a pure devotee. Therefore devotional service and the guidance of a pure devotee are so strong that there is no discrimination between the lower and higher classes of men; anyone can take to it. The most simple man taking shelter of the pure devotee can be purified by proper guidance.

so here’s a formula for success for all types of people people who are following

krishna consciousness people who were following but fell down and human

people who are not following if you simply become humble and take instruction and what is that instruction –  it’s hearing srimad-bhagavatam every day from genuine devotee or devotees and then of course = “engage your mind always in thinking of Me become My devotee offer obeisances to unto Me and worship me being completely absorbed in me surely you will come to me”

if we just stick to the four regulative principles you’ll never have a problem if you rationalize well this is for preaching just like there was one sannyasi in ISKCON whenever he would see someone who could become his disciple he would give him a picture of his feet a photo of his feet put this on the altar and worshiped it you know so there was one girl that was doing that and she said maharaj i’ve been worshiping your feet every day it’s so wonderful it’s giving me so much spiritual advancement but i would like to actually massage your feet you know because i’m meditating on them all so he said okay so eventually he fell down how can a sanyasi accept that a girl can massage his feet?  but it was the feet first then the ankle this is all crazy stuff right by the way why is he giving a picture of his feet you know well is that going to help the girl you know it’s better she meditated on Srila Prabhupad right anyway here we see how one thing leads to another thing leads to another thing eventually they fall down so we should not play games with maya maya is stronger than us we just stick to the regulative principles and chanting hare krishna and hearing regularly and doing service then there won’t be any problem. That he overestimated

That devotee who smoked marijuna –  he overestimated his abilities

yeah he figured he was puffed up because he always chanting chanting  Hare Krsna everybody’s face all the time right you say something  like that he wouldn’t even answer you this is uh dangerous oh my god that’s called being puffed up now we should always be lower than the straw on the street then we won’t have a problem of what everybody has that krsna’s in the heart and we’re all originally with krishna go ahead Yes no they never fall down well they they come here because krsna sends them to spread krishna consciousness, the nithya siddhas have never fallen Down but sometimes one can be sent here to do special preaching to help those fallen Souls like arjuna arjuna never goes back to godhead it’s always in a material world with krishna preaching and teaching others how to be Krsna Conscious so some people they’re always liberated in the material world and some people Are liberating the spiritual world arjun is a very special devotee so anytime krishna appears anywhere in the material world he’s with him okay good.

SB 2.8.6 Notes – 11/15/21

KEY TAKEAWAYS FROM HH HARIVILAS MAHARAJ’S MORNING BHAGAVATAM CLASS ON SB 2.8.6:

  • One who is not a pure devotee of the Supreme Lord Kṛṣṇa is not completely cleansed in the heart.

  • A pure devotee of the Lord is exactly in a family tie with the Lord, and therefore he is undeterred in discharging his duty in a full affectionate tie with the Lord

SB 2.8.6 TRANSLATION:

A pure devotee of the Lord whose heart has once been cleansed by the process of devotional service never relinquishes the lotus feet of Lord Kṛṣṇa, for they fully satisfy him, as a traveler is satisfied at home after a troubled journey.

One who is not a pure devotee of the Supreme Lord Kṛṣṇa is not completely cleansed in the heart. But a perfectly cleansed person never quits the devotional service of the Lord. In discharging such devotional service, as ordered by Brahmājī to Nārada in the preaching of Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam, sometimes a representative of the Lord engaged in preaching work meets various so-called difficulties. This was exhibited by Lord Nityānanda when He delivered the two fallen souls Jagāi and Mādhāi, and similarly Lord Jesus Christ was crucified by the nonbelievers. But such difficulties are very gladly suffered by the devotees in preaching because in such activities, although apparently very severe, the devotees of the Lord feel transcendental pleasure because the Lord is satisfied. Prahlāda Mahārāja suffered greatly, but still he never forgot the lotus feet of the Lord. This is because a pure devotee of the Lord is so purified in his heart that he cannot leave the shelter of Lord Kṛṣṇa in any circumstances. There is no self-interest in such service. The progress of culturing knowledge by the jñānīs or the bodily gymnastics by the yogīs are ultimately given up by the respective performers, but a devotee of the Lord cannot give up the service of the Lord, for he is ordered by his spiritual master.

Science of Krsna – engaging in bhakti yoga full time.

Devotees are always engaged in pleasing Krsna.. He cultivates the  knowledge of science of Krsna

Culturing knowledge for pratishtha, center of attraction,

Major difference is culturing knowledge in KC leads to constant engagement in devotional service..

Everything depends on the motive..

Pure devotees like Nārada and Nityānanda Prabhu take up the order of the spiritual master as the sustenance of life. They do not mind what becomes of the future of their lives. They take the matter very seriously, as the order comes from the higher authority, from the representative of the Lord, or from the Lord Himself.

Everyone is worried about their future.. But the devotee is not.. Major difference between person who is deluded by the dualities and who is culturing knowledge for pratishta and the devotee who is culturing knowledge of Krsna to always engage in devotional service to please Krsna and guru.

YOu cannot play games with Prabhupada’s and Krsna’s movement of ISKCON. ISKCON is not mine or somebody else’s this is Prabhupada and Krsna’s movement. This is a divine movement it has nothing to do with material world. If you read Prabhupada’s books, letters,, it is the direct desire of Lord Caitanya Maha prabhu and Lord Krsna. Anyone who is a leader in the movement does not follow the regulations properly .. they will eventually fall down..

The example set herein is very appropriate. A traveler leaves home to search for wealth in far distant places, sometimes in the forest and sometimes on the ocean and sometimes on hilltops. Certainly there are many troubles for the traveler when he is in such unknown places. But all such troubles are at once mitigated as soon as the sense of his family affection is remembered, and as soon as he returns home he forgets all such troubles on the way.

A pure devotee of the Lord is exactly in a family tie with the Lord, and therefore he is undeterred in discharging his duty in a full affectionate tie with the Lord.

This is Krsna‘s family.. If we have affection for Krsna’s family..  How do we express affection — dadati prati grhnati..

I was told to open a temple in France.. Even though I was not fluent in French.

Whenever Krsna gives more service never let it go..

If you chant your rounds and follow the regulative principles.. Krishna will give the intelligence.. We were asked to do all kinds of things.. We were able to get that intelligence from Krsna and we were about to do miraculous things.. Faith in Prabhupda and Krsna two parallel tracks.. Temple is a holy place like Vrindavan.. You feel great relief as everyone is trying to be Krsna Conscious.. If they see everybody cooperating and friendly affectionate way.. They want to keep coming..

It is very difficult for them to forget Krsna because of the purity of the activities

And the joy they feel because of the activities.

Any affection for Srila Prabhupada & his disciples- one feels duty bound and do his duty to the best of his ability and leave the rest to Krsna. Who is sincere, affectionate, tries to follow the regulations of KC  – due to  Loyalty, fidelity, dutifulness.. The lord protects..

Bhoktaram Yajna tapasam..

BG 5.29

A person in full consciousness of Me, knowing Me to be the ultimate beneficiary of all sacrifices and austerities, the Supreme Lord of all planets and demigods, and the benefactor and well-wisher of all living entities, attains peace from the pangs of material miseries.

  1. Ultimate beneficiary
  2. Supreme lord of all planets and demigods
  3. Well wisher of all living beings

The conditioned souls within the clutches of the illusory energy are all anxious to attain peace in the material world. But they do not know the formula for peace, which is explained in this part of the Bhagavad-gītā. The greatest peace formula is simply this: Lord Kṛṣṇa is the beneficiary in all human activities. Men should offer everything to the transcendental service of the Lord because He is the proprietor of all planets and the demigods thereon. No one is greater than He. He is greater than the greatest of the demigods, Lord Śiva and Lord Brahmā. In the Vedas (Śvetāśvatara Upaniṣad 6.7) the Supreme Lord is described as tam īśvarāṇāṁ paramaṁ maheśvaraṁ. Under the spell of illusion, living entities are trying to be lords of all they survey, but actually they are dominated by the material energy of the Lord. The Lord is the master of material nature, and the conditioned souls are under the stringent rules of material nature. Unless one understands these bare facts, it is not possible to achieve peace in the world either individually or collectively. This is the sense of Kṛṣṇa consciousness: Lord Kṛṣṇa is the supreme predominator, and all living entities, including the great demigods, are His subordinates. One can attain perfect peace only in complete Kṛṣṇa consciousness.

This Fifth Chapter is a practical explanation of Kṛṣṇa consciousness, generally known as karma-yoga. The question of mental speculation as to how karma-yoga can give liberation is answered herewith. To work in Kṛṣṇa consciousness is to work with the complete knowledge of the Lord as the predominator. Such work is not different from transcendental knowledge. Direct Kṛṣṇa consciousness is bhakti-yoga, and jñāna-yoga is a path leading to bhakti-yoga. Kṛṣṇa consciousness means to work in full knowledge of one’s relationship with the Supreme Absolute, and the perfection of this consciousness is full knowledge of Kṛṣṇa, or the Supreme Personality of Godhead. A pure soul is the eternal servant of God as His fragmental part and parcel. He comes into contact with māyā (illusion) due to the desire to lord it over māyā, and that is the cause of his many sufferings. As long as he is in contact with matter, he has to execute work in terms of material necessities. Kṛṣṇa consciousness, however, brings one into spiritual life even while one is within the jurisdiction of matter, for it is an arousing of spiritual existence by practice in the material world. The more one is advanced, the more he is freed from the clutches of matter. The Lord is not partial toward anyone. Everything depends on one’s practical performance of duties in Kṛṣṇa consciousness, which helps one control the senses in every respect and conquer the influence of desire and anger. And one who stands fast in Kṛṣṇa consciousness, controlling the above mentioned passions, remains factually in the transcendental stage, or brahma-nirvāṇa. The eightfold yoga mysticism is automatically practiced in Kṛṣṇa consciousness because the ultimate purpose is served. There is a gradual process of elevation in the practice of yama, niyama, āsana, prāṇāyāma, pratyāhāra, dhāraṇā, dhyāna and samādhi. But these only preface perfection by devotional service, which alone can award peace to the human being. It is the highest perfection of life.

Thus end the Bhaktivedanta Purports to the Fifth Chapter of the Śrīmad Bhagavad-gītā in the matter of Karma-yoga, or Action in Kṛṣṇa Consciousness.

Chant with feeling

Follow the rules and regulations

We remain in the transcendental stage of Brahma Nirvana..

Everything depends on the one;s practical performance of duties in KC

Spiritual master is very kind – Chant 16  good rounds, come for mangal arti.

Every body has to do it, the spiritual master has to do it, disciple has to do it. So everybody makes spiritual advancement.

ISO TEXT 17 (Pls remember by sacrifices)

Let this temporary body be burnt to ashes, and let the air of life be merged with the totality of air. Now, O my Lord, please remember all my sacrifices, and because You are the ultimate beneficiary, please remember all that I have done for You.

Dutifully perform the service..

Arjuna was refusing to do his duty

What will stop one from performing the duties – It is due to duality. Everyone is bewildered by duality in this material world.

BG 7.27 (Dualities)

O scion of Bharata, O conqueror of the foe, all living entities are born into delusion, bewildered by dualities arisen from desire and hate.

The real constitutional position of the living entity is that of subordination to the Supreme Lord,

who is pure knowledge. When one is deluded into separation from this pure knowledge, he becomes controlled by the illusory energy and cannot understand the Supreme Personality of Godhead. The illusory energy is manifested in the duality of desire and hate. Due to desire and hate, the ignorant person wants to become one with the Supreme Lord and envies Kṛṣṇa as the Supreme Personality of Godhead. Pure devotees, who are not deluded or contaminated by desire and hate, can understand that Lord Śrī Kṛṣṇa appears by His internal potencies, but those who are deluded by duality and nescience think that the Supreme Personality of Godhead is created by material energies. This is their misfortune. Such deluded persons, symptomatically, dwell in dualities of dishonor and honor, misery and happiness, woman and man, good and bad, pleasure and pain, etc., thinking, “This is my wife; this is my house; I am the master of this house; I am the husband of this wife.” These are the dualities of delusion. Those who are so deluded by dualities are completely foolish and therefore cannot understand the Supreme Personality of Godhead.

We have to hear BG & SB everyday right upto the last minute of our life. This is our absolute duty to hear BG & SB everyday.

We have to understand why we fell from the spiritual world. Envy of Krsna.. When we fell down,.. Prisoners of maya.. Birth after birth.. One is always chasing the dualities..

Even devotees have difficult times, Nithyanada – Jagai and Madai, Jesus Christ – Crucified.. Praha

SB 2.8.5 Notes – 11/14/21

KEY TAKEAWAYS FROM HH HARIVILAS MAHARAJ’S MORNING BHAGAVATAM CLASS ON SB 2.8.5:

  • It is said that a single pure devotee of the Lord can deliver all the fallen souls of the world.
  • One who is actually in the confidence of a pure devotee like Nārada or Śukadeva Gosvāmī and thus is empowered by one’s spiritual master, as Nārada was by Brahmājī, can not only deliver himself from the clutches of māyā, or illusion, but can deliver the whole world by his pure and empowered devotional strength.
  • A powerful pure devotee of the Lord, however, can deliver not only his personal self but also many others in his association.
  • The cleansing of the polluted heart by other methods (like the culture of empiric knowledge or mystic gymnastics) can simply cleanse one’s own heart, but devotional service to the Lord is so powerful that it can cleanse the hearts of the people in general, by the devotional service of the pure, empowered devotee.
  • Not only were all the pure devotees like Nārada self-realized souls, but they were engaged in preaching work automatically by spiritual impetus, and thus they delivered many poor souls entangled in the material modes.
  • They became so powerful because they sincerely followed the Bhāgavatam principles by regular hearing and worshiping.
  • The Lord is always within the heart of the living being, but He becomes manifested by one’s devotional service.
  • Devotional service to the Lord is the only method of cleansing the heart for good. Whereas other methods may be superficially good for the time being, there is a risk of becoming muddy again due to agitation of the mind.
  • Devotional service to the Lord, with specific attention for hearing Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam regularly and always, is the best recommended method for liberation from the clutches of illusion.
  • Quote of the day – the burden of useless theories can be avoided, simply by following the Sastras.

SB 2.8.5 TRANSLATION:

The sound incarnation of Lord Kṛṣṇa, the Supreme Soul [i.e., Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam], enters into the heart of a self-realized devotee, sits on the lotus flower of his loving relationship, and thus cleanses the dust of material association, such as lust, anger and hankering. Thus it acts like autumnal rains upon pools of muddy water.

It is said that a single pure devotee of the Lord can deliver all the fallen souls of the world. Thus one who is actually in the confidence of a pure devotee like Nārada or Śukadeva Gosvāmī and thus is empowered by one’s spiritual master, as Nārada was by Brahmājī, can not only deliver himself from the clutches of māyā, or illusion, but can deliver the whole world by his pure and empowered devotional strength. The comparison to the autumnal rain that falls on muddy reservoirs of water is very appropriate. During the rainy season, all the waters of the rivers become muddy, but in the month of July-August, the autumn season, when there is a slight rainfall, the muddy waters of the rivers all over the world become at once clear. By addition of some chemical, a small reservoir of water like that of a metropolitan waterworks tank can be cleared, but by such a tiny effort it is not possible to clear up all the reservoirs of water like the rivers. A powerful pure devotee of the Lord, however, can deliver not only his personal self but also many others in his association.

In other words, the cleansing of the polluted heart by other methods (like the culture of empiric knowledge or mystic gymnastics) can simply cleanse one’s own heart, but devotional service to the Lord is so powerful that it can cleanse the hearts of the people in general, by the devotional service of the pure, empowered devotee. A true representative of the Lord like Nārada, Śukadeva Gosvāmī, Lord Caitanya, the Six Gosvāmīs and later Śrīla Bhaktivinoda Ṭhākura and Śrīmad Bhaktisiddhānta Sarasvatī Ṭhākura, etc., can deliver all people by their empowered devotional service.

By sincere efforts to hear Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam one realizes his constitutional relationship with the Lord in the transcendental humor of servitude, friendship, parental affection or conjugal love, and by such self-realization one becomes situated at once in the transcendental loving service of the Lord. Not only were all the pure devotees like Nārada self-realized souls, but they were engaged in preaching work automatically by spiritual impetus, and thus they delivered many poor souls entangled in the material modes. They became so powerful because they sincerely followed the Bhāgavatam principles by regular hearing and worshiping. By such actions the accumulated material lusts, etc., become cleansed by the personal endeavor of the Lord within the heart. The Lord is always within the heart of the living being, but He becomes manifested by one’s devotional service.

Purification of the heart by culture of knowledge or mystic yoga may be all right for the time being for an individual person, but it is like the cleansing of a small quantity of stagnant water by chemical processes. Such clarification of water may stand for the time being and the sediments settle down, but by a slight agitation everything becomes muddy. The idea is that devotional service to the Lord is the only method of cleansing the heart for good. Whereas other methods may be superficially good for the time being, there is a risk of becoming muddy again due to agitation of the mind. Devotional service to the Lord, with specific attention for hearing Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam regularly and always, is the best recommended method for liberation from the clutches of illusion.

Due to the profound contamination after spending millions of life times  doing sense gratification.

Hear and repeat everyday

By being in anxiety, economic down time

When you are afraid you make fast decisions

Businessmen and politicians make money by putting people in situation of fear.

Examples – Y2K, Mayan Calendar 2012, ….

There is always going to be something wrong in this material world. Because it is the law of nature.

BG 5.22

The more one is addicted to material pleasures, the more he is entrapped by material miseries.

Material body – prison house, anything can go wrong at any time.

Durga mata is the incharge of the material body.

Examples – All diseases, a woman who was healthy died, Friend ‘s son 9 years old died due to health.

Everything in this world is Misinformation and lies.

We have to instill the cleansing process in our children.

They should see the parents engaged in dev service with the love and devotion.

Rules in the house – how are you going to do things in the house

  • Krsna should be the thakur of the house (Bhoktaram yagna tapasa)

Every member in the temple should be dedicated to serve the deity and be concerned in distribution of the mercy of the

Devotee is unhappy to see others being unhappy. He will try to do everything to help them.

You get happy by pleasing Krsna. Krishna is happy we will become happy.

We will not be happy by hoarding, spending..

SOME PEOPLE GET ANGRY ALL THE TIME- They have many strong material desires and they are not ablet to get them fulfilled easily. Hence they get angry.

LUST- overwhelmed by the desire and cant keep thinking of anything else.

HANKERING- on the moment desiring something

KEY TAKEAWAYS FROM HH HARIVILAS MAHARAJ’S MORNING BHAGAVATAM CLASS ON SB 2.8.4 TODAY (11/13/21):

  • Cheap devotees or materialistic devotees of the Lord are very much desirous to see the Lord personally without meeting the requisite qualifications.
  • The pseudo devotee  is very anxious to see the Lord according to his whims, not making any serious effort to hear Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam regularly and without detachment from material benefit.
  • Mahārāja Parīkṣit personally recommends that one hear Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam regularly, nityam, always by one’s own effort and with serious devotion also. That will help one to see the Lord Śrī Kṛṣṇa manifested in one’s heart within no time.
  • To be fully engaged in hearing the transcendental narration described in the text of Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam means to constantly associate with the Supreme Soul, Śrī Kṛṣṇa.
  •  Lord Kṛṣṇa is like the sun, and material contamination is like darkness. As the presence of the sun dissipates darkness, constant engagement in the association of the Lord Śrī Kṛṣṇa frees one from the contamination of the material qualities.
  • Contamination by the material qualities is the cause of repeated birth and death, and liberation from material qualities is transcendence.
  • Mahārāja Parīkṣit was now a realized soul by this secret of liberation, through the grace of Śukadeva Gosvāmī.
  • One should continue hearing till the end of one’s life so that one can actually have the transcendental association of the Lord and thus be liberated simply by hearing Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam.
  • Queen Kuntī affirms that the Lord, although both within and without all living beings, is still invisible. The Lord is, so to speak, a puzzle for the common man.
  •  He reserves the right of not being exposed to persons who are not surrendered souls. This checking curtain is called the māyā energy of the Supreme Lord, and it controls the limited vision of the rebellious soul.
  • The less intelligent persons are those who rebel against the authority of the Lord. Such persons are known as asuras. The asuras cannot recognize the Lord’s authority.
  • This is partially due to their poor fund of knowledge and partially due to their stubborn obstinacy, which results from various misdeeds in the past and present.
  • The Supreme Truth, the Absolute Personality of Godhead, is beyond the range of the thinking power of the greatest philosopher. He is unknowable by great learning or by the greatest brain. He is knowable only by one who has His mercy. Others may go on thinking about Him for years together, yet He is unknowable.
  • Women in general are unable to speculate like philosophers, but they are blessed by the Lord because they believe at once in the superiority and almightiness of the Lord, and thus they offer obeisances without reservation. The Lord is so kind that He does not show special favor only to one who is a great philosopher. He knows the sincerity of purpose
  • This simplicity of acceptance of the Lord’s authority is more effective than showy insincere religious fervor.
  • Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu confirmed that no one is as fortunate as the residents of Vrajabhūmi, and specifically the cowherd girls, who dedicated their everything for the satisfaction of the Lord.
  • His pastimes with Nanda and Yaśodā and His pastimes with the cowherd men and especially with the cowherd boys and the cows have caused Him to be known as Govinda.
  • Human prosperity depends more on these two items, namely brahminical culture and cow protection. Lord Kṛṣṇa is never satisfied where these are lacking.

SB 2.8.4 TRANSLATION:

Persons who hear Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam regularly and are always taking the matter very seriously will have the Personality of Godhead Śrī Kṛṣṇa manifested in their hearts within a short time.

Cheap devotees or materialistic devotees of the Lord are very much desirous to see the Lord personally without meeting the requisite qualifications. Such third-grade devotees should know well that material attachment and seeing the Lord face to face cannot go together. It is not such a mechanical process that the professional Bhāgavatam reciters can do the job on behalf of the third-grade materialistic pseudodevotee. The professional men are useless in this connection because they are neither self-realized nor interested in the liberation of the audience. They are simply interested in maintaining the material establishment of family attachment and earning some material benefits out of the profession. Mahārāja Parīkṣit had no more than seven days to live, but for others Mahārāja Parīkṣit personally recommends that one hear Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam regularly, nityam, always by one’s own effort and with serious devotion also. That will help one to see the Lord Śrī Kṛṣṇa manifested in one’s heart within no time.

The pseudo devotee, however, is very anxious to see the Lord according to his whims, not making any serious effort to hear Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam regularly and without detachment from material benefit. That is not the way recommended by an authority like Mahārāja Parīkṣit, who heard and benefited by hearing Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam.

Absolute focus on hearing SB everyday, by submission, offering service, and asking questions on every concept..

Develop ruchi

  1. Associating with devotees
  2. Relishing the association of devotees and learning the culture of KC
  3. Accepting initiation from bonafide spiritual master
  4. Get rid of all bad habits  – anartha nivritti
  5. Nishta – very very strong faith in Krsna
  6. Ruchi – strong taste for hearing, that they cannot do without hearing

SB 2.8.3

To be fully engaged in hearing the transcendental narration described in the text of Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam means to constantly associate with the Supreme Soul, Śrī Kṛṣṇa. And to constantly associate with the Supreme Lord Kṛṣṇa means to be liberated from the qualities of matter. Lord Kṛṣṇa is like the sun, and material contamination is like darkness. As the presence of the sun dissipates darkness, constant engagement in the association of the Lord Śrī Kṛṣṇa frees one from the contamination of the material qualities. Contamination by the material qualities is the cause of repeated birth and death, and liberation from material qualities is transcendence. Mahārāja Parīkṣit was now a realized soul by this secret of liberation, through the grace of Śukadeva Gosvāmī, for the latter had informed the King that the highest perfection of life is to be in remembrance of Nārāyaṇa at the end of life. Mahārāja Parīkṣit was destined to give up his body at the end of seven days, and thus he decided to continue remembering the Lord by His association with the topics of Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam, and thus to quit his body in full consciousness of the presence of the Lord Śrī Kṛṣṇa, the Supreme Soul.

The hearing of Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam performed by professional men is different from the transcendental hearing of Mahārāja Parīkṣit. Mahārāja Parīkṣit was a soul realized in the Absolute Truth, Śrī Kṛṣṇa, the Personality of Godhead. The fruitive materialist is not a realized soul; he wants to derive some material benefit from his so-called hearing of Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam. Undoubtedly such an audience, hearing Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam from the professional men, can derive some material benefit as they desire, but that does not mean that such a pretense of hearing Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam for a week is as good as the hearing of Mahārāja Parīkṣit.

It is the duty of the sane to hear Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam from a self-realized soul and not be duped by professional men. One should continue such hearing till the end of one’s life so that one can actually have the transcendental association of the Lord and thus be liberated simply by hearing Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam.

Mahārāja Parīkṣit had already given up all his connections with his kingdom and family, the most attractive features of materialism, but still he was conscious of his material body. He wanted to be free of such bondage also by the constant association of the Lord.

One has the constant association of the lord by regularly hearing SB.

Seeing is believing. YOu can see Krsna by hearing SB.

7 coverings of material world – Bhumi…

SB 1.8.18

Śrīmatī Kuntī said: O Kṛṣṇa, I offer my obeisances unto You because You are the original personality and are unaffected by the qualities of the material world. You are existing both within and without everything, yet You are invisible to all.

Śrīmatī Kuntīdevī was quite aware that Kṛṣṇa is the original Personality of Godhead, although He was playing the part of her nephew. Such an enlightened lady could not commit a mistake by offering obeisances unto her nephew. Therefore, she addressed Him as the original puruṣa beyond the material cosmos. Although all living entities are also transcendental, they are neither original nor infallible. The living entities are apt to fall down under the clutches of material nature, but the Lord is never like that. In the Vedas, therefore, He is described as the chief among all living entities (nityo nityānāṁ cetanaś cetanānām). Then again He is addressed as īśvara, or the controller. The living entities or the demigods like Candra and Sūrya are also to some extent īśvara, but none of them is the supreme īśvara, or the ultimate controller. He is the parameśvara, or the Supersoul. He is both within and without. Although He was present before Śrīmatī Kuntī as her nephew, He was also within her and everyone else. In the Bhagavad-gītā (15.15) the Lord says, “I am situated in everyone’s heart, and only due to Me one remembers, forgets and is cognizant, etc. Through all the Vedas I am to be known because I am the compiler of the Vedas, and I am the teacher of the Vedānta.” Queen Kuntī affirms that the Lord, although both within and without all living beings, is still invisible. The Lord is, so to speak, a puzzle for the common man. Queen Kuntī experienced personally that Lord Kṛṣṇa was present before her, yet He entered within the womb of Uttarā to save her embryo from the attack of Aśvatthāmā’s brahmāstra. Kuntī herself was puzzled about whether Śrī Kṛṣṇa is all-pervasive or localized. In fact, He is both, but He reserves the right of not being exposed to persons who are not surrendered souls. This checking curtain is called the māyā energy of the Supreme Lord, and it controls the limited vision of the rebellious soul. It is explained as follows.

SB 1.8.19

Being beyond the range of limited sense perception, You are the eternally irreproachable factor covered by the curtain of deluding energy. You are invisible to the foolish observer, exactly as an actor dressed as a player is not recognized.

In the Bhagavad-gītā Lord Śrī Kṛṣṇa affirms that less intelligent persons mistake Him to be an ordinary man like us, and thus they deride Him. The same is confirmed herein by Queen Kuntī. The less intelligent persons are those who rebel against the authority of the Lord. Such persons are known as asuras. The asuras cannot recognize the Lord’s authority. When the Lord Himself appears amongst us, as Rāma, Nṛsiṁha, Varāha or in His original form as Kṛṣṇa, He performs many wonderful acts which are humanly impossible. As we shall find in the Tenth Canto of this great literature, Lord Śrī Kṛṣṇa exhibited His humanly impossible activities even from the days of His lying on the lap of His mother. He killed the Pūtanā witch, although she smeared her breast with poison just to kill the Lord. The Lord sucked her breast like a natural baby, and He sucked out her very life also. Similarly, He lifted the Govardhana Hill, just as a boy picks up a frog’s umbrella, and stood several days continuously just to give protection to the residents of Vṛndāvana. These are some of the superhuman activities of the Lord described in the authoritative Vedic literatures like the Purāṇas, Itihāsas (histories) and Upaniṣads. He has delivered wonderful instructions in the shape of the Bhagavad-gītā. He has shown marvelous capacities as a hero, as a householder, as a teacher and as a renouncer. He is accepted as the Supreme Personality of Godhead by such authoritative personalities as Vyāsa, Devala, Asita, Nārada, Madhva, Śaṅkara, Rāmānuja, Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu, Jīva Gosvāmī, Viśvanātha Cakravartī, Bhaktisiddhānta Sarasvatī and all other authorities of the line. He Himself has declared as much in many places of the authentic literatures. And yet there is a class of men with demoniac mentality who are always reluctant to accept the Lord as the Supreme Absolute Truth. This is partially due to their poor fund of knowledge and partially due to their stubborn obstinacy, which results from various misdeeds in the past and present. Such persons could not recognize Lord Śrī Kṛṣṇa even when He was present before them. Another difficulty is that those who depend more on their imperfect senses cannot realize Him as the Supreme Lord. Such persons are like the modern scientist. They want to know everything by their experimental knowledge. But it is not possible to know the Supreme Person by imperfect experimental knowledge. He is described herein as adhokṣaja, or beyond the range of experimental knowledge. All our senses are imperfect. We claim to observe everything and anything, but we must admit that we can observe things under certain material conditions only, which are also beyond our control. The Lord is beyond the observation of sense perception. Queen Kuntī accepts this deficiency of the conditioned soul, especially of the woman class, who are less intelligent. For less intelligent men there must be such things as temples, mosques or churches so that they may begin to recognize the authority of the Lord and hear about Him from authorities in such holy places. For less intelligent men, this beginning of spiritual life is essential, and only foolish men decry the establishment of such places of worship, which are required to raise the standard of spiritual attributes for the mass of people. For less intelligent persons, bowing down before the authority of the Lord, as generally done in the temples, mosques or churches, is as beneficial as it is for the advanced devotees to meditate upon Him by active service.

SB 1.8.19

You Yourself descend to propagate the transcendental science of devotional service unto the hearts of the advanced transcendentalists and mental speculators, who are purified by being able to discriminate between matter and spirit. How then can we women know You perfectly?

Even the greatest philosophical speculators cannot have access to the region of the Lord. It is said in the Upaniṣads that the Supreme Truth, the Absolute Personality of Godhead, is beyond the range of the thinking power of the greatest philosopher. He is unknowable by great learning or by the greatest brain. He is knowable only by one who has His mercy. Others may go on thinking about Him for years together, yet He is unknowable. This very fact is corroborated by the Queen, who is playing the part of an innocent woman. Women in general are unable to speculate like philosophers, but they are blessed by the Lord because they believe at once in the superiority and almightiness of the Lord, and thus they offer obeisances without reservation. The Lord is so kind that He does not show special favor only to one who is a great philosopher. He knows the sincerity of purpose. For this reason only, women generally assemble in great number in any sort of religious function. In every country and in every sect of religion it appears that the women are more interested than the men. This simplicity of acceptance of the Lord’s authority is more effective than showy insincere religious fervor.

SB 1.18.21

Let me therefore offer my respectful obeisances unto the Lord, who has become the son of Vasudeva, the pleasure of Devakī, the boy of Nanda and the other cowherd men of Vṛndāvana, and the enlivener of the cows and the senses.

The Lord, being thus unapproachable by any material assets, out of unbounded and causeless mercy descends to the earth as He is in order to show His special mercy upon His unalloyed devotees and to diminish the upsurges of the demoniac persons. Queen Kuntī specifically adores the incarnation or descent of Lord Kṛṣṇa above all other incarnations because in this particular incarnation He is more approachable. In the Rāma incarnation He remained a king’s son from His very childhood, but in the incarnation of Kṛṣṇa, although He was the son of a king, He at once left the shelter of His real father and mother (King Vasudeva and Queen Devakī) just after His appearance and went to the lap of Yaśodāmāyī to play the part of an ordinary cowherd boy in the blessed Vrajabhūmi, which is very sanctified because of His childhood pastimes. Therefore Lord Kṛṣṇa is more merciful than Lord Rāma. He was undoubtedly very kind to Kuntī’s brother Vasudeva and the family. Had He not become the son of Vasudeva and Devakī, Queen Kuntī could not claim Him to be her nephew and thus address Kṛṣṇa in parental affection. But Nanda and Yaśodā are more fortunate because they could relish the Lord’s childhood pastimes, which are more attractive than all other pastimes. There is no parallel to His childhood pastimes as exhibited at Vrajabhūmi, which are replicas of His eternal affairs in the original Kṛṣṇaloka, described as the cintāmaṇi-dhāma in the Brahma-saṁhitā. Lord Śrī Kṛṣṇa descended Himself at Vrajabhūmi with all His transcendental entourage and paraphernalia. Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu therefore confirmed that no one is as fortunate as the residents of Vrajabhūmi, and specifically the cowherd girls, who dedicated their everything for the satisfaction of the Lord. His pastimes with Nanda and Yaśodā and His pastimes with the cowherd men and especially with the cowherd boys and the cows have caused Him to be known as Govinda. Lord Kṛṣṇa as Govinda is more inclined to the brāhmaṇas and the cows, indicating thereby that human prosperity depends more on these two items, namely brahminical culture and cow protection. Lord Kṛṣṇa is never satisfied where these are lacking.

Prosperity, peace,  – cow protection and brahminical culture.
